This, 1000 times this. It seemed like you were going a little stir-crazy being cooped up alone in your garage. Get out and have automotive related fun. You're an engaging and charismatic young lady. While I enjoy the progress on the project cars, "Adventures with Sarah" are great, even if it's just barely an adventure.

When you finish the sound deadening if you crush up the dry ice and put 90% rubbing alcohol in the bucket with it, it lasts longer and gets a bit colder and the material comes off in bigger chunks. if you let it sit till it finishes cracking it comes apart in bigger pieces too. I love your videos you are hilarious and very smart and skilled and super hot

Dave , there is a difference in the amount of spark , if there’s a load on the system
@Dave-fx5zw
@Dave-fx5zw 5 жыл бұрын
@@toestrrman The same current flow through the same air gap, only difference would be direction of flow with respect to the dissimilar metals of the terminal and the lug. That can make a big difference when talking about open circuit voltage and currents associated with welding, but on a 12v system you're doing something else wrong if you have enough load on the system for there to be a difference.
@SarahnTuned
@SarahnTuned 5 жыл бұрын
toestrrman there should never be a load on the system when your disconnecting or reconnecting a cars battery, if there is, you’d have a dead battery when the car is parked.

Let your garage cold soak overnight (door ajar or similar), get out there early then break out the dry ice. Much smaller temperature differential then. Also, put plastic over the ice, slows down the sublimation from solid to gas and allows more thermal transfer time.

Some tips: They make firewall pass-throughs for power cables. Essentially it's a bolt with a plastic bit around it. The plastic bit screws to the firewall to provide plenty of insulation from arching, which your grommet does not have at the moment. It's like a bolt with no head so you can put lugs on both sides. It's actually required because the vibration will cut through the wire jacket even with the grommet and cause a car fire when it arcs. You can also get a cheap pair of cable cutters for thick wire. You would have been able to cut through that heavy of wire easily. Solder your wires to help prevent corrosion. Even inside of the car.

@ 3:41 You might try using some brush on "Star Brite Liquid Electrical Tape" to weather-proof the positive terminal. You can buy it at Home Depot, or most hardware stores, or even on Amazon. The stuff costs about 7 US Dollars, and comes in a 4 oz metal can that has a screw on lid with an applicator brush (similar to rubber cement containers). It is available in 5 different colors, including black and red. It can create an air and water tight seal either directly over bare wires or terminals as a replacement for heat shrink, or as a sealant for a wire/cable pass-through hole of a terminal enclosure. Thank Scotty Kilmer for making me aware of it if you find it useful.

Think about who'll need to use the kill switch if it's needed and what they'll need to do to use it. Try to make it as easy as you can for them because it's nice to have you around, even if you do have a few scars. Personally I would mount it to the left of the steering wheel in where the air vent is. You could use the air vent a template for the mount. Mr Dos or Sir Codsworth both work. 94F is no joke so choose the one that doesn't make you hotter than you already are. Happy summer!☀️☀️☀️😀

The step bits are great and the good news is harbor freight has cheep ones that work good . Three pack of small ones and two pack of big ones well worth it. Use rubber tape then good 3m electrical tape over that it's what we use to cover the connections coming into houses, electricians that is. Big wire cutters at harbor freight also ,look like bolt cutters but for big wire. Geez like a harbor freight commercial.

For your weather proof terminals (and a tool or two) visit a store that is specialized in selling electrical supplies. The terminals you want are; "insulated black mechanical lug/" the total number of wire you have is how many ports you need (have three wires get three ports, 4, 4 ports....) there is a set screw inside the cap to compress the wire. If your unsure of the wire gauge, take a small piece of the largest wire you have, with you (you can set smaller with a big lug but, not go larger with a small lug). Also while there ask about a pair of " wire loppers" you'll not struggle to cat wire again. Lastly, pick up a roll of "33 (as known in the field" (scotch 33+) wrap the lug a few times, in the direction of the caps (that cover the set screws), as those can vibrate loose and fall out. if you want more insulation use 88, "3M Super 88" . If by chance you want to color coordinate the tape, 33 is black tape period, ask for 35 and say the color you want (35 is use to color phase electrical wires in a system). Google those item names and go to images, the items should pop up to give you an idea of what I'm talking about and you can determine if you want to go this route. Cheers !!!

Also be sure to install a substantial ground cable from the engine to the chassis, or you will not have a direct ground the way you have the ground cable bolted to the seat mount. Just because it runs this way. Remember the engine is mounted in rubber and electricity will find an indirect ground. If you want to know why and how this happens ask me. GM had this problem in 1973 on their B body cars that I diagnosed and wrote a technical service bulletin for tech's.
