I can't believe you've been able to read so many of the books that you've hauled! That's a huge accomplishment, I can't wait to hear what you thought of these books once you get a chance to read them

Really enjoyed watching this video with my morning cup of tea. Very interested to hear your thoughts on Heartsnatcher. It sounds like a very interesting concept. Looking forward to the reading vlog where you read the books on your TBR the longest ☺

I’ve always loved the idea that every cell in your body has supposedly regenerated itself every 7 years (not sure if this is factual) but sounds like a fitting idea for your 7 year KZbin anniversary.. you are still improving and growing every year and I love your content and your very deep knowledge of the books, fairy tales, disability, and the book world in general. Congrats on 7 years 🍾 🎉

Herman Hesse's Steppenwolf is one of my favourite books of all time! I wouldn't say it is bizarre at all but it is brilliant

Honestly, all those unread books sound great! I hope you'll have a good time going through them in your upcoming vlog. And thanks for reminding me of Iain Pears. I used to read his novels a lot, in my early twenties, and then suddenly I stopped, no idea why. Now might be the time to pick one up again!

“War and Peace” and “A Suitable Boy” have been on my TBR for 15 years! 😄

The Instance of the Fingerpost may be a long book but it's an easy to read page-turner so I don't think you need to worry about it taking up too much of your time. I read it a few years ago and I really enjoyed it. It made me want to read more of Ian Pears' books, so I bought Arcadia but I haven't managed to read that yet!

this got me so curious about my tbr (which I certainly don't tend to as lovingly as you do), I went straight to goodreads to look at my oldest addition to said tbr and it was Keith Richard's autobiography 'Life'. It's been sitting there since 2015 and it's a big boi, uh oh :D

I really loved Steppenwolf (although I think I remember it being difficult to read because there weren’t really any chapters or page breaks)! It’s been several years so I’d like to revisit it but parts of it have really stuck with me.

For a second I was so confused when you mentioned Sasa Stanisic and "women in translation" in one sentence😁 "Before the feast" was actually the last book I bought before the pandemic hit. I remember it so vividly, we had a family reunion, went to an art exhibition and of course I snuck off to a bookshop... shortly after we went into lockdown but even with a lot of free time to fill I couldn't bring myself to read that book. It reminds me of the "before" and makes me weirdly emotional.

Your Stats are way better than mine! Although 2015-2016 would have not been a really high book reading year for me. I didn't really get back into reading a lot until 2018. When I think I discovered your channel and bought your book of short stories.
@londongael3 жыл бұрын
Seriously impressed. I guessed you would have hauled about 100 books, and read 70-80% of them. I should have realised! Question: do you regularly prune your book collection? What makes a book a "keeper"? Do you have any you've had from childhood? Bookish love!

I’m so sad that the release of your new book has been delayed in the US. I preordered on July 5th but told it won’t ship until November 22nd. I plan to read this to my 6 year old grandson. I know he’ll love it.

I’m sorry about that; it’s due to a paper shortage and lots of books are in the same position. Hopefully it’s worth the wait! x

Marlon James' a brief history of seven killings is the oldest book on my shelf, purely because of its length! Intimidating!

I never would have guessed 14. My lucky number is 21 so that was my guess. Also I have already pre-ordered your book from Chapters Indigo as I am in Canada. Unfortunately it does not release this week here I think the release date was pushed back of it until November. I should have ordered through Book Depository. However their shipping time here is about the same so either way I'll get it around the same time. Are you going to be doing any events for your book? Where can we get that information? Also I would be interested in getting a signed bookplate if that's something that you do. Please do let me know.
@jenvcampbell3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sara, I sell signed books through my website. I may add an option for just the plates, but that's not available right now. You're welcome to email me if you'd like. I'll add event details to my website, too; there's an events page; still scheduling things in at the moment. Links are in the video description. And, yes, publication date was pushed back in North America due to paper shortage, but hopefully worth the wait. Thank you. x

Why haven't I read these, sitting on my kindle shelf for too long: The Little Red Chairs by Edna O'Brien, The Buddha in the Attic by Julie Otsuka and Ruby by Cynthia Bond. Jen, can you or anyone inspire me to give them a try?
@marja29093 жыл бұрын
I didn't like "Before the Feast". The whole story felt rather cold and distanced. But the author's demi-biography "Origin" is great! Still, I'd be interested in your opinion on "Before the Feast". For that book feels so entangled with Germans' view on its own eastern state Brandenburg -- and I'm unsure whether that translates to foreign readers.
