I read the book and watched the movie. Fantastic book and fantastic movie. the way the movie compressed the book into a movie-length presentation without making the reader of the book feel that something is missing was done absolutely brilliantly.

I have read so many of Bill’s brilliant books and can’t wait to read this one after seeing the film yesterday. When I first saw a screenshot of the trailer, and with no disrespect to Bill, I assumed the character who plays Katz was Bill. What a surprise to see Robert Redford was in the film, and he was playing him. Great film!

Just watched the movie today, it was hilarious so I bought the book on Kindle. As an avid reader I know the book is always better than the movie! I can't wait to settle in with a coffee and start reading it!

A truly great story. It was interesting to get the author's opinion of the portrayal of the movie characters as compared to his memory of the trip. Really fun video to watch. I can't wait for my thru hike in 2021.

Nearly finished reading A Walk In The Woods, for the second time. Right now, they're just starting through the 100 Mile Wilderness. Such a great read. Thankyou, Bill Bryson, and Stephen Katz.

These guys were 44 years old when they did that hike. That's the only part about the movie that I can't get past. Robert Redford and Nick Nolte are old codgers now. They weren't right for the parts.

And you weren't right to make this comment and anyone you would've picked to play those parts would have been young and turned the roles down and these old men make the story more interesting and they would have ran laps around any actor's u would have picked on the trails and out acted them as well

Even back then Bryson most closely resembled Nick Nolte than Robert Redford! Additionally, although not mentioned in either the book or film, Bryson too very much enjoyed his alcohol!!

All of his books are great. The Lost Continent is one of my favourites. His more technical ones are less comedic but always fascinating and accessible.

A Short History of Nearly Everything. The abridged version is narrated by Bill himself, while the unabridged is narrated by Richard Matthews. They're both great, but I enjoy Bill's version more. I just wish he had narrated the unabridged as well.

I just started reading A Walk In The Woods. Stephen arrived after 25 years and surprise, he is really fat. . They pack up and take a bus then a taxi to a lodge in Georgia. They arrive during the coldest recorded day ever! It's just 11 degrees Fahrenheit!
