The production of two versions is different. Both produced by Yoongi. "First love" is a reference to Yoongi's song with the same name, it's about music. He was working on First love and So far away at the same time

yoongi added some aspects of the first love instrumental into the jin jk version which is why jungkook sings that line too

I'm not sure how I feel about this lyric video, but I just wanna share: The language of the chorus Suga uses is quite archaic. It's not their usual Korean..the formal endings and grammar and language ... It is language that is only really used among Buddhist monks, if I remember correctly (I've been searching for the translation I read this from, but I can't find it..) When he says: "Dream -- May it be there with you at your creation and at the end of your life./ Dream -- That'll be generous to you wherever you stand/ Dream -- That at the end of hardships, will eventually be in full bloom!/ Dream -- That even the beginnings seem humble, so prosperous will be the future" You should imagine him praying deeply, his entire soul and spirit, this prayer he is making and beseeching on our behalf. This is the one thing Suga is asking. The one thing he is putting his life on the line for, a prayer he is making for himself and us the listener?..I'm not wording it half as beautiful, but.. That knowledge always made the song hurt harder. I really really adore this song, it comforted me for years, blew me away, carried and floated me..Both versions make me ache, I love them both differently

Like what another commenter said, I can't listen to this song often, too. I can't help but feel emotional when I listen to it. As cheesy as it sounds, this is the song that saved me when I was at the depths of despair. I didn't come out of my room for a year and this made me work up the courage to be braver a little more each day and face people and move forward. I'm not completely out of the mire yet years later, but at least I'm moving forward even if it's just a step at a time. This is the song that made me an ARMY and made me realize BTS isn't just your typical pop boy band with shallow or overly positive music.

Suran is a really good vocalist. She's also a cancer survivor. She's friends with Yoongi. Yoongi was tired and sent her the song with a line that had a mistake in the lyrics... So, the original So Far Away ft. Suran has a small mistake in an English line. This is partially why, eventually, Suga re-recorded a cover featuring Jin and Jungkook.

@@queeniejackson5739 What info? About Suran's illness? I read it on some news... I don't remember where, but she spoke about it on korean TV. She had breast cancer, she had a mastectomy, it was very hard for her to deal with that, emotionally... She only spoke about it years after it had happened. You can research it yourself. If you're asking about the mistake, I also don't remember where it was... But Yoongi spoke about it when he was talking about the release of his first mixtape... That's why Suran sings "don't far away" instead of "don'r fall away" (in the chorus). He sent her the wrong lyrics, and there wasn't enough time to correct it.

i just searched up and supposedly the mistake he made was written abt in the blog post he made when uploading the soundcloud ver of the jin jk so far away,, anyway i just wanted to say to be a bit wary of putting stuff that may not have a source or be inaccurate bc theres smm inaccurate stuff abt bangtan in yt comments. but urs is mostly accurate so its fine though he didnt rly state that this was the reason it was rerecorded.

​@@queeniejackson5739 BTS has too much content and this was years ago... But I don't state info as facts unless I heard it directly from the person. If I am not sure or if I am making an assumption or expressing an opinion, I would specify that. Yoongi also said the JinKook cover conveyed his feelings a little more accurately, since the members know him/his story very well and he directed them during the recording... But, he wanted to work with Suran-noona because he likes her voice, basically, he was a fan. They also bonded because Suran was able to rely on him when she was depressed, she said speaking to him helped her a lot. (I am paraphrasing them now.) He seems to like femenine voices that are unique, high pitched and more "indie" style, judging by his collabs.

