Royal Enfield 650 twins. Attempting to add more confidence and composure to my bike. Stock suspension is a bit soft. Weight transfer front and rear is more than I like. The rear shocks do take care of this and plants the power down when accelerating.
Only one 7 mile ride on the interstate. Feels less skittish but, need more miles to tell.
In wrap up the ride is stiffer. You fell the bumps. Setting is currently at the softest settings and no preload. Expecting the shocks to break in and become a little less firm.
Will come back with another video after I spend more time with it and do some adjusting after the break in period.

Nice logo on the Glitter & Dust tank.I got the YSS fork upgrade & I had to add 2 more clicks of preload to rear stock shocks & already had 2 on them so only got 1 click of preload left on stock shocks.I too was thinking of getting the 10% stiffer springs from Hitchcocks for my stock rears.Do a video on them if you get them.My Yss forks have broken in & I was using the recommended 15wgt oil but 10 would be ok as now mine have broken in I might soften it up a little & start playing round with settings.

You know....I really would love to upgrade to the YSS fork kit. Was just a little to expensive for me at the time I was upgrading. Honestly, with a few hundred miles under my belt since the springs I feel they are still too soft. May need to change the fork oil?

@@brelandte If you look around on Ebay you can find varying prices on Yss shocks for 350-$380nz so $170-$190us roughly & will give you emulators & the freedom to adjust your own preload. Are you still using shitty R.E fork oil still which is really thin like 2wgt apparently.Changing to a 15wgt oil be the one.

@@brelandte Watch that video. Those Nitron one's are flash but you don't need them unless you rich.I reckon you'd be actually be better off saving up & getting the Yss fork upgrade instead of the 10% stiffer springs.Cause you going to have to replace springs & fork oil you may as well just do the whole kit cause it is a similar job to replace springs or do the whole Yss fork upgrade kit.It is also the best mod you can do for the R.E 650's & you won't have lost out to much money on the spacers. Also it will work really good with your rear shocks & once the forks done about 300km you can start playing round with the soft or hard adjustment if you aren't happy with Yss recommended base 30% setting untill broken in.

what is the bottom part for where you can adjust the 14 clicks? How is that different than the preload adjustment at the top?

I believe this adjustment changes how much oil can flow past the shock piston. The preload only takes up slack in the spring.

How are the shocks going?

Hi Josh. I'm glad you asked. I hadn't given them much thought lately. Mostly because I haven't noticed much. I suppose that is a good thing. The bike handles well and they soak up the imperfections. I adjusted the preload last week. Instructions states to give the shocks some time before doing this so I have. Again, didn't notice anything. My version has the 15 adjustable settings (some do not). I still have mine on the lowest setting. Seems that all are too firm for me despite me being 6'1" and 200 pounds. Could only imagine how they would feel for a lighter person....

Well, still a bit to stiff for me. I have them on the lowest settings still. I tried twice going up one click, but the tail just bounces over everything rather than staying planted. Not sure why?

@@joshurrr I started watching the MAM video on the shocks. Haven’t finished it yet but so far really great information. Going on vacation this week and when I get back I will start looking into the YSS. Thanks
