At the end of the day, I just feel like no one knows how to type they hair fr fr. Some of us got multiple things going on in our head. I feel though, that the fact that we are wearing our hair in its natural state, and continuing to express our black identity in this way, is a win for me. But fr fr if you know your hair looks more on the 3c/4a/4b side, post it under that and stop tryna chase the 4c clout. Let’s embrace the diversity that comes with being black.

This is one of the best most positive comments regarding the hair typing system. So many girls just want to bash it versus allowing for it to help us see how diverse we really are. Because without it how would be be able to vocalize that more 4c girls need more proper representation in media..?!?! If we abolish it, we wouldn’t be able to actually articulate ourselves within a deeper conversation surrounding hair. Lol we think we are confused now, I think more of us would be perming our hair still if we didn’t have the assistance of the hair typing system.

The issue with the first video was her daughter, who is BIRACIAL, combing her mom's 4c hair. Yes, black women who attack their hair in their vids or black women who do take down vids (braids) and haven't washed their hair (on purpose) and saying how "Gross" their hair is. They even put "Gross" in the title. It's terrible. I don't watch those vids as they send a negative message about our hair.

Combing 4c hair completely dry is mad RUDE. Disrespectful to your hair and self tbh. Stop upholding standards of straight or loose hair on coily hair like running a comb through it dry as though no one else gets tangles too. There’s brushes and combs designed for our hair. Products and ingredients that hydrate and give slip.

Because the one in the salon never showed her finished product I can’t say for sure she’s not . With product or conditioner still in the hair it’s deceiving because yes some with a high density of 4c might dred with product still if she’s medium to medium-low even with 4c she’ll have have more initial definition with wet product still in her hair .... IMO My biggest takeaway was the girl who did a closeup on her her to show the stretch of the curls/ hair. I loved that she wrote that it was beautiful. Definitely a message that needs to be out their more . The shrinkage and process of care of our hair is beautiful, natural and normal. Other ethnicities have processes and struggles to their hair unfortunately for us ours has just been publicize for such a long time in such a negative fashion. However there if the history was more exposed for other ethnicities we learn how they’ve had to use implements to straighten,, to color, to Thinning , dealing with dryness and live wearing wigs from the renaissance and even prior in European and Asian countries.... beauty hasn’t been easy for women in general

Hey y’all, just wanted to clarify to make sure we’re all on the same page. In this comment I’m not saying you can’t be “light skin”and have 4c hair or a kinkier hair type. The comment is to assert that mistyping your curl pattern in this day in age, JUST for the purpose of tik tok, as a way to fit in with a current “popular opinion”; is like if lighter complexion individuals changed their identification from identifying as light skin, to identifying as dark skin; just because it is a “popular opinion/trend/acknowledgement”. I’m speaking on behalf of the necessity for black people to BODLY identify themselves in all of the DIVERSE glory we come in. Not just when someone “tells” us it’s okay. Hope that makes sense.
