Thanks for the video. My local Ringgold Dodge dealer wanted $1000 to change these parts. After watching the video I decided I can do this on my own and did and saved a ton of money. It took me about 2 hours from start to finish dropping the pan and cleaning it up and replacing the parts then closing it back up. The truck shifts great like it should.

I ordered the master solenoid kit for my 48RE from you guys a few days ago, and just recently installed it. Transmission works like it's supposed to now. The kit was great! Good packaging, included all the parts and gaskets. The small things make all the difference - including the misc gaskets and whatnot. The only notable difference is my torx bolts were T25's, not T20. The 48RE is mated behind a 5.9 diesel out of a '04 Ram 2500.

8-7-2014 I2001 Dodge Ram 1500 I had this problem a few months back, took it to a Mechanic, charged me 350 dollars and 17 dollars for a sensor. It was better but not right. It did it again, My friend told me about your video. I bought the two parts from Auto Zone, 197 dollars plus oil, gasket and filter. It took me about what you said to do the work. Set up, drain, gasket and filter another hour. I ran it 3 miles with no problem. I drove it home, 23 miles and it shifts like a charm. I don't know what the guy I took it to put it, but it wasn't these two parts., I will never use him again. Thank you for your time it took to make the video and your knowledge you shared.

Very Informative, Thank you very much. Just got done doing this work today after ordering parts online. Your information here saved me lots of money and more importantly time and backache by describing the exact size of the nuts and torques that way I could grab every tool i needed before sliding under the truck rather then getting up and down 15 times to get the right sizes and tools. Much appreciated and again Thank you!!! (also fixed the issue i was having, truck was reving but not shifting properly and 3rd gear was all but useless, at high speeds would try to speed up and truck would go to 3rd only to switch to 2nd and redline in acouple seconds. All seems to be operating properly now 'knock on wood' and would not shift out of any gear unless at or above 3.5k rpms, was rather annoying and gas consuming,)

Thank you, you were thorough, I was focused on the overdrive solenoid because I think that’s my problem. My 2002 newer gen takes long to drop into last gear, but if I let off gas it immediately goes into the gear. If I don’t let off gas it won’t go to next gear until I let off gas. Great video, you know a lot about Chrysler/dodge transmissions….

Great info... Thanks.. Got an Auto 42RE that when warmed up(when cold, no problem!!!) will not easily shift into the next gear after stoping at a red light. It starts in the very lowest gear and then gradually shifts, which means you BETTER NOT STOP IT ON A HILL GOING UP!!! It has only one speed sensor but I bet that solenoid needs replacing too. Wanted to add that the Pressure Sensor on the OLDER models (non black plastic one in the video but the brass colored cylindrical pressure sensor on older models) has a metal retainer clip that holds it into the aluminum block. If you don't replace the paper casket it covers this clip and you may not know it's there. I was doing these on a 99 Dakota 4x2 with a 6cyl engine and just thought this may help someone else. I wasn't going to replace the paper gasket as mine was fine but that clip was hidden in the aluminum block by the gasket. It's not in your video because you're working on the newer plastic ones. Just an extra step some may not know. Glad to be done with this job, for the time being anyway.

I bought this kit from Cascade and used this video as a reference.. Great Video, Very Helpful. The only thing missing, which became a major headache for me, was how to get the Park Rod to release from the Transmission, when the Trans. is still in the Vehicle. After many attempts to "ease the park rod out", with Zero Success, I discovered the following steps were required to release the park rod so it could be "Eased out"... 1. Make sure the Vehicle is chocked to keep it from rolling. 2. Put the Transmission in Neutral. 3. When you are ready to remove the Valve Body, Jack Up One of the Rear Wheels, so the tire can be turned/rolled. 4. Slowly turn the tire, while you are attempting to "Ease" the Valve Body(VB) toward the front of the Transmission, as demonstrated in the video. (Having a Friend turn the tire will make this much easier.) It is my understanding that the park rod will be prevented from removal and/or install by the Transmissions internal Park Mechanism. Turning the tire apparently rotates a internal component and will release the rod, so it can be easily removed... (Unfortunately, I did not know this procedure when I removed my VB and it was nearly impossible to remove, until it suddenly popped out of park and the truck moved... It went back in like butter, using this technique.) I hope this helps...

