So many people, incl. my friends in L.A., comment that in concerts/up close, RM is tall/handsome/hottt/he & Jimin=best proportions/in person & JHope/handsome/sexy, too, that pics don't do him justice, that Jin is more worl-wide handsome up close/lips, that Suga's very fair & his face is adorable, that Tae's always handsome/unreal, Jungkook cute, not as muscular as pics, but still nicely built/more than the others (Jimin a close 2nd)..So..all amazing irl 😊

Honestly, with the song, the boys showed near immediate growth. I personally never had a problem with this song (it's actually my first BTS song) but when other fans spoke up about how it made them uncomfortable they stopped performing WoH. They listen to us a lot and always want to do right by us.

You won't be okay. V goes wild this comeback. Also, they really took the controversy to heart. Because of it, they came back with 21st Century Girl, which is a song that really appreciates women. I personally didn't have a big problem with it because War of Hormone seemed to be more conceptual. It just felt like the thoughts of a bunch of impulsive boys discovering girls for the first time.

War of hormone is an honest song. It's teenage boys fighting against hormones, being hot blooded and not b really not knowing how to deal. I don't find it offensive, they were expressing themselves and finding themselves.
@bb-nu6pm

Mucefita Donelly exactly, it’s like people want to erase the fact bts are sexual beings,, which even seems ridiculous to say considering how innocently they expressed themselves in the song. idols are expected to be sexy and desirable *for their fans* but at the same time shouldn’t engage in, talk about or even think about sex/their own desires. make it make sense

If some are personally uncomfortable with the lyrics, that's their right to feel that way. What I have a problem with is the rage campaign against this song, and people preaching to ME why I should be offended as a woman. Whenever a female says they arent personally offended by this song, we get bombarded with people preaching about misogyny and objectication. Like you said, the song is literally titled WAR of HORMONE. Like it or not, these lyrics perfectly describe how teenagers feel/think when it comes to attraction. I also find it REALLY funny how the same people who get mad about this song also go on twitter or other social media and talk about how sexy the boys or other idols are..... Anyway, this is also one of my favorite bts MVs stylistically speaking. From the almost continuous shot with only a few cuts, the coloring with the pop of red, the outfits. Its very aesthetically pleasing. Its a shame that such a nice MV isnt appreciated because people are so hung up on one or two lines of lyrics.

to this day im still baffled by the amount of hate they got and still get for this song. it's a sing written from the point of view of a hormonal teenage boy... like that's it... and if we're being honest even for kpop standards this song is still super tame compared to some songs put out by other popular groups. i honestly think if this song had been released by another group it wouldn't have gotten this backlash. this was released around the time a lot of smear campaigns against bts were going on and i really believe this was another one of them. it saddens me how much they were affected by this over nothing :(

Although they received such a backlash for it and it gave RM such anxiety he even had a university professor of women's studies, If I'm not mistaken, evaluate some of his lyrics before releasing some songs in the end I feel that they and RM in particular really grew from that experience. Their next albums after this area HYYH pt. 1 and pt. 2 you start to see their path changing for the better I think (as far as coming into their own and personal growth). They started using more gender neutral terms and having their songs more accepting and open for interpretation.

I agree with you 100% on everything. The most criticism I have seen about this song has actually been from international Army saying that it's "objectifying women." The same people who drool over and "objectify" their kpop idols on stan twitter are the same people complaining about such a mild song? Teenage boys are hormonal (surprise surprise) and the lyrics are just being real and expressing that. I find the lyrics more funny than anything. I feel like people get too easily offended these days, and it's sad that they even had to apologise for this.

