It would be a badass shirt especially if the quote went around the front of the collar or have one that says put a badass panther on it.
@lostontheislandinksАй бұрын
Hey Kirk, a great video idea would be one of the tattooers who inspired you. I was "traditionally trained" (but never allowed to touch a machine because thats how aprenticing worked for women back in the early 00s) and then became a home tattoo artist, then went into a shop with my own chair for a few years. After that I had to be a mom and I haven't been back since (currently refilling portfolio to go back to work) but because the resources were more sprase back then I never really learned much about old school tattooing aside from the rules, motifs, colors, and images. Ill try to send you some of my recent bangers if I ever get my instagram going again- but I would love to know more about like the history of Kirk version lol.

I get annoyed with ink master always having these “rock stars” as judges. And I think the actual judges should complete all the challenges they give in the time they give to do it.
@lategodАй бұрын
the judges are former inkmaster champs so they have done the challenges lol minus 1 guy whose a 30 year tattoo veteran. the rock star is the host. he still has a voice but for the most part it’s the actual tattooers who are making the decisions.

I think the thing with kids tattooing is that yeah, doing it on fake skin is totally fine and basically just painting, but you've now taught this child how to do something permanent to themselves or someone else. You don't want to wake up from a nap to find out your kid tattooed themselves or their sibling the ways kids draw on walls
@Unlikely_NeutralАй бұрын
I understand your point about advising against it, I had a similar conversation. A mum was talking about her son being a commission artist/visual artist which I happen to be and was asking if he was doing everything he should be because he wasn't doing too well yet and I had to inform her that it's just the natural progression of that field, he won't be seeing great success in the mainstream field for a few years as he builds up his portfolio. If he went onto the internet and did some wild stuff he might get more solidified sooner like I did but it depends on what he likes doing, it's a battle of time and dedication.

Pony has been posting healed updates of tattoos from the last style people were saying wouldn't last the test of time and very clearly has both a want to prove people wrong to open the doors of opportunity and values honesty and transparency highly when it comes to how these newer tattoos heal. 1 week, 1 month, 1 year etc. He is going to keep posting them so we can all see how these tattoos really hold up. We can't innovate in this industry without risk and these styles haven't been around long enough for us to actually know how they stick around let alone in their latest development where artists have recognized that you need black in these tattoos or at the very least high contrast in your colors. While more blacks with line work (disguised or otherwise) is definitely a safer approach as we have seen that this method ends up healing great, I wouldn't be so quick to knock the want for further innovation. He's been doing this long enough to be the guy for the job in leading the way forward and I am sure all his clients are made aware of the risks if Pony ever feels that there are any.

Inkmaster is like Orange County Choppers. They build beautiful bikes, but you don't necessarily want to buy/ride one. Nice to look at but too uncomfortable to ride. Inkmaster tattoos look great on the show, but you probably wouldn't want that if you're looking for a tattoo that lasts without looking like crap.

"How is tattooing different than doing any other art?" I think the big problem is that if a child drops their machine, accidently grazes themselves, etc. they're going to end up with a permanent mark on their body. You don't get that with any other form of art, really. Tattooing also comes with the risk of bloodborne diseases. I don't think it would be safe to let a kid do something with that much risk involved. It's definitely interesting that a child is interested in learning at such a young age, but I personally don't think it's something that kids should be doing.

That portrait looks beautiful... when it's dead fresh and covered with oil. In four years after all that white falls out, it's going to be as much of an indistinct black blob as that guy with the chunky bird wing. Just a more expensive blob. A part of me kinda hates that pink tiger because it's all distorted and bent weird and the anatomy makes no sense, but another part is just like 'haha pink rubber tiger lol'. At least it's going to hold up forever.

That mask is gonna be one in a few months that the client comes back on ink master and wants it covered up. I don't even like the show I feel its just rushed drama trash and no one can do their best work in that situation plus the clients don't even really get to know what's coming until the day so they could hate the whole idea or both designs but I doubt the producers will let them walk they have showed up took the money and will be getting one or the other and be happy about it.

You explained exactly why Inkmasters irritates me. I’m not even a tattooer, just a fan of the art and someone who’s slowly getting covered, lol. I get why people go on the show, it’s great for exposure and business opportunities. I get why people like the show too, it’s fun and exciting. But it also encapsulates the gap between people who know about tattooing and people who don’t. I’ve realized that most people don’t care about the application, placement, orientation, colors, etc. they ONLY care about the design. A cool or interesting design will impress the “normie” audience more than a thoroughly well done and built-to-last traditional piece any day. I also say this as someone who enjoys Pony’s videos, and who generally isn’t a huge fan of traditional tattoos (at least on my own body). If I see a tattoo with very little black, light colors, and no outlines. I don’t fucking like it. Idc who you are. But unfortunately you’re right, people who don’t tattoo and aren’t familiar with the culture have largely bastardized the way it’s appreciated and that’s frustrating. (Sorry for the novel, clearly I’m triggered 😭)
