The Eaton switch is cracked between the bolt and the back plate which will result in a flashover to earth in the event of an under load disconnect. Respect for addressing that connection. It would most likely also have arced inside under load resulting in that phase overheating. Also, it really riles me when I see people use insulation tape instead of heatshrink. Insulation tape is never more than temporary.

If you have a dremel kit, you can resharpen your cutters and buff them up. Even if they are blown or have gaps from cutting something you shouldnt have.

Get yourself a Klauk Mini battery op crimper used one for years far better than any hydraulic one and the pistol style electric crimper so heavy if you have to do many in an hour Go for the kit with as many dies as possible a lovely tool to have and use day in day out Two batteries a must for continuous working Nothing worse than getting two phases crimped and a dead tool !

Seeing what the tools they used in this video, I can only call it lame. I use hydraulic crimper for even 16mm2 BVR wire and they just use hand crimper for 100A wire?
@residualelectrical
@residualelectrical Жыл бұрын
We used a hydraulic crimper for the current carrying cables, hand crimped was for the CPC which doesn’t carry current, the hand crimper also caps out at 25mm2 👍🏼

@@residualelectrical I'll commute.. It's only 3 hours haha. Damn, wel see bro. I would love to. I've seen SO many bad quality things and seeing you take care and make intelligent decisions with everything you do, since you know electrics aren't something to mess around with, is just inspiring tbh. Your'e a credit to the trade mate.

A couple of suggestions (teaching you to suck eggs) ... Get some decent site lights, will make life (and the videos) better. I'd use a hole punch instead of trying to drill/hole saw in to cabinets. If you come across tight lugs with the crimps already fitted, stick a screwdriver where the wire would go and lever against that. I've found some devices are more robust when tightening, as opposed to undoing.
