When you first demoed, I thought you painted it black, thought it sounded OK. Then you swapped out for the one you actually made and it sounded pretty good, different but equally as good as the store bought. I came to the video because I can't find my old cowbell, looked into buying new one....Prices have gone up! I thought maybe I could make one, probably find a youtube video, and here I am! I may make a few, trying different gauges and profiles. Cool project - Cheers

I love the fact that the homemade one has more of a light ring to it and it sounds different to the old one. Awesome!

Wow, i must admit, the one you made sounds way better than the original one... looks like you can take them out of business... lol. . Very good job

Not. It's envelope is too long for salsa music. The overtones don't resonate well. LP bells are precision made and is probably why they sound consistent. This guy did a great job making a bell in general, but not a latin bell.
@BanBanChi5 жыл бұрын
In 1999 I went to the place where LP has their cowbells made in Bergen County NJ. Half of the shop makes metal liners for coffins and the leftover pieces of sheet metal are used for cowbells.

Wow I really love the sound of the one you made. I mean, they both sound good, but the high pitched overtones of the LP is the kind of thing that drives me insane. I like a cowbell with a quick decay.

Wow, I really like the sound of the one you made. It sounds smoother than the commercial one. You should make a few different sizes and play all of them. Does it dent easily ? You did a good job. BTW. I have never left a review before on anyone's videos. I've been watching KZbin for years. You got me to write my first review, just to praise you ! Good job! Lol

If Bonzo were alive he'd be a subscriber. Another watchable interesting production whether the viewer is a musician or not. Or adult or child for that matter, the photography alone would captivate very young kids. The finished product sounded exactly like a cowbell, mission accomplished, paint it radioactive orange. Your mounting idea was clever although I must voice concern about uncommon stress and wear and tear on the bass drum rim. Knowing you, Dave, you probably have rack and stand mount configurations as well. And just when I think I've seen you reach the bottom of your bag of tricks you break out a fucking welder.
