Hit those PRT numbers you gotta hit before Boot. Practice the PFA: Pushups 2 minutes, rest 2, situps 2 minutes, 5 minute break, and run 1.5 miles. General Orders, know it like the back if your hand. Learn rank and recognition of the Navy officers and enlisted. Sailors Creed and Anchors Aweigh can be learned in a week. Learn and do this you'll be set.

Military Bearing will help you in life for sure. Even passed the military. You will be above and beyond in interviews, at the office, in everything.
@1337penguinman4 жыл бұрын
That's one thing they don't really tell you when you get back into the civilian world. What you think of as "shitbag" behavior is the rule rather than the exception out in the real world. As a manager, I would happily take a "shitbag" that I used to work with any day of the week over some of these kids we hire. Show up to work on time, don't screw up anything major, and go home at the end of your shift. That's all I ask and it seems to be a major problem for a good chunk of the civilian world.
@cidcampeador79224 жыл бұрын
JT is 100% true here. I joined the NG back in 1987 as a Stinger manpad crewmember. Once I hit my NG unit after AIT, I maintained my military bearing, haircut, polished boots, yes SGT no SGT etc, and was always looked at above my peers. I wasn’t smarter than them. I wasn’t special at all. But just keeping my bearing, going to college and doing this properly allowed me to make E5 in only four years (YES, 4 years in the NG) at the age 21. Soldiers from other NG units asked me if I was related to any top brass in the Guard.

Man this makes me feel old as fuck. I graduated bootcamp September 2006.We did the legacy battle stations where you had to run back and forth across base from evolution to evolution all night. Battle stations 21 was still being built while I was going through boot. After I graduated, I was put in THU (temporary holding unit) for three months while waiting on a waiver. THU ended up having to test run the new battle stations. I'm pretty sure it was Pixar who designed it.

See, now that they have done their Battle Stations, and I have seen how their Battlestations is done, I wish R Battlestations was like that. When we start our Battle Stations, we started it in our barracks or we were down to our PT shorts and p t-shirt. When it was time for the call for Battle Stations, we had to get dressed up and our uniforms and have our gear ready. And then all the evolutions where throughout the entire Camp Moffett and Camp Porter. Throughout the night we had to double time to all the evolutions. In the freezing cold weather, -3 degrees. Now do you think the sailors today can go through what we had to go through?

And it is something that they graduate boot camp the day after Battlestation, ours started on Monday night into Tuesday morning. We had brunch went on about the day. Once they called Taps, we all figured we would get some sleep in but oh no, bomb threat simulation took place at 2215. We all had to get dressed up and search the base for six simulated bombs. It was about zero degrees that night. It took our division 1hr 20mins to locate all six bombs. I wonder if they still do that simulation?
