So, what are the downsights here? The missing pieces? Can somebody explain? Also, if it's just better than the react native prior 0.60 in every single way, why this wasn't the decision taken earlier ?

I'd guess... the compile time mainly. I'll likely update this if I find something else. Going to watch this a few times

Downside is that Hermes still has some bugs... (from my own experience, but you can look at their GitHub issues : github.com/facebook/hermes/issues)
