Thanks for the time and effort to post these great videos. So far I feel that you are only just half way for providing a whole series tutorial for teh EmlidReach. Next stage would be how to use RTKLIB with EmlidReach for both live view and post processing. Next would be how to use it for an in the field workflow in a survey scenario how to fix ground control points etc. This is where the real work is needed to make a lot easier with some good tutorials.

My pleasure. I haven't gotten to the next video yet but hope to do that soon. This is a learning process for me so it's taking longer than other videos just because the process is so involved. I'll share what i find and and thanks for following along.

Thank you for your videos. Hoping to set up my two Reach RS units as base and rover using ur videos. I have never done any type of survey work or worked with this type of equipment so this has been learning experience from the ground up. Can you explain one thing for me, if I go to any property where there are no known points, I am having a hard time understanding how the workflow process will work and how to set up the reach units for PPK processing in that situation. If you had time to do a video on that I would sure be thankful. My plan is to put the reach unit like you have on my Phantom 4. But right now I'm just trying to completely and fully understand the rtk and PPK workflow and process.

timmyd, you're welcome and I hope to do a PPK tutorial soon. I'm trying to finish up this tailsitter configuration. In the meantime this may help: www.tuffwing.com/support/Reach_precision_gps_ppk_setup.html Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Hi Dennis ! Great work ! i'm excited to know more about the Reach RTK. well now i know how the things work without wifi connection. and my next question is. if we use Reach on Pixhawk, will it need 2 telemetrys ? 1 for the pixhawk communication and 1 for the reach communication ? or there is another way to use the Reach on Pixhawk ? Thanks Dennis ! waiting for your next video about Reach !
@dennisbaldwin8 жыл бұрын
There is something known as GPS injection that will allow this to happen with one radio on the rover. I will share more info on that soon. Thanks for the question.

I have Phantom 4 and I want to do mapping with Map Pilot for DJI app and Pix4D software. Is it possible to EMLID Reach RTK system to get accurate position? Can we use REACH rover on Phantom 4 and geotag the images? If not, can we use EMLID Reach RTK system to measure accurate Ground Control Points (GCPs)? How accurate could it be for GCPs from the REACH system? How much is for the system? Thanks
@dennisbaldwin7 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how to do this. I'll have to look into this some more. You could maybe log all the data and then somehow post-process. I'll do some research and share any findings. Please do the same if you learn more.

@flyinlo14747 жыл бұрын
I just ordered a setup a guy in Austrailia that will log the reach data each time the P4 or I camera is fired. I will then go back and update the P4 exif data with Reach info for accurate PPK pictures. I am still learning all this stuff so once it gets here and I get it figured out I will post back how well it works.

Hey Dennis, what are you using to power your base? I have a similar setup but want to be able to both plug it into a USB battery pack and also into a wall outlet like you are.

Thank you for uploading this video. I think i don't have to take gcps for 3d mapping. what will be the range of this setup. Do i get 2km range with this setup.
@dennisbaldwin8 жыл бұрын
The range should be limited to the range of the radios. I will do some tests after I get everything working. Thanks for the comment.
@sriram1993mk8 жыл бұрын
does accuracy varies with the range? I have read that Reach give 0.5cm accuracy for 10meter range. can it give same accuracy for 2Km ?

What were you plugging in outside to the electrical cord? how do it communicate with mission planner? what is Reach?
@dennisbaldwin8 жыл бұрын
Good question. Sorry it wasn't apparent in the video. It was an adapter for the 5V micro USB cable. It allows me to power the reach from a wall outlet. I will share the Mission Planner piece in the next video. Reach is this product: emlid.com/reach/
@scottallen61338 жыл бұрын
Dennis Baldwin thanks for the reply. So this unit will increase the range of the telemetry 3dr radio?
@JuanCarlosMH8 жыл бұрын
It will increase the precision of the gps auto-pilot to centimeters in x, y z
@torecrash64937 жыл бұрын
3DR is basically a radio sending signals from A to B Emlid Reach is a device that get you cm accuracy on your device. And your device beeing drone, plane, heli etc.
@neotock8 жыл бұрын
I'm a bit confused. At the moment I'm using RFD900+ which works on 915mhz for the Pixhawk communicate with ground control. In this setup I will need another pair to connect between the base and the rover ? Will it be a problem ?
@dennisbaldwin8 жыл бұрын
I'm going to cover this is a video soon, but in the meantime you can checkout the GPS inject feature discussed here: docs.emlid.com/reach/apm-integration/ This should allow you to send RTK without an extra set of radios.

will this guarantee 0% of gps glitch? 0% of flyaway?indoor stable flight? nice video as always !!
@dennisbaldwin8 жыл бұрын
It will definitely provide redundancy as Reach is recommended as a 2nd GPS in the system. I can't say it will be 0% glitch-proof, but I'd have to think it will improve results drastically. I don't think it will help with any indoor stable flight at all. But that will be a good test for the future. Great questions and thanks for following along.

does this system achieve a sub-centimeter accuracy in RTK mode? how far does the rover go until it stops receiving the correction from the base?
@dennisbaldwin7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jun, I recommend looking through the emlid discussion group: community.emlid.com/t/accuracy-of-reach/5436/7 I will do some tests in the future and share them, but as of now I don't have any good data to share.

@benjaminmathon74178 жыл бұрын
I still don't get the usefulness of the RTK, if I need a very accurate orthophoto, I just call a geomatics engineer to geocode some ground target. Maybe for huge surfaces. Anyway, thanks for the video ;)
@tomp.77968 жыл бұрын
1. accurate positioning of the aircraft sub decimeter level 2. reduction/elimination of gcp with precise geotagging for surveying note we are talking relative accuracy to the base station not absolute. rtklib is still buggy and emlid needs to improve and tune the solution further till a proper fix and hold can be achieved within 10 min. drotek has also a viable option. with the same hardware.
