Just adding a couple of points from a ton of bad experiences. 1. If you can't lose Pinkertons before entering New Austin, don't take the Thieves Landing route, instead take the Wooden Railroad bridge, they won't follow you there. 2. If you completed the Appleseed Timber Side Quest. Stay in Strawberry, wait beside the Stagecoach a wagon will arrive in nearly 5 minutes, or even earlier. 3. Remember that the Tent provides you 100% security and not the wooden sides, so make sure the angle is such that the shot hits the tent. Before this I was getting shot every time through the wood trying to pick up Desert Sage. 4. Use Photo Mode to confirm the location of the herb and try to place the wagon in way that after getting down you directly get the prompt to Pick and Examine. Last But not the least 5. Scream "FU Rockstar" after getting the last one because they always like to play god in their games, self righteous bunch of pricks.

Did this challenge on 17-9-2021, patch 1.29. Used the buggy for the first 3 plants then used a wagon for desert sage. I figured something on my own while doing this: 1. Keep your camera settings on default settings. 2. Grab a buggy from St Denis and ride to the crossover of upper Montana River and great Plains. 3. Once you start riding through great Plains and you're on your way to the plants, go into first person view (same view as call of duty or any other first person shooter game). 4. The fps view wont get you killed because Arthur isn't in the frame so the invincible sniper can't see Arthur. 5. When you get to the plants , AVOID reversing the buggy while in first person view as that will get you killed. Instead, go to your camera settings and turn everything off and use the furthest angle, fix the view angle then go down and collect the plant. 6. After you have collected the desired plant and gotten back on the buggy without dying, restore your camera settings back to default settings and repeat the process for the other plants. 7. Make sure you save everytime you pick up a plant. 8. Having no bounty at all in the other areas on the map helps reduce Pinkertons from showing up randomly on your journey. 9. Casually scan your route as you ride to the plants to make sure no lawmen are close to you. Hope this helps.

It’s more of an exploit than a glitch. It’s bullshit that the game has an invisible omnipresent sniper with unlimited ammo. So I don’t feel the least bit bad about exploiting a bulletproof canvas wagon cover.

Max I have something for you. If you fail to cover yourself while picking it up, pause and I pass every .5 second at least. It’ll reset the sniper shot. Keep on doing it and until you return on the wagon

Artur was killed soooooo manI times with this method. But he did it. For every flower I he was shot at liest 5 times. The comment below is very true. But I had to find out by my self that ONLY this couch with tent works. That only the tent is protecting. This wagon comes in Strawberry exactly at 8:40. Make a save in strawberry at 8: 30 and when you load it will come in 10 seconds. That can I ad. Dont hold the Lawmen close. Hold them out of the red circle. If you go out from the circle shoot and they will find you.shoot for the last time in Blackwater at the second gate and than full gas. My thoughts for this Challenge are: This challenge should be to make every tonic. Than it would be fair because to go to New austin is not necessary. And herbalist 10 is a joke. Even I can do it in real life. Hahaha. Thank you boys. Realy thanks a lot.

Dmitry Shepel is a genius! This is absolutely brilliant and it WORKS! If an old, unskilled gamer like me can do this anyone can. Was it easy, no, but if you follow his video you will get it. The most effective method for me was not worrying about getting the Strawberry law to follow, I just made a mad dash through West Elizabeth and this was the most efficient and reliable method. When I brought the Strawberry law I got unpredictable results with pinkertons spawning in a variety of different areas. Not to mention I wasted so much time trying to get the Keystone Cops in Strawberry to come after me and actually keep up. I had to kill half the town before they would even start searching! Also many thanks to Stefan Boshnakov for his tip about the wagon at 8:40AM in Strawberry, this was extremely helpful. No searching or waiting around for the wagon, it comes on a schedule, just jump it right before the stagecoach stop in Strawberry and then take the first right up the hill and past the stable and your on your way to New Austin! I AM LOTE!!! Now off yo get those dino bones!

