Obviously, there is going to be quite a few people coming in here talking about "censorship". I'm going to address that in this comment and ideally never again, because it reads like a massive nothingburger. I agree to some extent that it is censorship for TV, that part is true, but the way people are throwing around the word is massively sensationalized and used to paint a picture of a broader issue that doesn't exist. This isn't the woke left infecting anime, this isn't government intervention, it's probably done to fit timeslots. I agree that censorship of art can be a bad thing, but when it: 1. Doesn't change the characters in any way 2. Is so minor some people didn't even notice it because it's basically just covering 5% more skin I don't think it's worth talking about. I think sexualizing children is bad, shocker, so Liliana, who unambiguously looks like a child, being slightly more covered up as well as looking generally more adult in the animes artstyle, is strictly a good thing. Capella I do agree wasn't really a massive issue, but I'm also perfectly fine with her redesign (reiterating once again how MINOR it is.) and I can appreciate these characters designs being brought more in line with male character designs in the anime. I don't think women wearing less clothing is bad, because I think you can easily go too far and end up going into the "womens bodies are inherently sexual" direction. However, with Re:Zero's trend post-arc 4 of female characters (Lilliana, Capella, Shaula, Arakiya, Medium, The Shudraq) all basically being 90% naked, it paints a broader picture that I'm not fond of, and it's that their designs aren't comparable to the creativity, intricacy or grandiose scale of the male characters. (Chisha, Regulus, Vincent, Cecilus, Balleroy, Flop, Olbart, and probably more). Of course, Re:Zero also has exposed men like Kafma or Al, but they are generally the exceptions, not the norm. It reads as something purely done to pander the male readers, and it is just frustrating, because I want the women to also have fantastic designs later on like Yorna's. I don't want them to purely be people to look at because they are hot, when they can be hot AND have cool designs! More Yorna's, less Arakiyas. I find this discourse to be extremely bad faith, as nobody ever accuses the LN of being censored for Felt's redesign, nor do they have anything to say about Emilia's chest clearly being more exaggerated in S3, so I'm not really interested in engaging in this conversation further, but I thought I'd throw out my thoughts on the "censorship" topic.

It can be easy to look at a trailer like this and reduce the discussion on the animation quality to "it looks pretty," but you really managed to articulate how the animation adds to the work as a whole. Arc 5 is the arc which stands to benefit the most from an anime adaptation. It being so focused on action and concurrent events lends itself much more to a visual medium, allowing the setpieces and battles to flow more naturally. Another benefit is how the pace being quicker will benefit several sequences and characters, specifically, Liliana. I myself did not find her all too bad on my read of Arc 5, but the general sentiment of her being "too much" is certainly clear. There's genuinely a chance that a lot more people might be more open to liking her with how her presence will be felt differently across the medium. Season 3 has the chance to be the best adaption Re:Zero's received yet, not constrained by Season 1's need to adapt so much material and without certainty of continuation nor Season 2's various production issues. This PV has alleviated most of my worries. While the jury's out for Arc 6, I am certainly looking forward to seeing Arc 5 in anime form.

Also, UV damage does not necessarily have to do with air temperature or LST. Id say that I disagree for Capella to be covered up mainly because shes the archbishop of lust, sure you can show that in other avenues but the original design worked fine with conveying that so why would you need to change it to begin with? Im sure it's not going to affect too much, and from the looks of it, her presentation should go smoothly. I actually perfer Lilianas redesign personally, though I still disagree with censorship of any form, so I would say givin the choice, I'd keep it to the original. Just because while the redesign is more comfortable to look at, it's not what was the original for what Tappei wrote or what Shinichiro drew. The actual reason for the censorship is probably time slots in japan. If I remember correctly, rezeros used to be at midnight. They may have lost it. I've heard talk about that, though I should clarify. It's just talk that I've heard, nothing concert to give on this subject. I don't think I'd mind Shaula redesign though, in that case, there is no loli excuse, so its reason would literally be that they didn’t like it. Thats kinda poor reasoning from my view as an artist. But hey, just a personal view of mine at the end of the day. An alright video outside of my personal views on the matter, I can't wait for season 3.

Even then, he approved of the artists design as it would go through him first before putting it in the LN. Maybe the artist took some liberties, but from what I read in the book, it seems to be accurate, I'll comment further when I'm home so I can look for what I mentioned in the books.

