Very good pistol. Love mine. I have a 43x and a 365, both comped. This Mossberg shoots smoother, with less recoil. Really like it.

I initially disparaged the "Safe Takedown System", but came to appreciate how easy it is to keep the striker channel clean. MC2c, one of the most underrated pistols out there.

Hello RDR Loved the video, but you didn't mention a couple of things. This is just about the 'perfect' under 450 dollar handgun for beginners. Also, the metal magazines. For a 'new shooter', this is definitely a 'plus'. A magazine that is durable, and tough enough to drop on the ground repeatedly without failure of function. The mags are from Italy, which is probably the best manufacturer of mags in the world, currently. Although you mentioned the stippling on the gun, you didn't mention that it's stippled both fore and aft on the grip, as well as on it's sides. Thus ensuring an even better grip upon the weapon. On top of all this, the fore part of the grip has a slight 'dimple' for the middle finger, aiding again to the overall security of the grip upon the weapon. The manner of disassembly is easy, and safe. Since the slide has to lock back to allow the removal of the striker plate. Thus ensuring that the owner has a clear view of an empty magazine well, and empty breach. The striker plate disassembly overall is easy, and any new owner can learn it in minutes. The 'in the box' directions allow for swapping the mag release to the other side for left handed shooters, with little, or no previous knowledge of disassembly of pistols, other than the included instructions. So, overall, this is a well thought out, well manufactured, reliable, and 'cheap' firearm. Made by a manufacturer that has well over a century of experience in engineering and building weaponry. That experience shows in all the features packed into this comfortable, reliable, well engineered, and 'cheap' weapon. Personally, as an 'entry' type weapon for someone unused to pistols, the striker plate disassembly is safer, easier, and anyone can learn to do it in a short time. The safety feature of locking back the slide, ensuring the weapon is unloaded, and thus 'safe' to disassemble, is to my thinking a very good feature for a 'new shooter' type of owner. And before you think I'm just some A**hat, just spouting off at the pie hole, I am a Marine. I was trained in weapons as an Enlisted Weapons Instructor at Quantico, VA. And I've been using weapons, practically since I could stand up and heft one, since my father was an avid hunter and provider for the family. Safety can never be stressed enough, and this weapon's design makes one be safe in disassembling it, just by good engineering. A plus in my book. spoken, Frank-ly

Just picked one up Two-tone. So far I love the feel in my hand and am really Impressed with the shooting feel, recoil, and accuracy. Mine came with 2 Ten round mags Though. Only bad thing I've ever heard is the break-down is awkward but I dont mind it at all. Overall I definitely have No problem making this my EDC

If not mistaken prior to making shotgun Mossberg made one of the first man millimeter pistols then switch to shotguns specifically. Shotgun are very reliable and manufacture very well wouldn't expect less for this 9 mm

I like your review. Hit the points about fit and feel and use. I'm trying to find a range within 200 miles of me that has the MC2c in its rental 'fleet' since us regular folks don't have connections to have one dropped off for us to try. Couple of weeks ago I went to a grand opening of a gun store/range that had manufacturer reps on location. Mossberg rep didn't even have an MC2c with him. I was hoping Mossberg would have made one available for the store to use for rent for the grand opening. Nope. Store had them for sale so I at least was able to handle it. Still hoping to track one down to try. I don't have the experience to trust buying a gun without trying it first.

the try before you buy is tough with pistols. I feel that If you are able to touch it, try the trigger sights etc, shooting the pistol is not really a concern for me, most 9mm pistols shoot the same.

@@rdrgear I'm a beginner still looking for my first gun so I admit I'm a bit leery of doing that. I have taken some instruction and rented some pistols, just not with the Mossberg yet. I did local a range that rents the MC1sc so I might try it though I understand there are differences between the two models.

@@benvincent24 the mc2c was my first pistol. I have the one with tritium night sights. I put in a trigger spring kit from MCARBO which made the trigger much crispier. I definitely recommend the mc2c as a ccw gun even if you're new to pistol shooting.

@@benvincent24 I’d have to agree with the gentleman below, you cannot go wrong with the Mc2c as your first EDC. I personally love it, low recoil, great accuracy, & feel in the hands. You won’t regret it as a first purchase.

I've had my MP2c only a couple of days, and have found removing the slide's back plate difficult (unlike in the videos I've watched). On mine, I have to pull and keep the striker assembly forward a bit to remove pressure on the plate before I can slide it out. 'Seems like a third hand would be helpful. Maybe the striker spring will relax a bit with use? The other annoyance is that the front tritium night sight is noticeably dimmer - by maybe 10 - 15% - than the tritium vials in the rear sight. It's not enough to send the gun back, but it's a disappointment (if anything, the front sight should be brighter than the rear). Still, the night sights are more useful than standard white dots in low light. Otherwise, I love the pistol's size and ergonomics, I found a great price online, and I'm looking forward to breaking-in the gun next week.

Easiest way to remove for me is to hold the gun by the slide pointing downwards in your weak hand and use your dominant hand pointer finger to push the backplate down and back towards you. Much easier than using the thumb in my experience.

Any thoughts on a pistol light that doesn't extend past the dust cover?
@rdrgear
@rdrgear 3 жыл бұрын
My .02 cents on Sub compacts of this size. No pistol light rub a hand held. Reason being. 1. Not many micro lights on the market that are worth a shit. The Tlr7a is by far the best currently. 2. The area where a light would be is where most holsters have their hardware to close them. So by adding a light the holster get significantly wider for what’s a very narrow pistol. 3. Once you are exposed to legit low light training. You will see how much more versatile a handheld light can be. And how much more powerful the light source is.
