Basically an Isekai where the mc is the villain and doesn’t fall into the typical tropes and works to take over the world unethically. Political and war drama with nation building with lots of different factions. Light novels are amazing but the show is also great for an anime.

Overlord is one of the few anime series I know that simply doesn't have a bad song, whether it is the opening or the ending. And waifu-wise, it's also amazing, and I think you understood that just by looking at Albedo (The dark-haired girl with the white dress and white horns). My favourite opening by far is op4 wit its rather Spanish vibes? Honestly makes me wanna dance haha. My fave ending is Ed 3, feels most melancholic. What separates Overlord from other isekai, especially Slime, is that while yes its an overpowered fantasy, it puts in a lot of rational thought, planning and world building. Slime ended up being too insert fantasy for me, whereas Overlord really had all the world, nations and characters carefully set up and you can feel that they had years of history. I love the light novel for all of its overblown details for it.

You should really watch the Anime. It's concept was actually quite unique as basically, instead of following the story of the hero, in this one you will be following the story directly on the perspective of the BBEG and his Subordinates.

this is a Novel about characters and how others react to the MC. a dark fantasy not a action show you will read about death. and kinda detailed. examples: how leftovers of a brain and the fluid around it are on a shoe after stomping a guy. one novel had at least 4 short scenes of people of their last thoughts (and despair) before combusting I love this Anime and the Novel

I heard Japanese fans back then liked that "broken" english more than proper English, but that was some years ago. The same singer sang the 4th Ending and her English now is superb, she is able to flawlessly switch between English and Japanese without problems.