Suga's signature guitars...I feel like most of his production work has those guitars you just Recognize, like, yo, suga produced that! I do agree tho...usually its guitars in the chorus or bridge or second half, not like this; the closest thing to an epic guitar outro that you've heard elsewhere might be Dear My Friend on D2 by Agust D again, but even then..So Far Away's epic guitars are on shelf of their own

In Tomorrow you can hear Suga touch, we know that he produced it and this guitar in Jhope part is uuuuu mniam.... With Dear my friend there is also this that it is collab and Nell is a band that play instruments, so there was even more reasons for guitar in song, then only Suga taste for it. But it is so true that you can hear when he made a song, He offten uses guitars and more live instruments.... Like Let me know and Autumn leaves scream it is him when you listen to it... Or Shadow it has his style all over it. I love it.

im a hardcore army but i prefer the original version with suran more- maybe cuz i just loved the little addition with the electric guitar. but the production on it, suran's veryyy different sound from yoongi's low pitched voice and my personal crying sessions at night have me biased towards it

a more correct translation for his bridge would be "dream, hope it to be there with you at your creation and at the end of your life dream, will be generous to you wherever you stand dream, will eventually be in full bloom at the end of hardships dream, the beginnings will seem humble, so prosperous will the future be" (credit to doolsetangtan) and i think its a nice contrast from the rather depressing verses its like hes telling the listener (or maybe himself too idk) to not give up and is wishing you well on whatever journey you're on the music itself is already kinda bittersweet and i think the complex feeling of dreaming, longing for more and sometimes suffering from it is conveyed so beautifully here i could talk abt this song for ages its seriously one of their best edit: i just saw another comment talking abt how this part is like a prayer and very different language wise and now im even more blown away theres so much depth to his songs i might cry

This song and the whole of AgustD mix tape has made Yoongi become my bias of BTS and I am more than sure nothing and nobody will ever change that. This song is the one I would most definitely pick if I was allowed to listen to only one song from whole of the BTS discography for the rest of my life. It has become a part of me and helped me to get through some of the most difficult times of my life. Suga is way younger then me, but I still feel like he has become my ultimate support pillar to provide emotional support and comfort, and to keep me sane when darkness gets hold of me. " I live because I can´t die" pretty much broke me the first time I heard it and his prayer-like affirmation "Dream..... " is some of the strongest lyrics I have ever seen in music ( for me at least). When you pay close attention to how his music and lyrics are constructed you realize his songs are never hopeless. He says it as it is, he speaks of desperation, of anger, of suicide, of darkness and that can break you but then he always finishes with some sort of promise of better days. His music is a full circle. His music is transformative. It is cathartic. Nobody does it like Yoongi:-) ... and despite the fact that Jungkook with Jin are my fave guys when it comes to emotional singing , I have to say the original version with Suran is way better... those electric guitars Yoongi loves to use so much in his songs arrangements are to die for and her voice brings feminine element of some sort and balances the whole composition incredibly well. "First love " Jungkook is adding to lyrics in second version is most probably direct reference to another Suga´s masterpiece called "First love" which is bout his love for his piano ( you should give it a listen too - very raw, very personal, very emotional)... and yes, Suga plays also guitar, apart from his piano :-)

I just want to say you will reach a big milestone sooner or later so don't dwell too much on it. I know numbers are a big deal to KZbinrs but it's really all just numerics at the end of the day. I think if I was 25 or something I’d just focus on the good stuff and not feel so impatient, but at 30 I feel like I’m somehow being irresponsible or immature… (you know, internalised capitalism). The irony being that I would never have been able to run a channel full time aged 25 🧐 😆

I like both versions, but I listen to the first one only. This on feel more raw, feel real. Suran have great voice and fit here, nice contrast. Jin and JK ver is nice too but it was special remaster.... And it is more clam in a way, bc of production. Anyway this ver you can't listen to on spotify or alike apps.

i was hoping you would react to the live version as well so that you could get something a bit more different, oh well haha. for future reference if you ever get asked to do things that are basically the same-ish reaction twice try to use the second listen to focus way more on whatever you didn't the first time. so in this case that would be anything besides the lyrics. for this one the instrumental is a good thing to talk about (like you did) since there's no visual to analyze
