Daniel Martinez I honestly think Ozai should be taken off the list completely or dropped to the bottom with pakku. The only time ozai ever wom was against a kid who didn’t even want to fight him (zuko) ozai lost time zuko literally right after the solar eclipse and the only reason zuko didn’t kill him was because “it wasn’t his destiny” that’s it! Zuko beat ozai before the comet even came. Ozai even lost to aang before aang went avatar state, but once again he was spared because aang didn’t want to kill him. Ozai (in my opinion) is a joke and the only reason nobody else fought him is because they believed aang was supposed to be the one to do it. Iroh is stronger than Ozai. All that old man talk is bs because iroh is older than Ozai and still broke out of prison alone, iroh defeated dia le agents (with zuko of course) without even bending! He was one of the first fire benders to train with the dragons! If anyone on this list is slept on its iroh. Also toph, but her blindness is both her greatest strength and weakness.

Richard Jones Ozai was for sure a powerhouse, they showed this clearly when he set the earth kingdom on fire. He had dozens of strong and capable fire benders not even able to create his level of destruction. Also he is one of 3 people who can use lightning. However I think Iroh in his prime could beat him, the match up of style and personality are against him versus his brother. With his brother being top 3 in mobility, and Iroh being at the bottom of that list and maybe medium after training; inferred from fire bending flying.

Combustion man lost to sakka king bumi got on the list and would lose to people like zuko toph azula katara and iroh zuko because zuko could dodge attacks his nimbleness is extremely underrated (remember when he was the blue spirit) toph because of metal bending which is actually popular material in the show especially in the later episodes azula because she is so fast and unpredictable she could take him out of the fight before he even attacks katara because yk bloodblending iroh because the white lotus clearly acknowledged him as the leader and he was the one that had to get them into Ba Sing Se and he could probably physically block some of boomi's attacks without bending and obviously ozai and aang

Zel you completely missed the point of that argument 🤦‍♂️ The point is that iroh is more skilled at fire bending than ozai a dragons taught him the essence of fire bending,and he has numerous feats that attest to his skill(like showing noob zuko how to beat general zhao, breathing fire, creating lightning bending by watching water benders, etc.) . The creator of the show stated that ozai is the STRONGEST fire bender in the fire nation. That doesn’t mean he is the most SKILLED. This is further proved in zuko and aang 2 kids that iroh just showed to re-direct lightning, both could’ve killed ozai in seconds, to the point where you can see the fear and panic in ozai’s face before they both spare his life. The same reason that zuko didn’t kill ozai is the same reason that iroh didn’t try. Because they both accepted that it’s not their destiny to beat ozai. Iroh states that if he did it would create more problems because he would be remembered for killing his brother to take power, which would destabilize the fire nation. Prime iroh should bet ozai 7/10 times. Ozai has a characteristic where he tries to lightning bend when he gets angry or anxious, and in character tries to lightning bend to kill. The second he does this against iroh it would be re-directed and 1 shot ozai. Iroh wins mid diff.

I like how everyone forgot that Iroh is the true heir to the fire nation - Ozai is the main villain so you all think that he of course is the stronger of the two, but its not like that. I would argue that Iroh is on par with If not stronger than Ozai. When he said it wasn't his job to defeat Ozai- don't take it at face value, he's implying that if it was he would be up to the task, not to mention it would've caused unrest within the fire nation, he knew it was the task of the avatar and not him. Shows do that, shows hint at things like that. Iroh wouldn't say that if he knew he wasn't capable, with his character he probably would've flat out said he couldn't beat him even if he tried.

You guys forgetting that Azula was boosted by the Sozens comet when she was fighting Katara in the end. Plus in the end when aang went missing Zuko went in search of Iroh because he was the only one who could hang with Ozai. Katara, Toph, and Zuko were too scared to fight Ozai. And Iroh said it wasn't his destiny to fight his own brother and Iroh said that even if he could kill his brother it would look like a power struggle b/w brothers instead of a change in the Fire Nation. So hypothetically the closest to Ozai is not Katara but Iroh. Put some respect on my boy Iroh. Also the only reason that Azula got that lighting hit on Iroh was b/c he was distracted at seeing Toph(someone he had met in the forest) as a part of Team Aang; Azula saw that split break in concentration and took advantage of that. IF it wasn't for that then Azula was most likely getting captured.
