When the jokes in the trailer are cringe, the movie's not going to be funny. You put your most eye-catching, interesting moments in the trailer, chosen to set the tone of the film. If you fill the trailer with jokes, you're telling us it's a comedy. If the jokes are _bad_ jokes, you're telling us it's a _bad_ comedy. (Though I thought "No ship, Sherlock" was a _little_ amusing.)

Toon4Thought This because they DELIBERATELY choose the bad material, so their best humour isn’t waisted. It’s why so many jokes in trailers are edited together into a worse joke. That way, their best material surprises you. It’s a common practice when editing comedy related trailers.

I saw the test footage for Wreck-It Ralph 2 at D23 2017. It was not bad. Vanellope sneaks in the Princess' Green Room, and they just bounce jokes at each other. It was honestly hilarious. Merida went full heavy Gaelic (and no one understood what she said) and one of them commented that she was from that other studio. Ariel nearly bursts into full song till someone interrupts her. Snow White acts like a scared old grandmother (the movie being 80 years old) and pulls out coke-bottle glasses. I was laughing way too hard. The princesses were making fun of themselves without being self aware about it.

Yeah, the thing that bugs me about Illumination's art style is that wierd "baby-face with tiny eyes" look most of its characters have. It looks fine on some characters like the Despicable Me family, but other than that, I'd rather just stare at an aisle full of Cabbage Patch Kids for an hour. 😖

Im not a fan & not really a comic book person but has literary NOBODY ELSE seen the Justice League Animated?! When I went to see Coco in theaters most of the early trailers that you mentioned were shown and I couldn't stop shrinking in my seat since I was the one trying to convince my family (it was after Thanksgiving so we werr visiting out of state) to drag us out to a Regal theater. Only the children were laughing and babies were crying but then Incredibles 2 was the last trailer shown and everyone cheered.

I'm new to your channel and I love animation. As a kid and even more as an adult because I can appreciate the effort that goes into it. I feel many film critics while good at reviewing live action pieces are ill equipped at judging many animated features. Equated them to kids stuff instead of the full grown story telling medium. I've been watching your reviews and its refreshing to hear criticisms that aren't looking down at animation or giving bad animation a pass because its just there to occupy kids while mom and dad take a break, so who cares? I'm honestly raising an eyebrow with "Wreck-it Ralph 2". The reason the first movie was so good (at least for me) was because it was basically the "Toy Story" of video games. It was full familiar faces and references. I still go back just to find any references I missed. Don't get me wrong, It certain helped that the movie had an interesting set characters and good plot. I feel "Wreck-it Ralph 2" will have plenty of the ladder. The fact that the modern-day internet is the setting makes dread possible jokes they might make. I really don't feel it'll sink to the level of "The Emoji Movie" or "PPG (2016)". The jokes worked in so well in "Ralph 1" because they were well timed, mashed perfectly into the universe, and video game references are timeless, because video games are timeless. They're something anyone can go back to at anytime and still find enjoyment and this helps keep said references fresh in our heads. These are jokes that get better with age. Internet humor (especially modern day) is entirely fad-based. It boils down to >We make a joke. >It's funny for like 3 months. >After the fact, we only make it to annoy people. >And after another month, no one can even say the joke without cringing. I'd love to be proven wrong on this, it's just that "Ralph 2's" promotional art resembles a cell phone app. This gave me some "Emoji Movie" PTSD. Still, I'll wait till the movie actually comes out give an honest, fact-based opinion on it.

I'm looking forward to most animated movies of 2018 (especially Incredibles 2, Isles of Dogs, and Ralph Breaks the Internet). Some that I'm even cautiously optimistic for (like Hotel Transylvania 3, The Grinch, Spider-Man Into the Spiderverse ). Though there are a few that I actually have some doubts over though (Peter Rabbit, Sherlock Gnomes, and *especially* the TTG Movie).

