What Nova said about social mode and not being mentally prepared to just go to a party when invited REALLY resonates with me because I am excatly the same. I need a couple days notice sometimes to get myself mentally ready to socialise, sometimes, I find it exhausting. :S
@greenaum3 жыл бұрын
I don't socialise much, I go to my best mate's house for a drink and a chill every weekend. And even that takes it out of me. With my 2 best mates, and anyone else who's popped round, I feel at ease and totally comfy, able to say whatever I like, and I do. But it STILL takes energy out of me! I can only do it so often. I love my friends but it is also a certain amount of work. Maybe it's a man thing, women seem to prefer company much more, men tend towards solitude. As a general trend. So yeah, even having fun, or on holiday with friends, I still wanna get home to my own bed and my books and my computer and stuff. Re-establish myself in my nest at my ground level. Just how some of us are, less social energy, but maybe we make up for it in other ways by doing better when we're alone than others do. I'm fine company for myself, I could put up with a desert island as long as I didn't run out of rollups.

People really don't respect each other anymore. I work at a pet supply store and I can't believe how many people let their dogs p*ss or sh*t multiple times on the floor and leave it for me! About 3 in the last 5 months have even acknowledged it, looked at me or looked around to check that no other customers were looking, said something like "oops," and left it... Is it common to be that out of tune with your dog, too? These dogs would tinkle a teeny bit but their people would d*ck around inside for another 5 minutes, then another tinkle, d*ck around fr 5, another tinkle... Rant over

In this, Britain and America are the same. Customers are complete self centered dicks. I went one time for school, and it was basically like being at home when we'd go out to casual places. A particular time sticks out to me because I experienced almost the exact same thing when I got back to the US: a middle aged overweight man was screaming at the poor employees of a pizza buffet place because they were out of sausage pizza (after a group of teenagers came through and devoured it al). Then when I got home I was jet lagged and just wanted to eat something quickly at a fast food taco place and lo and behold, a middle aged overweight man was screaming at the poor employees because they ran out of chicken. (Don't know the story about that one, but it certainly wasn't the cashier's fault.) That's like the worst thing of both our cultures, they have no respect and they're totally self centered.

I had a Batman-sized red velvet lined cape, tuxedo with austrian crystal buttons and cufflinks, large gilded and jeweled amulet on a heavy gilded chain, brocade ducal sash to denote my noble rank, and a jeweled brass goblet to drink all my drinks from because I was _not_ going to be holding a plastic cup in any pictures. @greenaum3 жыл бұрын
Not having a go or disagreeing, but as far as "body image" goes, you have to watch one of their makeup videos. Takes HOURS to get that look! Olympia paints her entire under-chin bright tartrazine orange, to contrast with any blue tint that a hint of beard might bring. And maybe women's skin has more blood supply there? Literally orange like a traffic cone, or... an orange. Then slaps a load of foundation and whatever other magic on the top, some of it's like pancake, theatrical makeup. Cos it's not kids playing dressup, they are _professional_ drag queens. And those results really do take a lot of skill and time and artistry and I think the tradition, or at least the usual method, is that drag queens are self-taught. Then share tips once they start socialising in that particular sub-scene. Seeing Olympia do her slap, honestly it's like an encyclopaedia of stuff about faces and makeup and perception and all sorts of shite, and a million little tips and tricks. Probably doesn't even realise how much she knows. She could well do makeup as a professional, though in the sense of "making women look attractive" would need a bit of a side-course cos it's a different kind of scheme, but still, girl knows her way round her handbag. I wonder if there are courses for teaching drag? Probably not. Still maybe there'd be a side-gig in those places that teach hetero transvestite fetishists how to do makeup, and give them manicures and stuff. Not exactly the same aim, drag isn't aimed at looking like a conventional attractive woman, but I'm sure Olympia is versatile. I'm sure they both are! And yeah my sister once worked in a cafe as a young woman and made a big deal of us clearing our table properly when we ate at any cafe, cos she'd been the person who has to do that job otherwise, and it's a big enough pain in the arse being a waitress without having to mop tables and pick up squashed chips and rubbish. So I've stuck to that. She died last year gods bless 'er and her birthday is coming up soon. Was cancer, very young to die. Sucks arse but I still respect waiters and waitresses cos of her.

I can honestly say that they were the most in love couple I have ever seen, despite the bickering lol. Nova needing to get into the right mindset to go out, I relate to so hard. Don't try to make me do anything spontaneous, I will absolutely say no immediately if you spring something on me. I need time to wrap my head around it and prepare myself to be out and around others lol. And I love my alone time, leave me alone if I'm decompressing! And the be nice to waiters, YES! It drives me up a wall seeing people being such asshats to workers, any worker. Like they are doing a job you can't or won't do, they deserve some respect for crying out loud. Even if I'm having the worst day, I'm still polite to anyone doing something for me. How hard is it to just be nice? "But they get paid to do this" No, that attitude is what's forcing so many people to quit, they just get tired of being treated like absolute garbage and if you think like that, that it's okay to mistreat people and be nasty simply because it's their job to deal with it, we can't be friends.
