We see how jho is ed level and how savage jho beats garuga, and garuga is an apex level monster (just like astalos) him beating jho is probably because jho was HR and garuga GR. I know it sounds stupid but there is a difference lore-wise. Astalos would put up a good fight with jho but he would ultimately get killed.

This guy is my favorite monster in the entire series, it’s just awesome incarnate, I mean the crazy fucker straight up tackles Rathalos into the earth from what must be hundreds of feet in the air. I am really salty he hasn’t made it into World nor Rise yet, hopefully the new gen version of him will be able to be even more badass with the increased speed and crazyness of the newer games.
