I've been spending a lot of time learning this stage, and even more time pestering poor dxm8975 to explain how the spawning on this stage works. Fortunately he has been patient with me and some of it is finally sinking in. I may not understand the stage as well as he does, but I did finally hit my 200k target that I set for myself around last year. Unfortunately, in this run I was just practicing how to get the spawning right and wasn't doing my best with the chests, and I ran out of ammo which meant I didn't have enough time to kill the last guy, wherever he was. Oh well, I'll try again soon.

*On a clipped note : The plaga guy at the end sprouted his plaga, hadn't it been for that he surely had 156 kills at the end(it was that plaga guy that was missing and he was supposed to spawn one more time at the end if I still remember how the spawing of the ganados on this stage works correctly after 1 year and 8 months since I played the game mode the last time :P)

Much like every other aspect of the game, RE4 has the best Mercenaries mode of the action-focused RE games, as it is the only one that doesn't incentivize you to play it in the most boring way possible (endlessly fishing for melee attacks).

Agreed, the strategies and routes are more varied in RE4 than they are in other Mercs modes.

@@Sarcosuchas It's true that in 5 melee is powerful, and especially so in 6. But those aren't the only ways to play, just the best for high scores. You could say, handicap yourself to only using a pistol or AR on 5 and 6 mercs, just to keep it interesting. :)

Waterworld simply doesn't faze you, huh? You have every move and position memorized and plotted out, and it reflects beautifully in the gameplay. Can't fault anything with this performance, so great work on 200k!

Basically, if you kill specific ganados in a certain order, you can glitch the spawning for extra enemies. This is vital if you want to spawn all 156 enemies, as killing the wrong guy will prevent that. This run is different from my other runs because I'm more conscious of who I need to kill and when.

Oops, I didn't comment on this video earlier, but excellent work in your run and congrats on going over 200k finally ! 😄👏👍 In this run you had the left handed archer run toward you before the last chest, so it's such a pity that you couldn't kill all the 156 enemies due to lack of time and ammo, it was a huge chance to pull it off actually. (the last guy you missed was the black hooded RL guy you are supposed to shoot down at kill #44 of the final combo, you needed to wait a bit more until his body totally disappears so as to respawn him, but there was no chance to do so and it was much better for you to go for 155 kills nonetheless taking all of them out in time) 1, In the first chest - good job, although it's a shame that you missed 2 ganados from the L-shaped building. If you are too close to inside of the cabin you get stunned by the grenade explosion you toss as the last grenade into the hut, the point is that you take one or two steps back before throwing the final grenade(if you go backwards too much the entrance door closes, so be careful of it) and as you toss it you quickturn swiftly and start running forward to shoot the final ganado. Also If you play the 41 kills chest you don't have to toss your 2nd to last grenade to the right to kill the bald stun baton ganado, if you want you have to toss that more quickly so that it explodes while you are still stunned by the explosion of the previous grenade and TNT you toss before that grenade, you never get stunned by that extra grenade to the right and you can save a few seconds for eliminating the rest of the ganados. Still, as I already saw in your 198k video you sent me personally you're certainly making progress in mastering that chest strategy - which makes it much easier to attain 204k as you mentioned in your other reply as your goal. :-) 2, in the final chest - Good job on your grenade toss downstairs again, like you already did in your 198k video, throwing your grenade through the opening between the handrails and pillars on the left side is what matters the most if you want to get around 30(or 31+) kills consistently. ;) 3, In the 2nd chest - Nicely done, though you almost got 33 kills in this chest. There's an easier way to obtain 35 kills in that chest I combined Ubercapitalist's idea to toss a grenade toward the west building with my principal ideas for alterations of the order to kill the ganados, so if you want to watch the video I can personally send you, so that it would make it easier for you to kill 35 enemies in the chest. ( - I saw you got 41 kills in the 1st chest and 30 kills in the 3rd chest in at least one of your WW runs. If you got 41 kills in the first chest and 30 kills in the final chest, once you get used to the strat to kill 35 guys in the chest and manage to spawn and kill all the 156 ganados, you can get 204500 at the maximum with the chest kills at 41-35-30(106 kills in total). ;) ) I know it's really daunting and exhausting to spawn all the ganados consistently without error and I can understand your feelings toward this level to that point that it makes me feel awkward to give you something useful to "urge" you to give the stage a go anew, but I'm looking forward to seeing more of your runs, if you really plan to strive for a better score. ^^ Anyways, again, brilliant work on your run and good luck for your next challenge whatever it may be(village with Krauser, or something else you have been planning confidentially in your mind). ☺😘

Thanks ^^ I think the 2nd grenade stunned me because I got hit by the hatchet, thus resetting my stun counter. Unfortunate. On a good day I can get an easy 34 on the 2nd chest, so pushing it to 35 or more shouldn't be too difficult once I get used to the spawning. Not to worry though, I'm going to keep trying until I hit 204k. Then I'm coming for my HUNK WR :) Thanks again for all your help and support with this map. ^^ Oh, random question; but would you happen to have any better understanding of Village's 1st chest (specifically the window Diego and the group that opens the metal door) or are you like everyone else I've spoken to and have no idea how that chest works either? lol

@@Sarcosuchas > Question ↑I played the stage loooong time ago so I don't remember exactly when the said Diego spawned, but the villagers in the chest box house spawned at kill 31(pitchfork guy) and 32(the guy inside the room in the back, the entrance door of which the TNT lady opens up at the end of the chest), so for consistent 36(or 37) kills you have to do away with other guys as fast as possible so as to kill the guy inside the room alongside the blue dynamite lady with your rifle (or TMP, if you're playing as Hunk). > WW ↑Yeah, the hatchet guy hit you to cancel the stun animation, that's why you got stunned there - if you got stunned by that axe you better not toss another grenade to the right all the more.

@@derinse772 Okay thanks. Don't know if it's a 60fps issue, but Diego sometimes doesn't jump out the window (I think he spawns around kill 24/25). So you can end up missing him with the grenades. The green woman sometimes is in the 2nd chest alley and other times is on the tower side of the house. And all this usually means the group with the TNT lady don't open the door until it's too late. The whole chest seems to be very inconsistent in that regard, as I've been discussing it with the likes of Gustavo and Luis

@@Sarcosuchas If the Diego isn't by the window before he jumps down and it happens too often on the 60fps version it can be a 60fps issue, but if it happens only sometimes, then I reckon it does happen sometimes on other versions as well, so I think you can be patient until the spawning goes in correct order, or if you can still see him from in front of the entrance door of the chest house you can snipe his head with your rifle, with that you can still take out the others in time during the chest all the same - if the TNT lady ain't too late for opening up the metal door in the back. (She spawns at kill around 20 or 21 from behind the chicken house, and her movement depends on where you were when you killed the 20th ganado(or 21st ganado, the lady with a knife in the north or the plaga guy from the alley in the south), and how you move from that position, so if the 60fps isn't too different the lady should show up in around the same moment as on other versions, though given that the loading is faster on the 60fps version than on other consoles she can sometimes behave in a slightly different manner compared to other versions of the game. And the green lady - yeah, sometimes she comes out from the alley in the center or from another alley on the right (tower side), and this is also connected to the position you were when she spawned, but compared to the TNT lady it's somewhat more difficult to guess which route she takes. :-p If you play with Derek's 36 kills chest she can die with a grenade explosion to the right side of the shotgun house, but sometimes she doesn't when she chose to come from the alley you run through at the start of the 2nd chest - which can set you in trouble as she's also the plaga ganado.
