To clear your doubts about her crying at the beginning, you did indeed notice the dried up tears from the previous emotional songs. It must be ad that the song's title: "Ainsi sois-je !" refers to the religious formula: "Ainsi soit-il !" (= Amen) at the end of a prayer.

Instead of never mind in the last line of the chorus, I would have chosen... "so be it." "Tant pis" means more "so be it" than never mind, which really means forget it. So be it is more a fatalist interpretation which is the meaning of her sorrow. As never mind would mean, ah, you know what, forget it. Which does not stick with where this song goes. Also in the last verse, I would not have chosen pipe dreams. Chimères-> Chimera does not mean the same thing depending on how you use it. I'm not sure a lot of people, even with a french language background understands the nuance here. With the lexical field of the song, my understanding is when she says "loin de tes chimères" she means: away from your DEMONS (that troubles you and weight on me). Listen to this verse with this alternate definition and suddenly this part takes another emotional turn. It's tough to translate deep emotional stuff like this who embed hidden context and poetic meanings.

For those wondering, as Cynthia explained, it's a reformulation of a prayer who would roughly say instead, So be I, instead of so be IT. In other words, instead of saying "Ainsi soit-il" (as it should be -> you can't do a thing about it) she says: Ainsi sois-JE (as I want it to be) The magic of nuances.

Thank you Judeo! Mylène Gautier (her real name) is known to be a shy person in real life, that's why she does'nt like interviews. But when she's on stage, she becomes another person... she is "Mylène Farmer", confident and sexy... she's like an actress in a theatre. She delivers a performence to her fans. But even if there is a part of acting, she is very sincere when she sings. That's why she can create such a bond with her audience. She wrote most of her lyrics, and talks about things that are deep insinde of her soul. Her songs can talk about love, heartbreak, death, sex, prostitution... even suicide or anal sex... but it is always sincere and poetic, even when the topic is dark... That's why even kids love her songs.

hi judeo, this song is magnificent, as much in its interpretation as in the lyrics! Myléne's airy voice takes you wherever she wants and pierces you. This song is very melancholic and Mylene is an hypersensitive person. Before the last chorus she stopped singing few seconds because of the emotion, but they cut the part in the official video. Oh she is super shy, super introvert. Just on stage she is in her own world where she can express herself fully, thats what it works. It is by the way not so uncommon that the shyest people are superb on stage - or in other words you wouldn't believe that some stage personas are super-shy once they leave stage :).
