Reacting to ALL the Silent Hill 2 Endings

One thing missing from the video you watched is the different pre final boss cutscene on Maria ending: on her ending you are actually fighting a memory of Mary because James didn't admit to himself the wrong he did to her, while in all other endings you are fighting off Maria herself. That's why it is generally considered the worst ending.

In stillness ending you can actually hear James exit car before it crashed which means that he probably got out and gave Mary proper water burial

​@@Nythical also one big fact that IS A BIG spoiler so read carefully Mary didn't actually die 3 years ago but instead day before James arrived to silent hill, he killed Mary, took her body and covered her with blanket that you can see if you use free cam, that's why in stillness and in the water he looks at the back seat because that's where Mary was all the time

@@Nythicalstillness is better. IMO it leaves a lot more up to player interpretation but still fits the original intention of the In Water pseudo canon. He looks a lot more unsure in that one compared to In Water and the lighting is noticeably brighter. The car driving sound effect is *slightly* altered to maybe imply he opens the car door before sending the car into the lake. He may have bailed out and given Mary a water burial. Gone on to live his life as she intended. It’s a mix of the Leave and In Water ending if you want it to be. Doesn’t explicitly say it because that’s more appropriate for the game’s ambiguity. Plus you HAVE to get In Water in order to get Stillness. Also it’s a beautiful scene. Imagining her in the backseat when it’s really her body. Haunting, sad, etc.

​@@MedicalguyI agree! Had the stillness ending not been made then in water would've been the best imo, but he expresses a greater sense of remorse in the stillness ending and it overall feels more emotional.

Two pyramid head represent to guilt to crime to mari and the other represent the eddie,when kill eddie james fell guilt,and mary don't die 3 year ago really die one week ago,in his hand the mark of his ring,that bo brand lasts for years,It only lasts a few days and disappears,and the body to mary,he is in the back seat of his car,blocking his memories of his crime, sient hill hi call him to face his crime and atone for his sins,just like to Angela and eddie,laura don't see monsters in the town,because she didn't kill anyone,the best story in the life

Yep but this couldn't top that. The original voice actress had recently gone through something personal and tragic so she related her feelings a lot to the games story and broke down during the read.

My interpretation of the endings. Leave ending - James kills Maria and leaves with Laura, Laura means literally "victory". So James lives on, he's won a victory, he managed to forgive himself. This is what I'd call "Victory ending" Water ending - James kills Maria but cannot forgive himself and dies by his own hand and in the same manner (wife was strangled with pillow he is strangled with water). This is what I'd call "Punishment Ending". Maria ending - James encounters Mary (not Maria) and kills her for the second time. He then meets Maria and wants to go on living with her. He chooses fantasy (Maria) over reality (dead Marry). Therefore he is on the loop, Maria would also get sick and die by his hand and he'd get another letter, etc. This is Loop/Hell ending. Dog ending. - The player gets James to see his life is played by the dog. Meaning James is not a person, but a player's pawn to be manipulated for our entertainment. This is what I'd call "Breaking of a Fourth Wall ending" - we realize that James is not real and just a character in the game to be manipuiated by us, but we're depicted as mindless happy dogs for making him suffer. UFO ending - James sees UFO and realizes that his life is beyond his control. He surrenders to another copy of himself and runs from his problems. This is what I'd call "Getaway ending". Rebirth ending - James gives himself to the Old Gods and would most likely sacrifice himself to make Mary aive again. This is Sacrifice ending. Stillness ending - James is really just fantasizing about killing his wife in reality they're both still alive. Awaken from a dream about guildt and murder, he finds his alive wife sitting in the car and kills both of them - it is more fair for him than just killing wife and surviving. This is "Double death ending". Bliss ending - Silent hill helps James to teleport into the videotape to the moment in the past. However, James forgets all about watching the tape and disappears from reality into the past. Now he has to make his choice again - to kill or not to kill his wife. This is the "Second Choice" ending.

Mary is still dead in the Stillness ending. He just either imagines her talking to him, or it's the town letting him talk to her.
