Thanks! I have to say I was inspired by your cover to make one myself :)

This one and the one by you, Anders Jensen, made me want to refine and publish my own! (I already made one in Schism Tracker, based on Impulse Tracker, but it could be much better). Also, I think I heard both of these themes on 8-bit Keys!

Anders and Rene, both awesome versions! Thank you. Do you guys have any other original 8 bit music like Zalza and other 8-bit composers?
7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jack, I'm no 8-bit composer, even in this song there is only analog and FM synthesizers used, no Commodore (I intend to use one but I need to fix midi on it) or any other 8-bit device is used... I do have original music on my channel but that's more in the style of 80's synthpop.
@jackfroste7 жыл бұрын
I will definitely check it out since I love the synthpop genre as well. Where are you based, Montreal?

I cannot describe what a master piece you have created from 8-bit guy's already-catchy theme.......that intro.....MY GOD.

This is a "geweldig" remix. And while I can read from your other comments that this is 16-bit, the samples and just music in general sounds very Commodore 64/SID-y. Of course with much more voices than the 3-voice SID. Sound great however. Very 1980s feel and being born in 1982 I really appreciate that. Also, I don't know if it was intentional but that deep synth in the beginning reminded me of the first deep string in Brad Fiedel's orignal The Terminator theme and that drum figure just after reminded me of Nelly Furtado's song "Say It Right". So all in all a really sweet track! :) And yes, The 8-Bit Guy brought me here too via the Analogical Evolutions pt II track. Who knew that a video on a 40 year old computer (Commodore PET) still held so much influence today? :)

The synth used almost reminds me of Bruce Faulconer's style from OG Dragonball Z on Toonami which is some of my favorite music, great job!! 8-Bit Guy is genius for making this song too sooo catchy!

Out of curiosity, what FM synth did you use? Was it one of Yamaha's DX series, or something more obscure like the Korg DS-8?
7 жыл бұрын
It's a Yamaha SY-77, DX-7 engine really but it can do some different waveforms. But since I am way to lazy to learn how to program it I use only DX7 libraries...
@bradleyhove41777 жыл бұрын
Nice. My first professional synth was a DX7 that I borrowed from my high school over the summer two years ago. I was determined to not have a computer in the studio so I sat down for hours a day teaching myself every function and parameter and how everything worked. That thing makes damn cool sounds, gotta get my own some day.
7 жыл бұрын
Just buy a SY-77(or the bigger and a bit better SY-99) :D They are dirt cheap nowadays. And with a quite nice keyboard that even has aftertouch. Can sound like a DX-7, although it also has some D-50 like features by combining real short samples into the FM sounds. Really, but REALLY versatile synthesizer if you know how to program it.
@bradleyhove41777 жыл бұрын
René Didden oh yeah they're both definitely on my list. Right now I'm still happy borrowing the DX7 from school, but maybe I'll treat myself in a few months as a graduation gift haha
@Roflcopter4b7 жыл бұрын
> "Made entirely with analog synthesizers (and one FM-synth)" What? This statement doesn't make any sense. This music is fantastic, but I understand why you would put this in the description. It's either made entirely with analog synths or it is not. If a non analog synth was involved, then it can't possibly be made entirely with analog synths by definition.