I agree with everything you said about the song and tbh when I first read the lyrics together with watching the MV, I actually laughed about it and perceived it more as comedy because they just portrayed how hormone-packed teenage boys usually react to girls when they hit puberty in a rather comical sense 😂 Idk, I don't want to tell other people not to be offended, but that's just how I percevied it, I just didn't take it that seriously, and I have read and seen much worse stuff, not just from Western artists but even from other big Kpop groups. Also, think about how we as fangirls always go crazy about male Kpop idol's abs, crotch grabs, hip thrusts, I mean come on! A lot of female fans complain over stuff like this and at the same time oversexualize male idols 24/7 😅 Also, I just wanna talk about how freakin' good Tae looks in this MV. That rude boy absolutely owned this era (and got the girl in the end! 😋). And not to be weird or anything, but Tae slapping Jimin's butt is my favorite thing in this MV 👀 I love the black and white aesthetics of the video, but it's a shame we cannot see the boys' hair colors - I loooove Tae's purple hair, also Hobi and Yoongi had red hair in this and Namjoon had bright blondish-pink hair 😍😍😍 (his blue hair from the dance practice was also amazing, I want it to come back!) The dance practice was so much fun, too. There is actually a more serious version of it if you want to watch that - it's the one that they filmed somewhere outside :) There's also another crack version, the halloween version and it's so much fun 😂 Thank you for this reaction! ^^ 💜💜

i didn't really think much of this song's lyrics when it first came out, because i was 15/16 at the time and feeling the same way about boys as the lyrics expressed about girls, lol. obviously im 22 now and i do understand the criticism but like many have pointed out, i don't think people really understood that the whole concept was just a peak inside the mind of a hormonal teen boy. and like we all know, of course the boys themselves have grown so much since then. this was just a wild time, lmao. thank you for this reaction

So I actually love this song very much. The whole album is like a growing record so danger records heartbreak after loving this one girl who didnt love them back, the way they were naive in thinking its be them forever when theyre young, now w.o.h. is them realizing they like more than 1 girl and are getting used to their feelings like you said. Antis who had always had it out for them made the situation so much worse than what it is. But at the end of the day they grew and that what matters. This is also one of my favorite looks btw lolol

V looks so good in this one. One of his best outfits and haircuts! Jimin's legendary red pants and Jungkook with his iconic "Im 18, I know what I need to know" 😄 this song was never super controversial to me bc it's literally making fun of young teenage years when your hormones are going crazy. Plus you right, this song is really honest. Because it's not about wanting a girl, it's about teenage boys discovering a girl for the first time.

I personally love this song. I think the lyrics, even in a conservative society like Korean, were never meant to be taken seriously. In my opinion, they were trying to give teenage guys' hormone "issues" a fun approach. People bash them about this song because it's thought to be sexist, I don't see it that way, and people forget that even though BTS is one of the most socially aware groups when it comes to their music, they are also entitled to make FUN music, music that is only meant to entertain and make others smile. Not every single song needs to be a political statement. But anyway, as usual, I love your reactions and commentary, you're really down to earth and nice! Keep it up girl!

The lyrics never really bothered me because I always thought of it pretty much the same way you do. I look at almost like an internal monologue about how they feel as teenagers. They find this girl desirable and that feeling is new and thrilling so they go around to different buildings singing about how great this girl is. They never even touch her until she comes to them in the end of the video and she's not even there for most of the video. I think the lyrics are a bit shallow and immature as an adult but at the time they were written I was a teenager too and that was every teenage boys idea of flirting(that's how some guys still try to flirt with me now). I don't fault them for making it or thinking it because I can assure you, I thought the same things about them in a number of videos and I know many people do.

The funny thing about Kookie's "I'm 18, I know what I need to know" line is it that he changes his age in the song as he gets older. My favorite part of the MV is Jin throwing his shoe at Taehyung when the girl chose him. You should see the Halloween Dance Practice of WoH, Suga as Chucky is everything and JK's torturer is a scene stealer! Poor RM, you can see him questioning his life choices in this dance practice. Toxic lyrics and twerking is the main reason I quit listening to Western artists. For awhile it was prevalent and it was either find a new source of music (Hello Kpop! 😘) or go Pure Country (even some of that wasn't safe! 😲).

