This came out freshman year in college and we worn this cd out. One of the best alt bands of the late 80’s early 90’s.

Finally! Someone appreciating The Sundays. Not a lot of reactions on their music. Thanks for the upload, your smiles when listening to Here’s how the story ends. If you like her voice, I am sure you will really enjoy “Summertime” and “Wild Horses”.

I think you can categorize Harriet’s voice as angelic. They are only a few like this.

Harriet Wheeler's voice has a dreamy quality to it, with not a trace of anger in it- so when she sings about loss or sadness, it seems to convey a sort of acceptance. Not a defeated giving up, but a kind of reflectiveness, maybe even wisdom. At least that's what I get out of it.

I saw them three times in one summer. Boston, NY and New Haven. Maybe summer of 92? Time flies, kids. Enjoy it! Still waiting for their comeback. Every few years there are rumblings they are recording and rehearsing. I hope they do, but if they don’t, their mystique will only grow.

May I recommend "All About Eve"...folk indie band from the 80's 90's. Beautiful voice of Julianne Regan and great guitar sounds. Was lucky enough to see live as well as The Sundays...Saw many bands live back in those days. Lost my fav Sundays t-shirt on a return flight from Greece. I used it as a head rest for my late partner and forgot to pick it up on leaving the aircraft. I phoned the airline and airport etc in an attempt to get it back but it wasn't handed in. Not surprising who ever picked it up kept it.
@SummerMcGaha2 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry you lost your shirt. I once accidentally damaged a sweater after falling in skates that was special to me. It left a hole in it.

For "Goodbye" my interpretation as a sophomore, was that she has decided that her friends, her ways of relating were going to change, goodbye to the old days - so as to improve herself- and she forgives herself - she says we're all the same - we talk about how others are, then we see smack in the mirror what we said about others or looked down at others for - shallowness - but its cool - we all needed to grow up - like in Here's Where the Story ends - she didn't iknow that her silence in life as astudent whcih was rebelious, ends in well I don't know everything anyway - but we expect adults to do just that know everthing - a solid aim, but I'll tell you that's not the way it is - decades later

We are you thinking of suicide all the time?

Interestingly, most of the lyrics won't make sense and is due to their writing style. I've heard Gavin would write a line down, and Harriet would later come and independently write the next line. Nonsensical, yet works wonderfully.

I'm surprised that the new generation are listening to The Sundays. A band that I listened on the radio waking up in the mornings getting ready school in 1997
@SummerMcGaha3 жыл бұрын
That's really cool. I grew up in the 90's but there's a lot I didn't hear on the radio, that I wish I had. Some styles and bands were more popular in some parts of the world than in others. Luckily, the internet provides a way to connect with the world through music from all over time and all over the world.
