What's funny is the implied sadness, the Emil we meet in Automata isn't the OG, just a copy, and the copies simply endlessly repeat, which means that Emil is doomed to forever regain his memories and die again and again, all while the OG isn't anywhere to be seen. Depressing is Nier after all.

Nier tried to save Yohna from the Black Scrawl, and if he'd found the cure, AFAHK, that would save everyone on Earth who suffered from it, maybe banish the Shades too. The fact he was 100% wrong did not pay off! But Nier was trying to save Yohna and by extension the world. This is what Nier, Kaine, Weiss and Emil fought for. They just had horrible misinformation. I wonder what Miss Information had to do with that.

Should I mention that he always was willfully ignorant about the true identity of the Shades and doesn't care if they're sentient? Nier won't even do anything to know the truth and will rather just go hack everything down with his sword, the Beepee Kalil arc showcases that, Gideon literally just said "Go kill this thing" and the Party goes to kill it not questioning the obviously deranged spoiled child if he's saying the truth because "shades" are involved. Stop saying the party is misinformed, Nier didn't care nor would even care, Kaine do not give a fk despite knowing the truth nor even bothered to tell the party and Emil is just a naive forever child who only thinks his friends is doing the right thing even when presented with literal truth to his face. Replicant party will never be the "Good guys", no matter how much you try to paint them as justified for what they had done.
