Korra stopped going after Mako when she got to know Asami as a person. It would have ended there if Mako didn't start chasing Korra when he couldn't have her. Asami held no grudge against either of them after the fact. She was just mad at Mako when he was being a wishy-washy asshole about it. She was willing to get back with Mako even though he left her for Korra and she was willing to get with Korra even though Mako dumped her for her. Asami was just generally chill.

If it was forced, they would have kept it at Mako and Korra, and left it at that, even if the characters didn't work. OR, Big idea, they could have done all of these pairings in the writer's room, and done Korra Asami from the jump, acted like they were going to Pair Mako and Asami together, Asami asks Korra for advice, Asami and Korra realize they have more chemistry, and they never run the gamut to begin with

@@LoppedofflemonsI don’t hate the characters but some of them felt pretty one dimensional/boring by the end. Mako felt like a nothing character to me. Asami’s relations with Korra felt like they weren’t expanded enough (I think they couldn’t show too much of the lesbian stuff on Nickelodeon). Bolin was hit or miss with the humor and Korra felt like a character from an episodical show where they learn a lesson at the end of each episode and make the same mistake in the next

@@moroniw6415 The biggest problem is that I think out of the entire Krew, Korra had the fewest interactions with Asami. It was a terrible choice to have Korra end up with Asami because there was basically no build up(at least Katara and Aang was somewhat better while Sokka was the first and only backbender of the ATLA-verse). Mako, Bolin, and Asami have no goals except to help Korra(which sucks) and they had no character development, which left them feeling extremely bland within 1 season. Korra also threw what Avatar Wan did out of the window by rejoining the spirit and human worlds without thinking of the consequences(a war would most likely occur).

A lot of people, apparently, didn't like the relationship aspect, thinking the writers didn't know what to do with her. Thing is, they're so used to a character having a single relationship (think about it, that's greatly the norm, that there's only one, consistent one throughout the show), that it changing is just odd. Kyoshi's a killer. Korra's a player. All Avatars are different.

They probably DID want Korra to actually JUST be with Asami but due to how things were at the time, they weren’t given permission. So they had to do a bunch of loopty loops until eventually they got what they wanted but by that point it just felt weird

@@STGAoe Can't agree there, because we know what happened with Asami, and that was sadly a very last minute decision. like, the rest of the show was done, they were writing the last episode, and just threw it in. We know this from interviews. Like, there was literally no plan for them to end up together until they were writing that LAST scene. I'm not saying the writers had a grand plan (each season was, after all, meant to be the last until they kept getting renewed), it's just that people are so used to the single relationship thing that anything different makes it stand out, and people think that as a problem. it's not. it's realistic, even if it was an accident.
