I have the 476 and am really enjoying it. I just started experimenting with running my tracks out into analogue gear. But for some reason, the Volt is very finicky about the way I do it. It would only work when I ran out of Output 3 or 4. And I had to have the mono button engaged. Also, the latency is bad enough where even Logic's ping test wasn't enough to offset it. This is not the end of the world, but it does mean that if I bounce a track with effects and bring it back into my session I'd have to nudge it back into place. I think I may stick to simply running whole mixes through my analogue gear. That way the latency shouldn't matter since I won't be trying to line it up with anything else. If anyone has any other ideas for why I may be getting such extreme latency when I'm literally just running out of my Volt, into a dbx channel strip, and back into the Volt, I'd love to hear it. I want to get more analogue gear but don't want to be limited in how I use it (or to have to buy yet another interface down the road).

It's great that you can reamp directly. But what if you want to use it in this manner to send the track through an amp and or external effect? To re-amp one would still need a Re-amping device for proper level output. Am I missing something? Thank you for your time and insight with a response.

What’s the difference between the monitor output 1-2 and the direct out 1-2. I’m asking because I want to run tracks out of the computer from 476p and back into to my daw,

The monitor outs are connected to the monitor volume dial. The other outputs are not and are line-level outputs (DAW controlled level).

Is there somthing wrong with me or my hearing if I can't really hear a difference between all the settings? I could hear the change when the compressor plug-in was added, but barely noticed any change with the onboard vintage mode and analog compressor. Should I give up any hope of recording songs people will ever listen to?

Try listening on different speakers and headphones. You’ll be hard pushed to hear it on your computer/phone speakers. Listen to the mid range for vintage Mode, and the signal controlling with the compression.

Hello. I have purchased a universal audio volt 476p and want to use it for live performances as well. I have a connection problem. I need to connect a trumpet, a keyboard, a microphone to the interface and I have an iPad where I play the backing tracks, but I also need to use a mixer. So when I use the front inputs that come directly from the instruments and microphones and I use the outputs that then go to the mixer, only the two monitor outputs work, which are the first two channels that I connect to the mixer. The other outputs do not. Please can you help me with that kind of connection? Thanks

I’m having a hard time between this unit, or the SSL 12. I’m coming from the Apogee Duet 2 which I still have and will keep. I’m also recording sessions in garage band lately and then exporting the project into Logic desktop to mix. One other thing I have which can be used with both the UA and the SSL is a UA 710 tube preamp.

@clintonmaher6930
@clintonmaher6930 2 жыл бұрын
Almost every demo of these interfaces online fails to mention where the threshold is set for the compressor, and crazily UA don't even mention this in the manual. As a result almost all demos engage the compressor and aren't actually doing any compression because they are aren't reaching the threshold with the signal. The 6db extra gain is supposed to act as makeup gain for any compression done - the threshold seems to be at around -12db. So if you are using the compressor you need to go over this threshold level to actually do any compression otherwise all your are doing is engaging a gain boost.

When reamping, are outputs 3 and 4 bound to the headphones, like in the Focusrite 4i4? I want to use my guitar pedals as outboard gear in my DAW, but be able to track them in my headphones, which from what I’ve seen in other KZbin videos, isn’t possible in the 4i4. And by the way, in Volt, what’s the difference between the Monitor outputs and the regular outputs? Thanks
@EdThorne
@EdThorne 2 жыл бұрын
Good questions. So, you have the pairs of input and output monitor selectors so you can choose which combination of I/O you hear. The regular outputs are for sending out channels (for re-amping), the monitor outs are your default stereo outs you computer and DAW will auto set as outputs. Only these outputs are connected to the monitor volume dial.
@DanielPestanaTranslations
@DanielPestanaTranslations 2 жыл бұрын
@@EdThorne Thank you so much Ed. I truly appreciate it. So, in short, the monitor outputs are for my studio monitors and the regular outputs are for whatever I choose to do (like reamping, as you said). I assume the monitor outputs are the ones probably bound to the headphone output, since there’s no such thing in the Focusrite 4i4. Sorry for all the questions, I read their manual and it’s not helpful at all regarding this matter.

@@DanielPestanaTranslations Hiya, so OUT 1-4 are available from the USB driver and signal shows up on the 4 TRS line outs, you can use this to feed re-amp gear etc - but best to use 3-4 for that. This way you leave OUT 1-2 for your DAW monitor signal. In order to get that OUT 1-2 signal to the MON L/R outputs and to your speakers, you must select OUT1-2 in the monitor switch matrix. You can combine IN 1-2, IN 3-4 with this signal to hear whatever you are looping back in low-latency. You can also "pull" OUT 3-4 to your speakers in this way. I hope that helps. It's best to use 2 of the 4 USB channels for monitoring and 2 for hardware sends. They headphone output is tied to whatever MON L/R is listening too, so not tied to OUT 3-4 directly in any way, although if you route OUT 3-4 to MON L/R, it will be present in the Headphones then too.
@tommy_shooter632
@tommy_shooter632 2 жыл бұрын
@Daniel Pestana did you get this working at all? I bought a 4i4 and am so frustrated that Outputs 3/4 are bound to the headphones and couldn't get a reamp setup going at all. Bought a 476 (arriving next week) hoping I could get at least 1 channel I could use for mono reamping through pedals, seems that if I only use headphones (which is the case anyway) I might have up to 4 channels (doubt I'll ever go beyond 1/2 realistically). Really p*ssed off about the 4i4 though, really can't wrap my head around the design at all, and don't get me started on the Focusrite Control software haha

The LA2A included with this interface (for a short time only - see UA website for promo duration) would be available to use anywhere via a UA Connect account (Free) as are all the Native plugins with the Spark Subscription bundle.
