Aurora is an artist with an old soul inside her. Much of her music she leaves open to interpretation. I have listened to this song many times and continues to gut punch me every time. To see this performed live at the Nobel Prize concert you will see an entire audience absolutely floored by her performance.

I believe that Aurora has something important that she want us to understand. It's more a need than a want, so she is using every available tool she has, and she is shining her light on it from different angles in every piece of art that she offers. Just like Ren she is on a mission. As she sings "my dreams are bigger than me"... I hope she succeed.

I can never remember what age she was when she wrote her older songs, I googled it and it told me 18. Aurora had a very happy home life with her parents and siblings, but her life was touched by many outside tragedies. Aurora has a very vivid imagination and she finds people and their relationships/connections fascinating, this song is mostly pulled from her imagination. Thanks for a nice reaction to my favorite artist.

Very nice reaction👍 This is a beautiful song, but it’s much better live. The fan favourite is live at the Nobel peace prize concert 2015 I also love the live performance at Nidarosdomen 2017 Two different versions I’m actually not sure how old she was when she wrote this, maybe about 18 years ago, at least not older😊 Aurora said about the song in an interview: “Her, she didn't want to be in this world anymore, and she knew that this man would do anything for her. She asks him to kill her and he said: 'OK, I love you, I would do anything for you.' After he killed her, he became sad because she didn't move anymore and he didn't understand where she went. He didn't understand why she left and he start crying. And it is sad, because for the rest of his life, he will not understand and he will be sad." In another interview, she said: "First of all, I have a really vivid imagination. You know that these things may be happening to someone right now. It's kind of a terrifying thought. I just had to get that thought out of my head - and that's why I wrote this song. But the two characters are actually just made up in my head. I've written many songs about them - maybe I'll make a book with them." Could you please react to something from her latest album “When the dark dresses lightly” live at Amazon Music curved 2024 And this beautiful performance: Jacob Collier and Aurora with “A rock somewhere” x “The Seed” live on a platform/stage in the sea of Svalbard, Norway (for Greenpeace)💚💙

She had always not trivial lyrics and very emotional especially on first album/albums. She has some loses when was younger + she was very mature for her age. She has also unique view on a world and she is very connected and not indifferent on things around her. Her lyrics are usually open for interpretation (and ppl can have their personal versions of meaning) and poetic even if she has very specific message when she write it. This song can be about mercy killing but can be also inspired by news in newspapers etc. She has also very vivid imagination.
