Thank you for this valuable tweak! It works great for my RE 320. For those who don’t want to remove the pin on your mic: I filed/rasped a groove (approx. 2x2 mm) into the ring of the Rode, using a small square file, so that the shaft of the RE slips in with the pin in place. Then I turned the mic in the shockmount, so that the pin prevents the mic from slipping off the shockmount. This makes me more comfortable knowing that I do not need to modify my mic and that it is securely fitted into the mount.

Cool video, I want to do something similar to use that shockmount with my Oktava 319, I do need to know if the "shaft" of the microphone will go through the shockmount's opening, though. Would you be so kind to please measure it for me? It would be really helpful.

in my experience, after pushing the pin inwards, my RE20 (bought on 2019) fits extremely snug. So much so that it holds the microphone upside down. Obviously im not going to use it like that but it worked for me, aslong as im careful with it. Thanks for the advice. I just don't have enough money attm to throw around for the Official RE20 Mount.

Appologies for the re-upload but it was brought to my attention that this PSM1 mod is not compatable with the RE27 N/D. It appears that the 27 has a slightly thicker width on the mic clip section compared to the re20 and 320 Due to the 27 being compatable with same included clip and shock mount as the re320 and 20. I assumed by looking at spec sheets the 27nd would also be compatable with this mod. A huge thanks to Justin for bringing this to my attention and I hope your idea of making the whole slighlty bigger with a dremel worked out for you. If not the offer still stands for a refund on the items you purchased :)

You cannot remove the pin on the RE20 (black), or at least I am having a big difficulty. Also if you are using a metal clamp just know that you need something bigger than 25mm for the microphone to fit in. I ended up returning it as it could not possibly fit.

If the pin does not want to pull out you can push it in. That’s why I pushed it in on my 20. This doesn’t effect the xlr connection at all and sits flush on the inside if that makes sense. It would be the exact same if you use the heil pr40 mount you either have to pull or push the pin to make it fit. Sorry the mod didn’t work out for you but as you can see In the video both the 320 and 20 fit fine and the clamps I use hold them into place

@@thefullsetup Okay, so I managed to push it in. I had to try a lot harder and ended up pressing it against a metal surface which did the job. I will now try to get another metal clamp and see if it fits.

Wow thank you! I don’t like how the EV mount looks.