@peppermint3808 alright so one thing of note is in vol 16 Julius tell Subaru to keep an eye on Betty when near Kirataka, because Betty and Liliana look the same age, and Kirataka has a thing for Liliana so much so he's referred to as the minstrel lover in his own city. So liliana is meant to be a Loli character. Tappei isn't afraid of putting lolis/child characters in situations like that. If the lust IF is anything to go by. I'm not saying I like it. I'm just saying what there in the text. I'll admit, though, Loli stuff doesn't really bother me as long as it's not too extreme, so I'm looking at this from a more pragmatic view. It's weird but not hurting anyone, so I've got no issues personally. Sure, I'd like it to not go extreme, but if anything, I can just not watch it.

(Speaking in someone who hasn't read or watched RZ), the trailer looked pretty cool. While no dialogue feels a bit silly, the cool artstyle and lighting is so fascinating. The OST was hype to listen to and the few action scenes were crisp and moved fluidly. Sadly we will not be seeing Asa react to One Piece All joking aside, I'm glad you guys are getting nice looking adaptation!

The trailer makes me optimistic. I really think Arc 5 will be handled quite well. I was mostly impressed by the character art which looks so good, especially with the new designs. Another thing is storyboards, I'm a sucker for good storyboards and damn theres a lot of interesting shots. Action animation is decent as well. It doesn't look too high profile but it's good enough and directed well. Better than season 2 definitely The only issue i have is the heavy digital effects on the 2d animation (both fx and characters). Some look weird and they'd honestly look better if toned down. The only gripe i have is if the new director will be able to pull off the psychological aspect of the show. He seems to be able to handle other aspects really well. I do hope he ends up cooking his hidden recipes for Arc 6 (if it's adapted).

There’s so many minor things that really elevate this trailer and give me so much hope. Capella looks great, I love how she has actual subtle muscle definition in her arms, she looks more alive that way. And what I especially adored in the scene with Emilia placing her hand to her chest and lowering her head - there’s so much subtle motion in her shoulders that didn’t need to be drawn, but sell the actual motions she’s doing so realistically! If anything, it’s the major improvements over season 2 and the consistency we’ve noted so far that makes me so excited to finally indulge in the weekly anime experience again.

I kinda disliked the art style upon watching the trailer. It's so like a generic isekai. Lots of shine and color. I just prefer s1 style. Some inconsistensies: why is garfs tiger arm glowing lol. Why are emilia booba 2x size. Why does julius look so fabulous. Action shots look kinda off/silly sometimes. The effects are meh. Based on the little bit that we got, sound design is much worse than before. Pros: I love Subaru having red eyes in Sirius' presence +other attention to detail. Liliana looks great. Patrasche looked really good. Animation seems consistent enough. Edit: I'm nitpicky because last seasons were masterpieces, i wouldn't care otherwise.

shut up, the art is very good, i did find strange the bright, but i'm glad that they not did like opm, that since opm 2nd season profit quite well, they didn't give a shit about enhancing the quality of the anime

@@Olivia-f8l 1. I don't remember the novel saying garf's on fire when he transforms but sure. 2. This one's funny but they just about censored everything else just to make emilia like that 3. Reinhard was explained in the video. +Static animation style. Not asking for sakuga but when an object moves it shouldn't look motionless. 4. The cg visual effects like sirius flames and betty magic. Looks bad and you can't even argue it doesn't. 5. Idk who the sfx designer is but it didn't sound polished. I'll let this one go since we got very little. And I'm not talking about Suehiro's music i know he cooks every time.

I can understand the little singer goblins redesign but Capella's dont make that much sense. She is not a minor and she is literally archbishop of lust. But its nothing important tbh.

aint no way you said the designs were 'improved'. Everyone looks 10 years younger, character models melt, and are off model in motion. Faces are just off in most scenes, some scenes do look pretty good for some reason, but the others are clearly not ok.

@@siginotmylastname3969 s1 did not melt, the forest maebeasts had rem spinning mid air, yet it was animated brilliantly. This season will have more action, but i expect a minimum level of quality. And the new bubbly overly round art style is just so strange for one of the darkest arcs.

In motion character models are literally supposed to be a little off because that’s the price of fluidity. Also no, Crusch and Wilhelm and everyone else looked great while fighting. If you’re looking at some distant shot and comparing that to close ups, obviously they’ll be off model. S1 had that same thing because that’s how it works

@@AnimeSimp234 yes they do, you have a shinobu pfp and she acts like a child in certain situations, and not in others. many of them very much act like children, naive, innocent, and wear child-like clothes and accessories. its very purposefully done, and regardless of how you think of it, the basis for these characters are real little children. are you and others predatory for liking them? no, what about sexualizing them? personally, i still think no. but that doesn’t change the fact that its fucking creepy and both sides sling shit at one another without being reasonable about loli shit.

Literally when I saw the re-design for capella and liliana, I was so relieved... I seriously didn't want my eyes to be viewing microbikinis on 2 kinda major characters for a whole season. It would've been weird im sorry.