With only 2-3 seconds might be just a minor short or damaged ground lead - would clean and inspect those first Overdrive light often output speed sensor or wiring issue (gear ratio error) Trans temp signal comes from the pressure sensor (transducer) but on older trucks worth making sure no cooler or line restrictions : not likely if you're maint has been that solid

Well this was awesome to see! My transmission guy is retired but he's been around since '68 and knows his chit. Told me this was an easy job and your video confirms that. I have codes P1762 and P1763 in my 46RE 318 Ram. The Ram has been religiously maintained since I got it new off the lot in '98. Decommissioned it a year ago but would run it to temp every month. Last month though, wouldn't come off the line in 1st gear and I couldn't manually pull it into gear either. I grew up wrenching pre chip cars and while I"m older and this messy job is a pain in the butt for me, I'm going to take it on cause I no longer have a shop that I can trust. P.S. Any special procedure for putting the pan/gasket back on? Thought I remembered something about this but...
@CascadeTransParts12 жыл бұрын
yes this is the Borg Warner direct fit solenoid , we also carry the Extreme Duty GM Conversion solenoid which mounts to the valve body via a Billet Aluminum Machined Block. you can reuse the base gasket about half the time , we also offer them new on our site
@CascadeTransParts11 жыл бұрын
it may be the pressure set , but it sounds like a conbination of electrical and/or mechanical. Inside the transmission on top of the valve body is the detent arm which is the engagement arm inside for linkage. We do see these crack from time to time. It could also be a blown boost valve cover plate , or cracked servo.

Hello , a burnt or burning smell is more than likely the clutch plates ; possibly a band i would suggest dropping the pan , and inspecting the fluid and magnet. if you have any fibers or fine metal debris in the bottom of the pan your problem may be serious. If things are fairly descent it may be as simple as a band adjustment. The burning smell isn't typical for these models though.

yes it can cause late or delayed shifting , it can also have a variety of other off symptoms if it is having a late shift only from specific speeds example (only from 2nd to 3rd) , then the problem may be related to a valve body , etc...
@CascadeTransParts12 жыл бұрын
ok , that says its not seeing a clean pressure until you let off the throttle that issue could be the sensor/transducer , and or the Solenoid we always suggest to replace them as a set anyways , your symptom is especially common on 2000 and newer models
@CascadeTransParts12 жыл бұрын
yes thats correct you would need all the electrical (except the pressure solenoid) from the 99' , and install it into the 00' transmission. as mentioned you will need the heat shield also as the sensor configuration is quite different. I welcome further questions ; feel free to email me through our website via the contact us page.

typically a code will be triggered when a problem is an electrical item , but not always. They can tend to have a mind of their own. No code can also lean us toward a mechnical issue as well. Some best options may be to thoroughly check everything over. Drop the pan , and seek anything visible , etc...

@CascadeTransParts11 жыл бұрын
Hello Pat , you may have more than one issue. the 2nd gear starts are most commonly the pressure solenoid set the Tcc code coming up can be caused by a ground issue as well , which these models can be known for. Additionally the 02 sensor , and/or the Tps can cause this code to trigger as they share the same ground. Please feel free to email me further through our Site.
@CascadeTransParts11 жыл бұрын
sounds like you have two things occuring - the shifting up and down between 1st and 2nd is called hunting ; generally a governor pressure solenoid kit will cure this issue. As far as the slipping , it could be the front band , or another issue tough to say for sure.

I was able to make the repair quickly and easily but I did find a few inches of a snap ring in my trans while doing so. Not sure where to go from here, or maybe it should just be driven until the transmission fails on that end.
