Red Dead Redemption 2 - Legendary Buck and Buck Antler Trinket guide which helps improve pelt quality while hunting in RDR2. Includes location and full walkthrough.
Welcome to my RDR2 Legendary Buck and Buck Antler Trinket guide. This video covers the location and everything required for tracking, hunting and killing the Legendary Buck. It also covers all of the steps then required for crafting the Buck Antler Trinket, which greatly increases your chances of getting an improved quality animal pelt in Red Dead Redemption 2.
The Legendary Buck is apart of the Legendary Animals side quest which is available to do from Chapter 2 and onwards. There are 16 Legendary Animals available in Red Dead Redemption 2 (not including fish) and killing 5 of them is required for 100% completion. All legendary animals have parts that can be harvested and then crafted into trinkets or talismans which boost certain stats or give certain perks to help aid gameplay in RDR2. Once the Legendary Buck has been killed you can harvest the Legendary Buck Antler and craft it into the Buck Antler Trinket.
Be sure to turn in the Legendary Buck Carcass and the Legendary Buck Pelt at the Trapper as the Legendary Buck Carcass can be sold for $31.50 and the Legendary Buck Pelt can be sold for $29 and used to craft various clothing items.

This trinket is sooooo useful when you’re collecting pelts for the satchels. I got the legend of the east satchel during story mode and man was that difficult even with the trinket, but probably nearly impossible without the trinket.

Yeah I never got around to making a vid for woodpeckers. I usually find mine by going to Cumberland Forest and listening out for the distinctive hammering noise they make when pecking the trees. When you hear it, activate eagle eye and you should be able to see it, if not just slowly move closer to the sound until you do.

I killed the buck and was talking to the trapper and while I was doing this I heard a grizzly roar. I’m doing my first play through and I’m getting my dad to help me and I had no clue what that was so I said “I heard a roar” and then I got jumped by a bear but I survived with ol’ reliable, mashing circle. Quick tip: don’t talk to that trapper without a DB because I grizzly might shownip

@@RedNitrate I didn't have a lot of time to type at the time but I wanted to say thanks. Other videos had me looking way to the south. I spent a few hours looking for it. Collected tons of pelts during that time. A bunch were perfect, which I had t gotten many of prior. But after I saw your video, I went north west a little more and found the buck. I loaded him on my horse to head to the trapper and got murdered by a cougar...lost all my pelts. At least I still get the trinkets and stuff

@@anewstandard.floors Yeah legendary animal spawns are notoriously tricky. They often don't pop up at all and require the player to reload the game several times before properly triggering. That's some super bad luck on the cougar though, those things are savage - gotten me many times lol.

@@RedNitrate I was disillusioned on the hunts because I easily got the wolf and beaver without trying. Just happened to come across the clues out of the blue while looking for other things. Each time it took a minute at most from the time I realized it was a legendary clue till I was skinning it. So I was thinking the hunts would be easy, just go to the area and I would see a clue. Buck stole 3 hours of my life. Lol

Hmm that's really odd. Even when it's a 2 star it will still only have a chance of upgrading to a 3 star, so either you've got super bad luck (like me lol) or the trinket is bugged, which I've heard reported from a few of my viewers.

Usually if you wait a few days to a week (in game time) the legendary hunt should respawn and you can do it again. Sometimes the items can be transported to the fence/trapper when lost so check there as well.

Sell it to the trapper and you can craft an putfit later. You don't have to take it off the horse

I stumbled upon the buck earlier in the game, so i dont know how much it impacted the easier hunting. I just know hunting is such a time-wasting content as it's hard as fuck just to get one perfect pelt. Finding perfect animal itself is time consuming, let alone hunting it, especially those tiny ones. But yeah, the difficulty brings more satisfaction at the same time

FYI you can buy this trinket from gus as well as the fence guy. Bring antlers and other item sell antler to gus BEFORE you can buy the trinket. Its odd but it works

The buck is particularly annoying to spawn sometimes, it has a very large search radius compared to other legendary hunts. All I can suggest is reloading your save/game and all that usual stuff. Good luck!
