of all the things I was expecting in this musical, Adam Lambert interrupting his brother's wedding to announce that he's not dead, he was just fighting evil and getting away from an annoying fiancé and also he's gay and he's going to marry his boyfriend and be king.

I think in the history of music, every composer has been influenced by the great composers before them. There are pieces of Mozart which have been almost copied and pasted from his predecessors. Early Beethoven sounds a lot like Mozart. And so on and so forth. It is no different to John Williams, and I think this comment is ill-informed. Plagiarism is a very different matter, of which defending ALW is very difficult.

So does the main pop ballads like I Know I Have a Heart from Cinderella actually sound like the popped up version from the concept album or is it less Katie Perry and more musical theater thus bringing us to the conclusion that it was more specifically a radio edit rather than what the song actually sounds like in the show? Does it have those strong guitars? Can you tell us the deleted songs.? We already know Adam Lamberts song was cut. Besides, Ursula doesn't belong in a Cinderella show anyway.
@jonathanscouse75843 жыл бұрын
@@DerekMckean The main songs that were released as singles are pretty much as they are if I remember correctly. Adam Lambert's song is cut and replaced with a longer version of Man's Man/Marry for Love. The Wedding Party has more of a salsa/latin feel and is a bit slower. The rest of the cuts are just some verses taken out of songs (Buns 'N' Roses) or different dance breaks (Man's Man). Hope this helps!

@@jonathanscouse7584 Thank you so much. P.S even though I am an American, are you a Scouse? One of my KZbinrs I watch is from Liverpool and therefore is a scouse. At first I thought his accent was between Northern Ireland and Scottish. But he stated no, he is a scouse from Liverpool. But luckily, he was not at all offended. I have always thought the Liverpool accent sounds so close to a northern Irish accent. I remember going to a GameStop and asking if a clerk was from Ireland, and she was very upset but held her composure stating that I was treading down the wrong path, so she said she was from Scotlland. Prior to this conversation, I was not watching Suzy Lu at the time, so I was much younger. But the more I watch Suzy Lu, I am starting to decipher the difference. It is very weird too since I have up to 28% Scottish DNA. I am kind of similar to Henry Golding, but I am 50% Chinese. Lol if Andrew Lloyd Webber had a kid with Henry Golding, the baby probably would look like me.

I like how they do something different with the lyrics and pop rhythms. I hate to say it, I like the homage to “my little corner” because a) nostalgia and b) they changed or added enough to it to make it its own. Only you is my favorite of the three songs I know. His voice is deep, soothing, and velvety. He mixes his notes well. I love how it starts out slow and just rises with each chorus but does not go over the top with it. I have 2 issues: 1- I get that Cinderella has a pop structure but coming from 2 songs that sounds like cats/phantom and then hit with pop with Bad Cinderella is like "Did I change the soundtrack?" I know is for setting the character and I love Bad Cinderella but at least has to be a better arrange to get to that point. The good part is all the comments about the songs changing it gives me hope to still tracking down and open to listen more about it. 2- About the Prince Charming LGBT representation, I hope it evolves in something better, Im not saying I dont like it but I think was like a extreme plot choice bc it feels that the whole musical change plot like in a blink, like forget Cinderella we are now in a gay wedding when it could be a better plot to make cinderella think he lost Sebastian, besides at the end is like "im bad bc you married!, Im not it was a gay wedding you idiot that doesn't look closely and put the pieces together by yourself" Its just my opinion, lets see how the musical evolves.

Unfortunately, Broadway probably won't see this for a decade, if it does indeed come to the U.S. P.S The Adam Lambert song was mainly for the concept album. It was already cut from the stage version. Maybe it will come back if there will ever be a Broadway version. Remember how The Lady's Got Potential never made it to the staged version of Evita but oddly but in a different context made a comeback with the Madonna film version? Maybe that is what's probably going to happen to the Sea Witch Song. But I don't this will ever become a film as ALW is getting older. Besides. the sea witch is from The Little Mermaid plot! However, there is a theory that there is more than one Prince Charming as sort of hinted in the musical Into The Woods. So maybe there is possibly chance for some weird crossover where Prince Charming kills the Sea Witch. I was lucky enough enough to catch the U.S tour of Love Never Dies with Gardar Thor-Cortes where The Beauty Underneath went through some compositional changes. Fade out. Exit. Cut. P.S I like it when musicals had touch of deviance to traditional kids stories. For example, Wonderland is mostly a happy story about Alice in Wonderland. However, the overture has a sense of darkness as well as the Queens song I Will Prevail sung by Katie Shindle

I have to say I'm really not a fan of the lyrics of this show. (Although I liked some of the music, there are some serious bops in this score) But lyrically, almost every song makes me cringe in some way and the mix of modern-colloquialisms and more old-fashioned kinda phantom-esque lyrics really doesn't mash well in my opinion. These almost make me appreciate the lyrical work in Sunset Boulevard. (they used "also-ran" in that musical too btw, it's in "The Lady's Paying)
@rosiescott15313 жыл бұрын
That's what I've felt from what I've heard. The music is not bad in most places but the lyrics? Ouch. Bad Cinderella is "I'm not like other girls: the song" and the ones where Cinderella and the prince are flirting make it sound like they hate each other. I think post-Hamilton you can't get away with bad lyrics like this.

I saw the show almost exactly two weeks ago and I wasn't madly keen on it - I was expecting to not like the music and lyrics based on what had already come out, but the big surprises were that the script's terrible (Every laugh line is just 'Someone said a swear word' or 'Look at this man without a shirt on making a vaguely sexual movement') and the plot makes no sense. It must be said though that the cast is doing the absolute best they can with the material they have, and it's a very pretty show (The 'you will be moved in more ways than one' thing is massively overhyped, but the lighting is awesome). Something more subtle that I noticed was that there are times during songs like 'I Know I Have a Heart' which have these big moments, where, because the orchestra's so small (9 people), they run out of steam about halfway through - the vocalists and musicians will be giving their all but there's only so much they can do. I think the soundtrack was recorded with a 40 piece orchestra, and having an orchestra of that size really does help the songs.

Enjoyed your video. I just saw Bad Cinderella on Broadway tonight. The characterizations are very over-the-top, it's def. played for camp value. From your reactions, I don't think it was played that way in the recording you're listening to.

My main take away here is when attacking someone aim for the throat

In my own little corner is NOT like Bad Cinderella. The melodic arc is entirely different, listen to them back to back. A similarity in the phrasing of the melody does not constitute plagiarism, one of the things people never seem to understand. You would otherwise have to accuse almost all other composers of the same to be consistent in your argument.

I noticed on the album, that the chorus of ‘Only You, Lonely You’ sounds like the verse/bridge in ‘Wonders of the world’ from The Wizard Of Oz (I used to listen to the album a lot!). Webber literally copied himself 😂 great review, I’m seeing it in a few weeks!

Mickeyjo, if you look at the Cinderella posts of the songs, the ones you realized were taken from other shows fully, they have their comments turned off. lol i wonder why?

"Tan man" in Vanquishing of the Sea Witch, is that a Rocky Horror Show reference? 😂
