EROS might seem unexciting to those with a trained nose in the perfume community, leading us to seek alternatives - and I’m one of them. However, we can’t ignore the fact that EROS consistently receives compliments and remains an excellent fragrance for its primary purpose: to smell good. We should distinguish between perfume experts and the reality that many fragrances we find dull are still highly appealing to the general public.
@GrowingDownUnder3 ай бұрын
I always thought eros was an exciting fragrance even to this day after trying thousands of perfumes eros is up there with the best. Takes me through a journey everytime and when I take a break from it then come back it's just as good as I remember. The dry down is magical and the opening not as great but I do like that minty fresh opening with the very smooth vanilla dry down. I haven't even really come across any vanilla scents like this since eros, something about that vanilla they use is so unique and definitely exciting to me because i've tried maybe 100 vanilla fragrances and a lot smell the same but eros actually is very different vanilla they use
@GrowingDownUnder3 ай бұрын
There is something called fragrance curse, the more perfume you smell the more you start to like bad fragrances. You acquire a taste for certain unappealing smells which to a complete newbie would smell gross. Oud, iris, alcohols, spices, leather, etc... these types of things. It's hard to trust "experts" on fragrances because in a way their taste in fragrance actually will be quite bad...if you wanna know what smells good never ask an expert always ask the people who know absolutely nothing about fragrances who smell every ingredient for the 1st time. Then you get the most genuine first impression reaction as most people in public would get too.

Im like 80 percent sure that if Parfums de Marly did not give free bottles to influencers, they would not be nearly as popular as they are now
@vlxxrd48663 ай бұрын
Influencers have very little influence on average consumers. PDM Layton is popular amongst the community, but Percival is substantially more popular amongst consumers. It sells way more than Layton. Also, every popular niche house gives bottles to reviewers. PDM, Xerjoff, Creed, etc. They all give bottles to influencers.

@vlxxrd4866 eh, I don't know about influencers having little influence on average consumers, I mean, the top 10 panty dropper lists have stellar views most of the time

PdM is niche house with perhaps the most mass pleasing fragrances. Percival and Layton are like popular designer fragrances, done better and stronger. Whereas other niche houses invest in weird, expensive scents like oud etc or they go unisex which is a bit of a risk. I do think PdM fragrances are overpriced but scent-wise they are very very pleasing to the masses. Check street battles if you want, they do better than most niche brands.
@VilleIvar3 ай бұрын
@isaiahhd5760 you are correct. Check out a recent video from Redolessence called "PARFUMS DE MARLY: The Fastest Growing Niche Brand in the Perfume Industry! | BUT HOW?". Interview witjh PDMs marketing VP. The guy says it himself. That is not to say that their products are not good, because they are awesome. It is just smart marketing. But yeah, as a consumer it is good to be aware of this. I can´t stand someone like Demi Rawling because she is so obviously in bed with all these brands and whoever made a good deal with her this week is always "the sexiest ever let me tell you guys" and then does the fake turned on face. What I like and respect about Omar is that there is none of that in this channel. The moment Omar starts doing fake turned on faces I´m unsubscribing. :D
@DavidB-py8nz3 ай бұрын
@@vlxxrd4866 Average consumers don't buy PDM and wont spend hours watching reviews from fragrance influencers/reviewers. The people who buy niche look at reviews online before spending serious money on fragrances, you'd have to be very stupid not to. That's why these houses send out free bottles or pay these influencers in return for good reviews.

I work in a place where it's about 85% women..... That's pretty much the only place I go other than home now days but I'll comment on the ones I've got. 1) Dylan Blue... to be fair I wore this yesterday and I got two compliments. One was to prove a point (she told me I didn't smell manly enough the day before for wearing Jazz Club... she loves DB a lot. She's Italian so she likes Italian anything!) and one of them was from someone I'm very close to who said "I love most of the ones you wear but that's one of my favourites" 2) Versace Eros.... another one I get sniffed for. Same two chicks from the first example love it on me.... but I get more sniffs from other chicks as well. 3) BDC - Owned a bottle of the EDT years ago. Wasn't overly impressed with the performance to price and never really got much in the way of compliments either. I've since replaced it with Missoni Pour Homme and I get more bang for my buck ( ;) ) with that one. I'll stick with that over BDC to be perfectly honest! 4) SWY Intensely... Wore this last week and "very close" chick was like "I love that one, which is it.... Spicebomb? Oh, Armani! I love this one on you! Smells so good!" not to mention the other sniffs from a couple other chicks. 5) D&G The One.... It's the EDT.... I don't get much off of this one by way of compliments honestly. Smells damn amazing and a couple chicks say something nice once in a while if they get close enough but it doesn't blow minds. 6) Milestone.... That's what I've got. Never blew any minds with that one. Warm weather, cold weather. Meh. "Yeah, it's nice." is the best I ever got!

Truth, was always my biggest compliment getter too until I got YSL Myslf so luckily I have another fragrance I can rotate with dylan blue. I bought Dylan Blue this summer after years of watching reviews and i got a compliment the first day from a female friend. First i could almost not smell it and i was like...what is the hype about but now i understand what the female nose find attractive on a man. Fresh and a bit spicy is masculine to a woman. After watching many street battles Dylan Blue seem to be a winning concept and even beat Bleu De Chanel. Synthetic, generic, cheap. People can call it that they like but i´ll stick to it haha

I feel like this list was made for inexperienced people trying to smell good to other inexperienced people, which are the majority of people. I own 3 of these 10 she recommended, so I think she gave solid advice. I was hoping to learn something and was a bit disappointed at first. I must say that some of these fragrances are very redundant though: - Dylan Blue vs. Bleu de Chanel - Eros vs. Le Male Elixir vs. Layton
