@MyGaming Den I definitely don't think aespa's concept is original nor the first to be done in the scope of the whole human history, but in the industry of K-pop and its target audience, they still took quite a risk. Keep in mind K/DA was developed by a gaming company with video gamers as their primary audience, and using characters that were already well-established in their game. So I think it was actually way less risky for Riot than SM. Not to mention the amount of money SM, a Kpop company, had to invest into this digital(CG) world. That to me = ambitious. They're aiming into another dimension from K-pop. K/DA doesn't really do that for LoL.

@MyGaming Den I used to play LoL, so I think I'm aware of its influence. What works in one industry is definitely not guaranteed to work in another, because the demographics of the audience is different. I would still say the majority of people in the world are not super into anime/video games (even in the country of Japan, where it originated), so the average K-pop listener is going to be less used to the idea of a virtual singer than someone who plays with virtual characters all day. Like even the K-pop music industry differs vastly from the Western music industry. The audience is different, and marketing is different. People don't go to Western artists' concerts with lightsticks. Most people don't collect merch or albums of their fav Western artists either. It's a different culture. LoL and Kpop are both popular in Korea, but they are different industries with different cultures. Also, SM has "failed" many times in the past.

Blackpink and aespa is from different gen.. so in my opinion, I think it's not fair if we choose one of them because blackpink is more senior than aespa.. and they have different concept.. aespa have avatar for each member and also have a story line.. so as a multifandom, I choose both 😆