Still works as of November 2nd 2020. But a few things to note. You'll need to zoom out as much as you can for the best results (getting off the wagon may zoom in too much otherwise on Arthur and he'll die) and also turn camera follow off.

really thank you man! at first i was almost give up on this, i spend hours of trying and trying but always die when picking up the herb. I just dont know how to manage the camera angle. Later on i find the clue on this, which is to align your minimap circle at the apleseed logo on the wagon horizontally, maybe a bit higher, in order to put the sniper shoot on the tent, because below it, the bullet will pierce through the wagon and kill you. Second after getting off, push your left analog stick toward the wagon, to make arthur face the wagon, this is very important, if you just get down and pick herb rightaway, arthur face will be facing opposite the wagon, not towards it, this is what keep me get killed, because arthur will bend further so the camera will zoom in to him. hope you all succed on this!

Just a tip based on me getting shot going for red sage: when you are lining up the wagon to pick the plant, go into photo mode and line the plant up so it’s inline with Arthur and the seats on the wagon. This will make it so you drop right onto the plants and won’t have to move and you’ll be covered by the canvas.

That's what I do when grabbing the desert sage, but the camera auto zooms in on me when the picking animation starts, and I get sniped. So frustrating, but it's the last herb I need to grab, so, I must keep trying. 👍🏽

It’s still working as of today ;) thanks my friend. One tip I have to add, it’s very easy to get off the wagon without being shot. But the picking up is hard, even in the furthest 3rd Person view away from Arthur the camera is swinging around. My work around is wiggling left and right with the mouse while picking the herb. So the camera doesn’t really know what to do. I made all herbs in one go. But it took me a while to figure it out.

I've finally done it! This video helped me a lot! There's a lot of camera management to learn, where to aim will riding, where when you get down, where when you pick up the plant. After a few times getting killed when Arthur picked the herb (the camera went through the wagon) I decided to practice a little before crossing to new austin and that helped a lot. So yes. The first location for me had no actual desert sages. Weird I know. So the batch by the N in New Austin works (using the RDR2 Online Map they have this location marked). I got there and tried twice. Both times got sniped out. Instead of taking the railway north keep going across the bridge til you get near the N in New Austin. Main thing. Relax. As long as you got a good angle they cant shoot you. Reset every time you spawn more than one set of lawmen. Relax. The railroad and stuff take time. That first hill is a doozy so take it slow. Get your park right and remember to have that higher angle so it doesn't go through the wagon. Once there. Relax. This is the fun part. If you have that plant where you want it by the drivers side front wagon wheel then when you get off push a bit towards the wagon and you should highlight the plant. Take your time after this and if you did everything right you have time to decide when to pick. Dont rush. May the force be with you.

Here's another tip from someone who spent way too much time trying to get the desert sage and red sage, hopefully this comes in handy. I had the same problem with the camera moving straight through the wagon. Whenever Arthur bends down to pick up the plants I would move the camera right towards the front of the wagon a little bit. Solved the problem of the camera bugging out and exposing Arthur.

This is it! In my first play throughs I tried the similar method from Jimbatron and it worked perfectly. Now I wasted half a day trying this out without getting even close to succeed. Exactly this method here (15.09.2021) works like a charm, not sure if the other method from Jimbatron was patched. Sidenote: If you need the Appleseed Timber coaches, just wait at their location and the wagon spawns after couple of minutes. The whole ride with that wagon is a bit more tricky, because Arthur is bit less protected than with the Strawberry Wagons but the picking up process (and THAT is what matters) is waaay better and easier with this method here.

I did it. With wagons I steal from tha path from Strawberry to Riggs Station. The big trick is align the drivers side back wheel so you cant see the spokes just the wheel and at the same time align so you can see the front drivers side horses tail. The main thing is align the horse and wheel and 9 times out of 10 you wont even need to manipulate the joystick when getting off and can push towards the wheel after without the camera moving. I wanna make a video for those like me who had it down but lost it for a few days lol Thank you Dimitri. I finally got all the herbs

Turn your camera follow off. Turn all your settings to off then run your bar settings all the way up. You can get all 4 and hunt all 3 legendary animals. You really only need to turn camera follow off. Use a St. Denis 1 horse buggy and hold whatever left trigger is on Computer with your gun out. The camera will stay above you and those buggys are faster and easier to maneuver.

