How'd they mod the KH1 soundbank into Kh2?

They didn't, they used my premade track.

Expanding on this answer, this footage was recorded on the PC Port, which uses .scd files with an .ogg waveform base. But even if the PS2 versions of KH1 and 2 had been used for this, neither of them use one single master soundbank for all tracks in the game. Instead, both games use a .bgm file for the music's MIDI data, and each .bgm file has an associated .wd file that contains the soundfont data. So, Dearly Beloved uses one piano, but Hollow Bastion uses a different one, little differences like that. This means you could literally just drop a KH1 .bgm and .wd file into KH2 and it'll sound exactly the same as it did in KH1.
