Suran's voice is gorgeous, very beautiful song. Suran mentioned that when she was having hard times Yoongi reached out and helped her to get through depression. She said working with him (he was the producer of her song "Wine") gave her motivation to continue making music and she received a lot of strength and energy

This is one of the most emotional and beautiful songs by Suga. I'm 50 now, but it always encourages me to keep learning new things and not be afraid of what comes next. If I make a mistake, learn from it, and move on.😂

His lyrics reminds me not to fall away to despair or depression, worried about what others have vrs where I am in life but to keep dreaming and work towards those goal, even if to others they seem humble, the happiness I get is worth the work 😁

Hi Chalfant. Your reaction is very interesting. I think that the notion of having a dream as a child or teenager often depends on the environment in which one evolves. A child who grows up in a difficult context (poverty, violence, illness...) will often have his head polluted by preoccupations which will parasitize his search for the dream unless this one reveals itself to him as an obviousness. Carelessness allows you to have a free mind to explore the world in search of your dream, but worries can force you to abandon it for other priorities, Yoongi even expressed it in "First love" where he said he gave up his piano for a while but his temperament and perseverance allowed him to come back even stronger but I also think that his dream imposed itself to him. "SO FAR AWAY" as you saw it is originally a song by Agust D feat. Suran. The song was released on August 16, 2016 and is the tenth and last track featured on the mixtape Agust D. The song reflects on the essence of the word “dream” while urging the listeners to continue dreaming no matter their circumstances. The lyrics are very deep, clear, explicit and of course beautifully written, but the following lines are particulars, here the explanation : EVERYONE IS RUNNING BUT WHY AM I THE ONLY ONE STILL HERE? EVERYONE IS RUNNING BUT WHY AM I THE ONLY ONE STILL HERE? EVERYONE IS RUNNING BUT WHY AM I THE ONLY ONE STILL HERE? The last three lines all have the same meaning when translated but there’s a subtle difference. The first question (first two lines ending with 어) feels like a question to nobody in particular. But the second one (third line ending with 지) sounds like a question to himself. Everyone else (refers to classmates, presumably) are going to university, getting engaged, traveling, etc and Yoongi feels as though they’re all running forwards, but he’s stuck on the spot, unsure what to do. This likely has to do with the fact that he wants to pursue rapping, composing and producing, which is a risky path to take, so he’s hesitant. Especially in South Korea and other Asian countries, society is highly competitive and conformist. You’re expected to slave away in school, get unreasonably high grades and out perform everyone else, go to a good university, and get a high paying job such as doctor, lawyer, etc. “Why am I the only one here” could also refer to his confusion that nobody else seems to be staying back, unsure where to go. Why is everybody else fine with going down the normal route? Is there something wrong with me? Should I run too? Otherwise for the last lines - and this is a personal opinion - I feel like he personified the notion of a dream by addressing it as a person wishing him to live humbly and have a prosperous end, and promising to be there and never abandon him. What do you think about it?

This song is not just my favourite Suga track or my favourite BTS song. It's my all time favourite song. The day Suga's mixtape came out I remember The Last had grabbed everyone's attention. I remember translators scrambling because there was no way to properly express the sophistication and beauty of Suga's lyrics for The Last in English. And although this song was the next favourite song of everyone in the beginning it hadn't captured everyone's attention just yet since The Last was so intense on that first day the mixtape was out for. But for me although I teared up listening to The Last, this was the song from the mixtape that resonated most with me. It was the last song if I'm not mistaken and I spent 3 hours listening to it over and over again and crying. Suga talking about how it sucks not having anything you want to do and listening to the advice of just going to university and hope that things would be fine was so . . . I don't even know a word. When he said he only lives because he can't die and that he's afraid to wake up to a new day was so powerful and exactly how I felt. It was insane having someone who got it. It's like you have a dream but it's so ridiculous and hard to reach that you don't really have one. It's not a real dream. And Suga wants us to dream anyway because you can achieve your dreams if you have the strength to truly pursue them or even because just having a dream is a comfort. This song felt like a follow up to songs like Tomorrow and Run. Run was the first BTS song to make me cry and I can't even find the specific lyric video that I had watched when it did. The lyrics of Run may seem like it's about a relationship but the first time I heard it and read the lyrics the fact that it could be a romantic love song never even occurred to me. Run was this track filled with desperation telling people to chase their dreams even if they fell and hurt their knees or their own future pointed back and laughed at them. And when I heard Run I was validated and excited and I thought I'll just keep running to my dream even if it seems impossible. And then So Far Away is like the reality check in a way. Suddenly the dream is no more. It wasn't practical or you didn't reach it in time so now you don't have a dream and you feel purposeless. But Suga says that we should dream anyway. Getting there is still possible. Just keep going because not having a purpose in life is like letting yourself fall away. Your dreams will comfort you. And then I think the song Paradise is like a little end to BTS's story on dreams. It tells you that you don't have to run if you don't have a huge dream that you're trying to get to and that small things that make you happy can be your purpose in life. You don't have to wait until you reach something grand to be happy. You don't have to keep up at everyone else's pace. Even the smallest hope can be a dream and once you feel content you are already in paradise. These four songs are so amazing and have helped me so much.

I resonate with this so much. The beauty of having a group of artists who release personal music is that we get the chance to see how their ideas on certain themes expand. From No More Dream to Paradise, and including Yoongi’s solo releases, we’ve really been gifted with a beautiful portrait of what it means to dream and hope and survive.

The part you asked about where Suga says "everyone else is running. Why am I the only one here?" Coming from someone who is going thru depression, I think he's saying that everyone else is living their lives, running, moving on...but I am still here in the same place because I can't move forward. I really relate to this song alot and I think that a lot of the lyrics relate to how you feel (or how he felt) when you're depressed. Even if that's not exactly what he was saying, I love that he wrote the song like that.

The authenticity of BTS. The same voice within the lyrics is seen in other content like lives or even run. I think that’s where a lot of connection comes from; seeing the same sentiments in other content without it being a focus, it’s just a comment here or there that reinforces the internal conversations the (in this case) Yoongi has which is shown through his lyrics.

This is my favorite song from Yoongi together with People and 28. I don't think the song is about chasing your dreams or being impatient to reach your dreams. I think the song is telling us that it's ok to NOT have a dream. This is consistent with Yoongi's other lyrics and verses. Dreaming is not the be all and end all of life. Simply living and breathing is ok. What is important is being happy.
