I'm glad they showed how the family suffers as well, like the wife especially. There's very few war movies that include that. I couldn't imagine being at home with children, knowing the man I love more than anything, is out there, potentially getting killed and also that he has to kill other people, including children. I mean I worry if someone I love is late in coming home from work, never mind going to war. Thanks for the great reaction!
@NeilLewis77

I don't like how they don't show any of the affects all his killings are doing on the families of the people who actually live there. This movie is so one sided. He was a racist who we sent to kill hundreds of brown people in a place we didn't belong. He shouldn't pretend he's a hero. We should be ashamed of ourselves. Having a cowboy like Eastwood make hero's out of red neck soldiers, doesn't inspire me. When will people learn that there is nothing heroic about going to someone else's country to shoot at them?

@@NeilLewis77 Not only that, these two reactors haven't a clue that we shouldn't have been in Iraq in the first place, that it was all based on GW Bush lies. When I was growing up in the early 70's, young people this age were well aware of the bullshit their government was trying to feed them, and outright rejected it. Now we have a young generation completely clueless, lost in some virtual reality landscape.
@tinahastie
@tinahastie Жыл бұрын
@@NeilLewis77 I'm no expert in this type of stuff, but I'm pretty sure any war movie is going to be one sided. Depends which side's story is being told. I'm not an American and I'm ignorant on a lot of things, but I think they had a right to do what they did after they were attacked like that (9/11). And of course on the other side there's going to be innocent lives lost as well, just like there were thousands of innocent lives lost in the US. It's one of the terrible things about any war. The US had a right to defend themselves though.
@NeilLewis77
@NeilLewis77 Жыл бұрын
@@tinahastie no, in other war movies they sometimes show the duality of man. The good and the bad. "Generation Kill" is one of the most clever, smart, funny, interesting, entertaining, shocking and yet truthful pieces of art I've ever seen. It doesn't paint the soldiers as heros or demons. It's just honest about what happened. After 9/11 we all had the right to be angry. But considering not a single Iraqi had anything to do with it, I reckon it's a bit too much to be celebrating how many of them our snipers killed. The Iraq war didn't create heros for us to celebrate. It just created monsters on both sides. Again, nothing against soldiers as individuals. But Clint Eastwood can go suck a bag of fat ones.

Fun Facts: One of the kid who played Chris Kyle’s daughter is Madeleine McGraw, who was probably 4 or 5 when she filmed this. Now she’s 14 and started on her hit coming-of-age horror film last year called The Black Phone 📞, which you guys probably already reacted too. She played Finney’s little sidekick, foul-mouth sister Gwen Blake, who sometimes cuss like a sailor. She also started on Disney Channel original series Secrets of Sulphur Springs, which she played Zoey Campbell. She was also the voice of Bonnie from Toy Story 4. Her little sister Violet McGraw is also a huge horror movie fan too. She started in M3gan which played Cady, a girl who was depressed after losing her parents in a car crash.

Favorite movie with Bradley Cooper is Silver Linings Playbook. I hope y'all look into it down the road. The part about Kyle dropping his phone during a firefight and his wife was forced to hear the whole thing is true, no baby reveal though. The whole story line with Mustafa was blown up for the movie. Kyle never saw him in real life, but there were some snipers that believed they killed him since he was someone causing havoc in the field. He did exist, but this movie centered quite a bit around him and Kyle taking him down. Really sad how Kyle and his friend Chad were killed simply trying to help their PTSD by talking and doing things with other vets who had the same issues. To my knowledge, Seals go through 12 months of "basic" training and then 18 months of specialized training before they go out. Only 200-250 or so out of 1000 make it through everything.

1.) Not so much the breathing, it’s how you press the trigger. It’s all about uniformity of what you do each time if possible. Also if you press the trigger and yank the rifle even very slightly, it affects your accuracy because your mistake gets amplified the further the target. 2.) Shooting with both eyes open gives the shooter awareness to his surrounding while using the scope. 3.) The punisher logo is not only real, if you wear that patch in public, some people would assume that you’re an alt right person.

Correction, the first major urban battle that the US military participated in. Was years before the "Battle of Mogadishu". And was in 1968, during the Vietnam War in a city called "Hue". It was during the Lunar New Year, where forces of the North Vietnamese Army, and Viet Cong Guerillas seized control of the city. And as a result, forces of the United States Marine Corps had to go in, and root them out. The events depicted in this movie, are true! Though the "Butcher' did not exist. As for Chris Kyle, he was known as the most lethal sniper in US Military history. And if your interested, you should read his book. With the same title, "American Sniper" it's his personal memoirs of his time with the SEALs and his deployments. And as for the "Punisher" logo. That was in fact the name of his platoon, the "Punishers". And personally, for me, I love the way SEALs are laid to rest. Each member of the SEAL Platoon takes their "Trident" and pounds it into the coffin as to signify, that even in death....you're still a SEAL.

He wrote, “I only wish I had killed more.” You can respect his service, but fuck if I'm going to whitewash it. He was human, plain and simple.

I know this video is old but, please watch "Hacksaw ridge". In my humble opinion it's the best war movie simply because it's unbelievable what that one man did. And I know you guys will think the same. And it's directed by Mel Gibson so...

So believe it or not this film actually connects with Lone Survivor. Marc Lee is the SEAL who gets killed in the ambush in this film and he was the first SEAL killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom (august 2nd 2006)and when you watch Lone Survivor there is a quick scene in which a patch is shown with Marc Lee’s name on it. I had the honor of meeting and talking with both Taya Kyle and Marcus Luttrel and both of them are heroes but in a different way.

I enjoy your reactions, but I wouldn't consider this an "amazing true story." If you look into it further, you'll discover his criteria for defining "bad people." And then it was directed by the right wing chair talker Clint Eastwood, so, yeah, he killed all those "savages."

Honestly I don’t know what to think about this movie. It does heavily glorify him which I don’t blame them for especially when being done by Clint Eastwood whose movies I enjoy. But I try to look at it from the perspective of the people who lives there, can you imagine if a Middle Eastern country invades, hold occupation, and claim they’re the authority and don’t recognize our government as legitimate. I doubt many people will want to work with them. Especially when if they do their families are endangered.

Love that you guys are on the military movie path. Yes. This is based on the book American sniper. Written by Chris Kyle Jim defelice and Scott Mcewen. There is some Hollywood effects and scenes added in it. But they wanted it close to the boon and Kyles life.
