Starting my reread of Jasmine Throne with my friend has been really good, taking it slowly but loving being back in the world. Can't wait for the Oathbringer live, hopefully Ill be back from Tabletop Scotland in time to catch it.

Agreed with absolutely everything you said about Jasmine Throne. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts once you finish The Skin and Its Girl. I didn't realize Sarah Pinsker had a new book out! Adding that to my list.

I need to revisit the Jasmine Throne. I read it while I was in traffic and that colored my enjoyment of it. Haunt Sweet Home sounds interesting! 🌸

Oh no I had forgotten how badly I wanted to read The Jasmine Throne and now I can feel all my reading plans derailing because of your gushing again lol. Hope things get less crazy over there, take care! 🥰

just finished cetaganda and i think that's really the first book where i've been noticing miles faults a bit more. like miles, you do realize ur mansplaining? miles, do you *have* to poke the bear? hasn't gotten to the point where i'm beyond fondly annoyed yet tho just picked up the jasmine throne from the library, excited to get started! i feel like this is somehow the first time i've heard a description of what the book is actually about/who the characters are which and you have me even more intrigued

It sounds like you'd love Burningblage and Silvereye series. It's Star wars inspired. The jedi are controlling knowledge and decide what's forbidden. One POV is a Jedi who wants to do good and is kinda blind to all the privilege she has, another is a thief who wants to destroy the order for selfish reasons and because he believes everyone should have access to knowledge. Also the forbidden magic can be used for necromancy and strong healing and it can be practiced by anyone.

Yes, Miles messes up big time, and it was nerve wracking waiting to see if he makes better choices, and then the subsequent books are some of my absolute favs :) A Civil Campaign is probably my favourite Miles book (though Cordelia's Honor is still the best Vorkosigan book :)

So glad your pets are ok ❤ Yay! My library has The Jasmine Throne. There's so many books I want to read that my library doesn't have. Also, what sweater you are knitting or did you draft it yourself? I'm knitting little mushroom ornaments while watching this. Happy Friday!

I had heard about The Jasmine Throne, but I never really knew what to expect from it. From your description in this video, it sounds REALLY interesting. I'll have to add the series to my list. My September has started strong, too. I've read Tudo É Rio, by Brazilian author Carla Madeira, and I *really* liked it. After that, I started The Poppy War, which is my second RF Kuang book (I've read Babel in February or so) and I'm liking it too, although I'd have preferred if it wasn't in a school setting. But it's fine, it's still good. Also, I've only read 4 chapters, so things will probably change a lot still🏵

💮 I'm only about half way through The Jasmine Throne and Ninefox Gambit. Only half way for NG because my brain needs processing time for this world and TJT because I'm enjoying every bit of the characters and world.

The way you talk about jasmine throne makes me wish I had the same experience you did 😅 I totally agree with what you said but it somehow didn't hit the same

Hi, young lady. I like your vlogs so much, even though I'm not generally drawn to those genres. Where are you that Autumn is starting (no need to answer)? I'm here in sunny, sunny So Cal and we're under a heat advisory. It's been just miserable, with today (Sunday) forecast at 103°F, or 39.5°C. I'm currently reading Loved and Missed, by Susie Boyt as part of my Short September. Enjoying it so far. Passing, by Nella Larsen and The Bluest Eyes, by Toni Morrison are on deck. The latter is slightly over 200 pages but MY RULES. 🥀💐🌺