Mary and The Witch's Flower-Looks really good! Of course coming from the people in Studio Ghibli is no surprise. Sadly I don't think it will be released in cinemas here in Puerto Rico. :( Peter Rabbit- Uh... Yeah, no. My expectations are low on this one. Early Man- It actually looks pretty charming and decent. Sherlock Gnomes- *Sigh* If the Nut Job can get an unwanted sequel, I guess anything's possible. But yeah, definitely skipping! Isle Of Dogs-Hell yeah, this looks absolutely fantastic! Probably won't grab a lot of children's interests, but for older audiences, I'm absolutely hyped! Sgt. Stubby-Looks cute enough with the right intentions. Might not see it, but it looks decent and it's heart seems in the right place. Duck Duck Goose- Pass! Incredibles 2-FINALLY!!! Can't wait to see this! Teen Titans GO: To The Movies- Pass, again. It looks like something that should have just been a Direct-To-DVD release. Hotel Transylvania 3- Eh, looks alright I suppose. Probably might be the weakest in the HT trilogy. Smallfoot-Looks cute and harmless enough for kids, but for me personally, not enough to hold my interest. The Grinch-Aw hell no, I am done with Illumination films. I am avoiding this one at all costs. Ralph Breaks The Internet-Should be a pretty good follow-up, let's wait and see. Spider Man-Holy shit this looks super cool! Totally seeing it around the holidays!

This was an awesome video! I can't wait for some of these new movies and I really can't wait for your reaction on them cause I honestly believe the movie line up this year looks pretty soild for the most part. Oh and if you want a Dc movie that looks a bit more interesting than Teen Titans Go I recommend looking into Batman Ninja, it honestly looks amazing and the music is pretty awesome.

I completely agree with the Grinch thing! People need to stop massacring my favorite Christmas Special!!! Though I’m going to be completely honest, I’ve never seen Wreck it Ralph! I’m a huge Disney fan and I’ve never seen Wreck it Ralph. I have no idea why either, I just never really had any interest in seeing it. I know of a bunch of stuff that happens in it, but I’ve never seen the actual movie. I am SUPER excited for Incredibles 2 though!

Honestly if the ttg movie looks bad, I'm going the James Rolfe way; not watching it unless you really REALLY REALLY REALLY want to give it a chance. Otherwise, its like the emoji movie and ghostbusters all over again, where people watched it just to complain how much it sucked, so much so that they made a joke out of it in a half in the bag episode of Annabelle:creation. but at least it isn't selling a hundred products at once, but rather a few. Given ttg's audience and reputation, it will most likely be a box office success regardless if they enjoyed it or not, like the emoji movie and ghostbusters(foreign, not US). Personally, It looks more like a TV movie rather than theatrical, and the jokes are mixed, to say the least. But I could be horribly wrong, and I would be ecstatic if it came out a good product, since there were some good things that came from the show. Otherwise, I don't see it being a critical hit. You don't have to agree with me, but at least understand my position regarding the ttg thing. Maybe I got some things wrong, but that is my evaluation of this whole situation as of now

10:15 This image still makes me legitimately angry. Even the live-action film understood that you're not supposed to make the Grinch "cute" as a child. Not only is this Grinch designed to look like an Emoji complete with big head and tiny body, but he was clearly designed for the exclusive purpose of selling plushies (I'm also gonna bet on pillows shaped like this Grinch's head and the scarf). Yet the most offensive thing about this image are the eyes and even the adult version of this Grinch has white eyes w/ calm green pupils. The Grinch is supposed to have yellow eyes w/ red pupils so when he has a change of heart and realizes the true meaning of Christmas his eyes change to white w/ blue pupils. Once again Illumination has defiled Dr. Seuss' work w/ their product-whoring versions of beloved characters and completely missed the point of the story.

Isle of Dogs just came out to my theater today, and of course I went to watch it and my god.. Already my favorite movie of all time. I highly recommend it. It's just that good and unique. The humor was actually funny and never cringe worthy.