@Herbert Banks Yes. To be honest, you don't have to stay on Tracks. As long as you check your map constantly for lawmen. I usually just take the small roads which is faster. And you are absolutely correct about the angles.

Completed on September 9th, 2021 on PC! Thank you so much for the guide! It took me 7-8 attempts. I was able to get 3 of the herbs in one run. I died a few times in dumb ways, but honestly it's not too bad. The key is as you jump off the wagon beside the herb, angle your camera up and to the right a bit so you don't clip through the wagon. Again, it's honestly not so bad. Just takes a bit of practice!

Still works on PC as if 09/19/23. Appleseed wagon still spawns by the Stagecoach entrance of Strawberry at exactly 8:40 am. Make sure you use the wagon tarp to block the shots when you get out to pickup herbs, NOT the wood part of the wagon. Also works with dinosaur bones, but you will die after completing each one.

oh god I managed to get 3/4 in a single run and I got shot as I picked the Desert Sage, because the camera clipped through the wagon. What a shame I think it's because the ground is on an incline.

I feel like this is too much work for me to do this as Arthur, I have to purchase a new pc sometime soon so I am thinking I might instead play this game on pc and install a trainer and then disable the sniper and the Pinkertons spawning in Great Plains completely and complete all the challenges as Arthur peacefully and also to get the legends of the east outfit for Arthur because I like playing as him more than John. I have already finished the entire story and got 92% completion on my Xbox one console. Great video though I’m impressed on the amount of the time you have spent to doing this 👍 EDIT: A Full year later, i finally managed to get the LOTE Outfit for arthur on PC with the use of lenny's simple trainer. The gambler challenges especially gambler 8 was the hardest, took 2 days to finish it, 9 and 10 wasn't as bad as 8 and it only took 2 hours to finish it.

I think its better doing nothing more in new Austin. I noticed that casual encounters are appearing, its kinda frustrating when you can’t do nothing...it feels like a lost moment of the game. But its up to you and everyone .Still, Arthur deserved that outfit for sure.😎

Tip: Make sure the plant you are about to pick is almost touching the wagon. Then get off and walk in into the wagon like a wall it should stop you from going inside the tent

Thanks a lot for the locations it made it much easier I got all 4 plants in the same try (including 2 dino bones) Before I didnt know we could actually collect the english mace at the hill to the right of the shack near Donner falls Well the only way I can thank you Is by giving a tip you might already know Tip You can use photo mode to locate the plants and position your self perfectly This will be way more useful for the bones since if you try exiting the vehicle while the bone is to the left you will exit through the right this can surprise you and kill you So get close enough that arthur can exit through the left but not too close and be able to inspect the moment he exits and fun fact you cant die in middle of inspecting it But after your done you can be killed hopefully this helps someone reading this

I had great trouble with the desert sage location. Used the RDR2 Online Map and their desert sage location and found another a group near the "N" in New Austin. I tried just now and I accidentally targeted and picked the one that was opposite my actual target which was by the driver's side wagon wheel. Dispite that I just about picked it and was shot right at the end. I'm gonna keep trying that location because the one in this video I couldnt even target it (wasn't spawned properly? I have no idea...). My last one is this one. I'll keep you posted

@@jaketalalla9566 Bronte glitch works only during the mission, but not replay. That’s the only way to get it. You need to spook the law in cemetery and go to New Austin to collect and than return. All during the first walkthrough of the Bronte mission, so I’d recommend to make a save before it.

Valentine Cresent as far as I know it’s not patched. Few people in comments confirmed that it’s still working. Sniper could kill you through the wooden part of the wagon or it was simply unlucky dodging.

