One of the greatest things about the Mass is participating not only in the music but the prayers and responses, confessing, belief etc.. including reverence of standing and kneeling.

Catholic Mass is beautiful. The reverence to God is amazing!!! The kneeling as most Catholics know is to show love/respect for Christ in the Eucharist as we believe it is the Body and Blood of Christ. There definitely is no monotony. I would actually want to hear more Gregorian chants during Mass but I’m old school. Orthodox Mass is also very impressive and highly reverent!! Long live the Apostolic Churches!!!

This was awesome. Your insights as a new Catholic really help shine a good light on how we worship. This guy in the video is hilarious! Going to be praying for you and him.

I am a "come as you are" guy. Jeans, sneakers and sweatshirt. The last 2 weeks Mass was quite a bit longer than usual as there were 5 Baptisms one week and 1 the next. Father Ray does Baptisms during Mass. I know it's been about 10 years since some of the prayers were revamped but I still mess up, especially the Gloria and the Nicene Creed. Two of my sisters have moved to a different Christian denomination and they revert to the "old" responses.

If you are coming to a Catholic Mass for the first time you should do some "warm ups" before hand! I am a cradle Catholic, 79 years old. I can't kneel very well because of my health so I will sit as some others do. But that is okay. I have lived through the changes in the Liturgy going from Latin to English. At first I didn't like it. I thought praying in Latin was more beautiful than English, but the laity is fully participating in the Mass now, unlike before when we were more of a spectator watching the priest and altar boys doing everything. Over the past few years I have learned more about the mass and what is really going on, especially the things we don't see such as our guardian angel beside us, the angels going up to heaven and coming down, the priest morphing into Jesus at the Consecration. At Mass we get both word and Eucharist, something most Protestants don't. They get a lot of preaching and teaching and occasionally they will have Eucharist. Though for many that is only a symbol, not the real deal. One thing I don't like is that some people don't dress appropriately for Mass.

His experiences reminded me of my childhood when my Evangelical Lutheran friends accompanied me to Holy Mass. Only when I told them that our Padre (Franciscan parish) gives light hand signals that they can pay attention to, did their routines become synchronized ;) Apart from that, they didn't find Holy Mass as boring as the Protestant service. And at every confirmation ceremony or wedding,of my lutherian friends the Lutherans and other guests around us looked at us Catholics in confusion because we knew the Lord's Prayer and the Apostles' Creed (with the changed word: "catholic" instead of "general" of the Lutherans) by heart, while everyone else looked at the accompanying note.

Most Sunday masses are done 45-50 min depending upon how long the homily is and how many go to Communion. During the week, a 7am is 30 min as most parishioners need to get to work, although retirees can stay longer and will say the rosary after Mass. Many say the rosary before Mass, especially on a Saturday.

He should go to a Catholic Byzantine divine liturgy. Stand all the way through, pure a capella. Wine and bread combined. Great rite.

When I attended the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, I was very impressed with it. There was no set time that it needed to be over. The people were there for God and the Worship Service took as long as was necessary...weather short or long. The time was not a factor, and that impressed me. When I attended the modernist mass at the Catholic church, the old priest could say the principal mass in twenty minutes and many people came late and left early. It was evident to me that no one there really believed in God.

I think he may have gone to a black Catholic church particularly regarding the fancy dress and the longer mass times. Definitely not what I have seen in most parishes where I live except for black parishes and traditional parishes.

At the Latin Mass, usually low mass, I am content to kneel down and pray the rosary. Simple.

I loved his video, Ive seen it before! I disagree about the length of a Mass cause ours is usually 45 minutes....unless its a holiday or special Mass. I wonder what he attended lol Love how respectful he is about having attended a Mass ❤ Keep the videos comin Bryan! ❤ to you and your family!

I agree, our mass is usually 45-50 minutes. Except for the Easter vigil which is about an hour and a half or so. Weekday mass is really fast.

Catholics need to remember that during the Eucharist, you STAY kneeling until our Lord is back in the Tabernacle. Most masses are 1 hour long depending on how many attend. Eastern Rite are 1hr-2hrs long especially if there is a baptismal happening 😂

When I was a protestant we had adult Sunday school (admittedly optional) before the actual worship service so our services were far longer than mass is. Also true re sermons in protestant churches - usually longer than Catholic homilies.

Am disabled. I do the Catholic calisthenics as best as I can. I do have to put butt to pew when I'm kneeling sometimes, but I do what I can. 🤷🏿♀️ God knows my limitations. As far as dressing is concerned, I dress like I'm coming to see Jesus (because I am). I see people in jeans, shorts and other attire. I don't judge because I don't know their story, but for me, dressing for church is mandatory. Catholic church isn't as long as, say, a Baptist church service is. Unless it's the Easter Vigil. Those could give a Pentecostal service a run for its money. 😅 Otherwise, it's a little over an hour, max.

On priests singing. The best singing priests are here: Latin America, Italy 🇮🇹, Philippines 🇵🇭. Do not challenge a Filipino priest on karaoke 🎤 L 🤣L On Catholic fitness. Those who played baseball ⚾️ might end up as all-star 🌟 or Hall of Fame catchers. Examples. Late Yogi Berra, Ivan Rodriguez.

Like my late mom used to say, dressing up modestly is for the Lord. If you can't even do it for the Lord, who else will you do it for?

It's not one hour or half an hour etc.... MASS WILL TAKE AS LONG AS IT HAS TO PROVIDE ALL THE RUBICS ARE MET.... THERE'S NO SET TIME... HOWEVER ON AVERAGE IT TAKES ABOUT AN HOUR.... DEPENDS ON THE COMMUNION LINE, THE HOMILY ETC.

Man doesn't change the bread and wine into the body and blood of Jesus..... God does.... That is why the priest prays to God to consecrate it into the body and blood as directed to by Jesus in the Bible. Only the priest has the authority to do that prayer as his hands are consecrated for that very purpose. The Mass is according to the Bible. Everything in the mass is from the Bible. The readings, the procedure etc.... From the time of Jesus the Mass stayed the same with some minor changes..... Do some research on the Holy mass... You will be astounded. The standing and kneeling at different times during the mass is to show respect and adoration.
@robertgillis62455 ай бұрын
Most Catholic Holy Masses are 40 minutes average. Some Protestant services might be 2-3 hours because of their fanatical.
