They trained under warrior monks who already left the temple in the pursuit of wealth in the west.(US) Bruce was the first and they glorified him for the wow and ahh of never seeing martial arts on that level. He was cash money when you think of money making and movie ideas. Not doubt he was an amazing martial artist. But all his "fights" are word of mouth. No proof. He wasn't fighting the best in the street or in a pro setting. Donnie Ying is who everyone thinks Bruce Lee is when it comes to being a real martial arts fighter. All of these guys after Bruce Lee are great and are legends, but if I were to rank them, I'd put Donnie Yen 2nd. He's pretty lethal as he's trained under martial arts that can be ideal for real-life scenarios (like BJJ or MMA). But again, that's not to say the rest aren't up there. They're all legends in their own ways and have trained under martial arts that can be useful, as well as ones that fit their style.

Depends on what you mean by fighter in its simplest term a fighter is someone who fights. In that regard he has fought and won many fights so he is a good fighter. If you are talking about prize fighting or professional fighting that would be a no since he didn’t fight in any fighting organization, he won an amateur boxing tournament in high school but that doesn’t count for as much.

I'm sure Bruce Lee was a skilled martial artist but i don't believe for one second that he was MMA level competitor. He isn't someone that could've just easily stepped in the UFC , ONE championship and dominate. He was never that, Dylan is right to a degree he was a skilled martial artist, the same way Chuck Norris, and jackie chan was I RESPECT what they both done for martial artist on the big screen. But entertainment and actually competing at high level combat sports that's different.
