Thank you for the advice. I have gotten a few comments about the music in my videos and I am working on it. I'm not sure if you have seen my last couple of videos, but let me know if the volume of the music getting better. Or do you think I shouldn't use background music at all? Let me know you thoughts. Thanks for watching

If you want to keep the background music, you can EQ the music to not overlap in terms of wave range with your voice.

Weirdly the music keeps me focused on the content. My brain mutes the music because it’s repetitive, but I can see it being distracting for most.

I love this video!! So many good things for us ADHD-brained folks!! I love the music, but the volume made it slightly hard to hear and focus on your voice, which focus is tough for me anyway LOL. If it could be about 25% quieter it would have been perfect for me! Just my feedback, thanks for sharing!!

I love colouring in the check box after I've completed a task. Omg it feels so good. Also I've tried to get cleaning to feel satisfying and I think maybe that's releasing dopamine. I call it resetting the space back to its original clean state. Took many many years to get it in my head

My issue with Task Management is that it's my safe place I go to not to get anything done, but get something done. I hear "Rich why wasn't this done?" Then I'm too embarrassed to say "Because I got distracted planning it in task management. Which my old system needed to be revamped for the 20th time because this one seemed more interesting to me until I got halfway through it then this other one was more efficient then I got about a quarter of the way through planning it out there........... no, no, no the original system was best so let's go back to that. Oh look it's time to clock out."

These were great! I have a doctorate in physical therapy, have 3 kids and a wife and I'm just starting to learn that I probably have undiagnosed ADD/ADHD based on hearing patients talk about their symptoms and how they manage the condition... Listening to your tips, the reasons and what you feel with them makes so much sense to why I've done some of them in the past and why I feel overwhelmed when I lose those disciplines!

As for changing language, instead of "I have to/need to do" I use "I can do" or "I will do", or even"what can I do", this bypasses the "no one tells me what to do -not even my self-resistance" 😅 Great video 🥳

Work can be a real stress-fest, but having some backup can definitely lighten the load. Still, it's frustrating when AI just can't seem to grasp what you really need. Case in point: I come home to a stack of a thousand spreadsheets to fill out and 50 emails to blast out after a grueling 12-hour workday. 😩 It's a major bummer because by the time I'm done, my productivity's tanked, and it feels like I'm just spinning my wheels...

It's a real hassle all around when you're tackling a project that needs to be developed quickly and requires unique research. This whole process becomes cumbersome, slowing down my workflow. Finding the exact solution is rare and quite challenging. 😓 It feels like hitting a wall sometimes!

There's a ton of help out there online, but there's a big difference between a digital assistant and a digital taskmaster. Not too long ago, I was working on a project that involved wrangling a spreadsheet with 2500 characters, each needing to be unique. I tried searching for solutions, but it didn't help one bit. Ended up having to ditch the whole project...

Great content! I definately struggle with the "Have to" vs "want to" and am going to try adding your suggestion. I'm going to us "I 'want' to do this because..." though, just to remove the 'have'. It's like a trigger word or something. I also like the camera suggestion. Hoping that will help with accountability. Thanks for putting this out there!
@pjp9383
@pjp9383 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely perfect, and if I'm consistent about using "want to" instead of "have to"/"need to", then I don't usually even need to stop and think of a "because." Because sometimes it's as simple as "because it's what the job requires and I like my job overall," or, "because all my clothes/dishes/surfaces are dirty and I need something to wear/eat from/sit on."
@avidrucker
@avidrucker Жыл бұрын
I have a problem with "want to" because I feel it doesn't fully capture importance nor desire, and I feel it comes off as "I only do what I want to do" which, while that may be fundamentally true, I think the issue really is motivation and, more broad speaking, executive functioning capacity. I'd like a concise, simple way of saying, "this is something I've decided I will attempt to do" without sounding confused about what matters, what needs to be done for effective/healthy/constructive action/outcomes, etc.. Like, for example, taxes, laundry, finding a new place to live when my lease is up, applying for jobs, etc. where I subjectively dislike/hate/do not enjoy the tasks, but at the same time, find it necessary to find the motivation to take meaningful action towards these endeavors.

Just found this channel, and I'm very grateful. (I wish the music was a bit quieter personally.) I have a notebook for work, one for my personal life, and one for creative writing (that's my version of taking videos). It can be hard, because once I've written everything down I tend to avoid it, or forget about it. Like taking a video, but never going back to see the notes you made for yourself. It's still the best system for me that I've found, but wish to god I was more productive. I have to do twice the work for half the results as other people.

Just found your channel. It's excellent to see this. I thought of a camera watching me. Yet I love video out in natural surroundings. It's been 3 years and I just can't get in to the groove to get content out there. I got over 1500 vids, and a lot of short story ideas etc. No cigar. Hired a coach. Had to quit. Not happy with the progress. Your video alone has given me a missing piece of the puzzle that is my goal. Thanks.