Just a question even though the the video isn’t about this but I have collected all the plants for herbalist 9 even having 43 out of 43 in my compendium. But the challenge says I only collected 42/43 do I have to recollect all the plants again or recollect a specific one?

Unfortunately yes. I know it's stupid, but you need to make a list by yourself about the plants. There's probably one plant you haven't study or eaten. But I still recommend searching for more information about it, cause there's mb another way.

A vital tidbit of info. When you get out of your wagon to pick up the herb, have Arthur turn around to face the wagon. This helps prevent the camera from clipping though the wagon. Use the radar to make sure Arthur is facing the right direction.

@@AtwayAkec I don't have the game installed anymore as it left Game Pass but I believe you need to change camera follow level (?) off and have the camera as zoomed out as possible. Make sure you have the wagon with the Appleseed logo on it as there's a very similar wagon which is way more common yet way less reliable. Check the herb isn't too far away in photo mode and angle the camera so the tent is protecting Arthur and not the wood.

When I entered the great plains I encountered pinkertons and was able to get away and picked the first feverfew near manteca falls. But when I was about to pick the second herb taking the path near stillwater creek pinkertons suddenly appeared out of nowhere and thats where I got clipped by them despite taking health potions every after 2 seconds. What path should I take to get all herbs without pinkertons suddenly spawning?

I just spent 3 days getting shot in the head, allow me to share my insights: -Put the plant right next to the front wheel, between the axel and the front edge. Use camera mode to verify this. -When picking up plants you need the camera zoomed out, but when traveling you want it zoomed in. Wait for the sniper shot and double tap the button to change it and it's pretty safe. -To cross great plains with almost zero risk, shoot all but one lawman, kite him out a bit, and then shoot his horse so he's chasing you on foot. If he loses sight of you shoot your pistol in the air like the cowboy you are.

Can confirm that this still works on PC 2020-08-13. A few pointers I figured out during: * Getting a cart (even after completing the Appleseed quests) is as easy as saving early morning in Strawberry, then running back and forth to Riggs Station until the cart spawns at the entrance-sign of Strawberry. Some people have said just waiting works, but I never had the patience to try. * Popping a minty big game and a lvl2 health fortifier and then gunning it through Beecher's Hope (sticking to the road) should get you through Great Plains just fine, but have an extra health potion ready just in case. * When lining up the plants, make sure the cart is leaning slightly to the right (so that as much of the canvas as possible is protecting you at all times) and that the plant is in line with the front left wheel/the seat of the cart. You can safely use Photo Mode for this. * Before getting out, move the camera so you can just see Arthur's hand and angle the view slightly looking towards the ground. Try not moving it until you're back on the cart. The biggest reason for me dying was playing around with the camera while collecting, so find a cart angle and a camera angle that works and try to replicate it for every plant.

For south-west Elizabeth it’s better to do it with the glitch on the mission where you need to return the reverend to the camp or where you need to search for a new camp with Charles. For new Austin it’s better to use the Bronte glitch, it’s still working but only during the mission.

Just did this, took about 4 hours, no where as bad as horseman 9 or 10 if you are trying ti get the hungarian half breed early, just got legends of the east outfit with arthur!!! Whup Whup!!!! also, having your horse chase you somehow keeps pinkertons off your back or your horse may take sum bullets for you...

Use one of the Appleseed wagons. I tried first using a normal covered wagon but it was much more difficult to keep from being shot. The Appleseed one has better cover. Basically just keep Arthur from being visible to the camera, and he will stay protected from the sniper shot.

It’s not only you, many had the same trouble. Make sure camera follow option is disabled and camera is in the most far position. Also you can try to practice on normal plants like normal sage etc before going to New Austin

Yeah the desert sage is most annoying. Mb try just play the game a little, if you’re on chapter 2 don’t rush it. Anyway you won’t be able to get the outfit until mid chapter 3. Do something else to relax a bit.

No, unfortunately it has to be Timber company wagon to get all the plants. The other wagons could work in theory, but it would be even harder. I tried many types and Timber wagon is the best.