To be honest, I'm not surprised that Jimin is wrecking you 😂 There's this inside joke between ARMYs called "The Jimin Effect". Here's the definition from Urban Dictionary: The Jimin Effect - "The Jimin Effect is a short circuit that happens in the wiring of the brain when one first experiences a visual encounter with BTS' Park Jimin. It inevitably results in instant feelings of love and happiness, but can take a variety of forms, depending on which version of Jimin one has encountered. If: Mochi Jimin, the affected party will generally grab the nearest person and demand to know how anyone that adorable is even possible. If: Sexy Jimin, the affected party will likely have a pause in all bodily activity while the brain tries to reconfigure everything it thought it knew about the world. This can last from several minutes to several hours, and can in some cases result in becoming frook shoken." and here's the defintion of "Frook Shoken" on Urban Dictionary: Frook Shoken - "A state of paralysis that occurs in the left brain of a heterosexual male upon his first visual encounter with BTS' Park Jimin. It is caused by a combination of shock, awe, and general confusion, and can last up to 9 hours. Symptoms include staring and/or rapid blinking, repetitions of the word "how" and a slackness of jaw which may result in drool. It is simply known as the Jimin Effect when it happens to straight females and homosexual males, but the added layer of confusion resulting in left brain paralysis is what makes Frook Shoken specific to the straight male subset. Snapping out of it will inevitably result in the victim asking "wtf just happened" but it is best if you wait a few hours to let his system recover before exposing him to Jimin again. Just tell him you'll explain later." Even though it's not your "first visual encounter" with Jimin and this "effect" is mainly about how straight men keep falling for him, NO ONE IS SAFE. So welcome to the never-ending list 😂😂

When I discovered the controversy a short while after it came out I was sort of puzzled because in no way did I feel they were being too much or sexist or objectifying women (like calling girls "a present") and by the concept of all of this I didn't even expect them to think that hard about it (I mean War of HORMONES??). I think it was all done in good intent and I understand and don't want to invalidate people that felt uncomfortable because of it, but anyway they apologised and took measures and all is good now.

1. I really like the sound of this song. 2. I can relate to the lyrics as far as physical attraction but not emotional attraction. 3. If I was a male I wouldn't have really seen the difference between physical and emotional attraction so I would have 100% supported this song and felt the exact same. 4. Overall this is a nice song that I enjoy listening to and it's basically about being a teenager (which around the time they wrote this they were around that age) so it's understandable 5. I'm 18 and I know what I need to know lol (I'm joking but I am 18 so I found it funny). 6. Overall (to me) this is a light hearted and fun song!

Lowkey, I _adore_ RM's rap/verse in this song. It's so fitting, clever😅 Also, this color coded video having the lyrics in ALL CAPS just makes it better. I could rant, but I do like this song. JK being 18 is classic, and it's been long theorized that Hobi's actually pretty _filthy_ when he isn't anal retentive dorm-mom. To me the POV matters. They are and they are also portraying, clearly, "all bark, not so much bite" highscool boys. If they were men in their 30s,it'd be different.

Edit : I wrote this comment before ending watching the video, so just I agree with all you said x) The song is a bop and for me the lyrics critize the debut of adolescence when boys start to be intersted in the other gender... And exagerate their thoughts to "mock" them a bit. For me it's a lot more cringy that controversial but I don't want to invalide people feelings if the lyrics really honeslty bothered them :). It's just a bit strange the amount of backlash they got for this song when in some clip of kpop we see men dominating woman with chains and mimick them as dogs and then nobody say a thing about it. But well, I was still not into kpop at that time so I can't really comment of this past :) ANYWAY I love the MV personnally, like their look were one of their best haha, and the song is really catchy yes.