Love the content in these vids, but can you please tweak the background music to audio volume ratio? Maybe it's one of my inattentive traits but made listening for the nuggets of info just that little bit harder. Currently they sound 50:50 to the voice... Would you consider seeing what others thinks. Cheers, love your work.

I'm so relieved that I am not the only person like this, haha. I've tried paper task lists and journals. I stopped. I tried Notion. I stopped. My problem was trying to use all these other systems that were designed for someone else. My best type of task management is Post-it notes. The only problem I have with it is that it wastes resources over time. But I do get the enjoyment from writing my tasks on one, knocking them out, and then tossing them away.

Yes the task management wording has to be changed. I shut down, I always say I rebel against myself when I tell myself "I have to". I try to trick brain with different wording. Bc I'm a visual person, the most helpful strategy to get myself motivated is to watch KZbin videos of the task I'm trying to get motivated to do...cleaning, organizing. I like body doubling, I don't use them to push me or shame me, I just feel better when I have someone over and I can whistle while I work 😉

Hi I just found your channel and I am loving these tips! The “body double without the body” idea is intriguing. I was just thinking about that bc I don’t really have someone available to body double with during the day. This list I paste into things 3 who seperates it automatically. Yeah... it works.

I am a mixture of both. I do need a decent task management system to be in place because otherwise I end up in a loop of starting something, remembering something else I need to do, starting that thing, remembering another task... Each time I remember something it derails me and I end up in a loop getting nothing meaningful done. However, if I have my tasks managed and I'm not convinced I'm forgetting something important (or at least less convinced I'm forgetting something important) it is easier for me to start something and keep going with it. But I do still have to convince myself to start...

So here's what I do: I use TickTick as a TO-DO list and put everything I need to do there. Everyday I create a list for the day and write all the things I want to do in the day. When I have something that is not that important and can be delayed I put it in the DELAYD list of to-dos. For more complex planning I use either Joplin or Obsidian. Joplin comes when I know I will need the notes at easy access on my smartphone. Obsidian comes when I'm planning some Long-Term idea that I want to do and because I don't have any synchronization mechanism, it's only stored on my notebook (I know, I need to solve this problem). To do boring tasks like washing the dishes I listen to interesting podcasts or good music. To overcome the task initiation barrear it is basecally dependent on how good I was in breaking the task in small and direct steps and write it in the TickTick TO-DO list. The other method for task initiation is starting a counter when I decide to start the task so I will be motivated to not get distracted, because if I get, then I will have to stop the counter, since what we want here is honesty in how much time we are taking to get the task done. With this you will know how long specific tasks takes to you and will be able to better plan your day. To do this I use an android app called Simple Time Tracker.

I've just started my new (and hopefully last) task management system. It involves only focusing on one task at a time. This is the part that really opened up the world of ADHD productivity to me. What I did was create five lists: - One Routine Task - One Personal Task - One Business Task - Inbox - All Tasks The first three aren't actually lists, because there's only one task on each of them at any given moment. But for the sake of argument, I call them lists. Also, I'm using TickTick for the system. I've found that it's the most useful and affords me the most control. If anyone needs help setting up such a system, or wants to talk about their ADHD with respect to productivity, I'd be happy to talk.

I'd love to hear about your setup in TickTick. I saw you can estimate the time and set a pomodo focus for that task to improve estimating how long things take. My wife and I work together and use Asana but I find it overwhelming.

The music is soooo loud and distracting that I'm having a full blown rock concert in my room with your voice talking over it! 😂🎉🫡😝🤟

Your KZbin channel deserves far more views. The color, the background, the music and ofcourse the content are great. Keep them coming. I keep two lists with me - aha and oho. Aha for all the ideas, random tangents etc and oho - for all problems - getting groceries to sending an email. Most importantly, it helps with clearing the distractions off my mind and continue to work whatever I was working on. My two cents. May I recommend using tags on your videos?

As someone with ADHD, here’s what I’ve found helps me with task initiation. 1. Set a timer. I’ve been using a task management tool called Sunsama that allows me to estimate the time for each task AND set a time when I’m doing it. It’s been completely game changing for me. 2. Set deadlines with external accounting for my work projects. For example, if I plan to host a webinar, I advertise the webinar publicly, get people signed up then work on the presentation. I need projects with set goals, I need to feel the pressure. 3. Keep it simple with tasks. I usually plan to much which leads to overwhelm so I’ve been working on estimating my time and usually I can do half of what I set out to do.

You need to test your output. Music make it hard to listen yo your words. I wounder how you can be serious. Or perhaps you real need it to run a music channel 🤔
