Subaru’s sub voice is extraordinary. He sounds like he’s been tortured for a long time. Also the JP cast did a REALLY good job reading the script. Every dialogue felt realistic and felt like it mattered.

Even as a die-hard subbed watcher, I have no problem in watching Re Zero in English dub because Subaru's English voice actor has a very deep and attractive voice. He also portrays his pain and emotions perfectly. I thought that with all the screaming and shouting Subaru does in the anime, the dub would feel cringe. But boy I was wrong. Sean Chiplock does nail it all. And I hate to admit this as a subbed fan, Spoilers for season 2 ep 8, his screams in the rabbit death was the best death scream I've heard in Re Zero and sent a shiver down my spine. It disturbed me more than the Japanese version. I still prefer subbed while watching anime, but Re Zero is something I watch In both.

for me, the sub and dub are nearly synonymous, they sound so similar and both have extraordinary performances from their VA's, you could really watch either one and get the exact same experience, that experience being superb

Honestly, I loved Subaru’s English voice actor. There are certain parts I find more emotional than the Japanese version, but I will always prefer the sub. Great voice actors all around, they all did amazing. I can't wait for season 2.

Watched the sub first, I'm rewatching the series in dub and I gotta say, can't complain about it. It's one of the few dubs that are actually done extremely well. I liked Emilia's japanese voice because she sounds both cute but also motherly, the dub does the same but focuses more on the cute side I'd say which is a charm of it's own. Hm I gotta say I prefer the japanese one due to that actress having been in some roles I really liked, hella impressed with the english one tho. Subaru, love either one the same. Japanese one really makes him seem like a delinquent and the english one does his joking side well, (seriously the jokes where he has to change toneshifts don't sound stiff and work naturally.) Puck, I'd say I prefer the dub they got his boyish mischievous side well. As for Ram and whoever that blue haired one is, I'd gotta say I prefer the japanese because of how distinct and better matching for the personalities they are. The english are still great acting wise, and not to say the actors don't fit their characters cause they do. Overall, all the english cast are good actors, they sound natural and even the jokes work. And the characters all fit their character too.

I don't know about you guys, but usually whichever version I fall in love with first is the one I continue the series with. Rie Takahashi and Yusuke Kobayashi did such a stellar job for me with these characters, getting me helplessly invested in Subaru and Emilia's relationship with their top tier voice acting, so even if some will prefer the dub, I just cannot. Hopefully this isn't just me. First times are important IMO.

The American VA's did a killer job. But the animation in re:zero specifically is based around the incredible VA performances of its actors. Obviously most anime's base it on the performance of it's JP VAs. But Re:zero dedicates it more so than most series. So it's difficult to really compare and contrast their performances. For the american audience and/or the more interested in Dub individuals, you guys picked a great cast.

I personally prefer the dub over the sub. It’s more enjoyable for me to watch it in English. I think the voice actors did a really great job too, especially Subaru’s VA, Sean Chiplock. I was impressed by his performance throughout the anime. I can’t imagine this anime being considered one of those “trashy dubs” The English dub is pretty good if you ask me. Although, I gotta admit the Japanese version isn’t all that bad either, just not as great. If I had to choose though, I’d watch the English dub any day. Still hoping that we get a season 3 someday :)

I love the sub so much and is so good. But the dub is pretty good for a dub. Rem in dub does Dana from YS VIII and Trials of Cold Steel, Rin Catherine full body, a ton from Fire Emblem, Filo Shield Hero, Kanao Demon Slayer, Tuesday Carole and tuesday, so many lmao. Subaru’s subbed voice is impossible to top tho. The english va is good tho.

I’m a dub watcher, and recently started watching the sub. And holy shit, some of the voice actors are AWESOME in the sub. In fact, the reason I got into it in the first place was because I saw a scene from episode 15 where Rem’s voice was REALLY intense, and it legitimately gave me chills. In general, I feel like, with a few exceptions, the guys sound better in the dub to me while the girls sound better in the sub. Sadly I can never transition fully to sub because (1) I absorb information better from hearing it than reading it, so I have a hard time following along with subs, (2) reading the subtitles makes it hard (at least for me) to just enjoy the animation, and (3) Subaru’s voice actor sounds way better to me in the dub (not saying that sub Subaru didn’t a good job too-imo the quiet lines are better in the sub while the loud lines like screaming and shouting are done better in the dub).