This is how Suga described War of Hormone when he did his Dark & Wild full album review. (Translation credits to Bangtan Subs channel): "It's rather exciting and (touches) on the desire towards females? It's a track that started off with us wondering what it'll be like if we challenged this. Anyway, for this track it's a meaningful track because of the meaningful selection of lyrics that went into it. We wanted to properly convey a male's born instincts so we were very picky with the words used. There are many things expressed in a fun manner too. Personally I'm very pleased with this track."

As soon as you said Michael Jackson video I knew which one! The funny thing is that when it came out, I was early teens and thought it was "romantic ". Seeing it here as an adult female, I'm shocked! It's crazy how our perspective changes with age. I think that's exactly what BTS has done, become more aware. Now you HAVE to watch the dance practice for Just One Day! I'm totally agree with you. I don't know if it's because I'm in mid thirty or if because I'm from Spain and here you only hear reggeton on radios or what, but I actually think that the song is cute in some ways, like... they are teenagers trying to explain what's happening with them when they see a girl ( or a boy, or whatever) in this moments... I hear or watch a lot of way worse things on radios or tv shows in my life, but yes, in a conservative society maybe this could be controversial, I don't know. And the song is sooo catchy that I put it all the time constantly the first time that I heard it. Sorry for my english...

I loved your reaction to this song so much ! Your reactions to V are literally me when the MV came out (V is my bias too !) the boy snapped in this song 😂 Still today i can't help myself but to gigle at Jungkook's "Yes, I am a bad boy" while riding that tricycle like sure baby, be a bad boy ~ And concerning the lyrics i'm totally with you, as a european girl who was around 20 when the song came out i didn't really have a probem with them when the song came out and it's actually still today one of my favorites. I do see why it is problematic but as you said there are other songs that have worse lyrics than that. Actually if i'm not mistaken, the whole thing really blew out later in 2016 i believe, when BH made an apology about it and i remenber just asking myself "why is it so big now ?why do you need to go back on a 2-year-old song and analyse the lyrics now?" again i understand the problem, i'm a woman i've heard worse and i still hear worse just walking down the street but like here it's literally just a bunch of teenage boys being a little "too straightforward" about their crush for a girl and having to deal with their testosterone being all over the place (hence the title of the song), that's how i read the lyrics back when the song and how i still understand them now. I guess the good thing we can take out of this is that now we have 21st Century Girl ! Anyway, sorry for the rambling (2 weeks late !) i reallly love your videos and relate a lot to you being an Exo-l too (and having Chanyeol as a bias XD) before becoming an army as well in 2013 ! Have a nice day ~ !

I'm glad you spoke about this with an open-mind, as I believe the controversy, though reasonable, seemed to be coming from that.. step back South Korea has from the USA and other countries. As a male, I can't be offended by these lyrics but I can understand as to why it is wrong as it seems objectifying. Though with that being said, the song is titled War of Hormone, and in my eyes it even seems to be mocking the behavior of hormonal boys. While listening to this song I have a good time since the melody is so catchy, but it also gives me a sense of second hand embarrassment since I'm a guy and used to act like a clown myself. Objectifying girls by saying "they're an equation" and "us guys just do them" is wrong, but in context, I personally understand it even if I also understand the anger it caused. I'm glad you saw it the same way as well! I'm also glad you seem very understanding when it comes to South Korea and their mindsets still being very conservative.

If I listened to the song and read the lyrics without knowing the boys, I may have a frown on my face at some part and laugh at some part. Now that I know Bangtan, I don't fimd the lyrics offensive or anything, not just because I love the boys, but because I became an open minded person and learned to think things through before I speak. I basically became a better version of me since I met them. And I know that they really took the criticism and backlash at heart, especially Joon, and is now doing his best and making sure everything is reviewed multiple times by experts before putting it out for the public to scrutinized. Since everyone's talking about 21st century girls, I can't wait to hear your thoughts on that song. You can definitely see the growth of the boys as an artist and as a person.
