Even if it's no less vulnerable than it is inside your skull, that visibility could draw attention to it every time you see it. I have seen my brain. I had a weird eye orbit tumor about 15 years ago. Benign and not recurring-yea. So, I had to get multiple MRIs of my noggin. Imagine lying in a huge circular magnet for about 30-40 minutes with instructions to not move. You can't even move your eyes with your eyes closed or they yell at you. Meanwhile, it sounds like someone has placed a metal bucket on your head and proceeds to hit it with a hammer as hard as they can. Even with ear plugs it's extremely loud. I have copies of the images. So, anytime I want to see my brain I just go take them out of my brain chest.

Your discussion about transparent brain cases reminds me of a story I read when I was younger. Guy gets bitten by a bug that turns all his skin transparent so you can see his internal organs and people panic thinking he's a monster. He spends several years looking for another bug to turn back into a normal human only to find the entire human race now has transparent skin and he's still a monster. Also no I wouldn't go with a transparent brain case.

Transparent brain case would be pretty mundane. You have a dura, a skin covering which also serves to form large "veins" which drains deoxidized blood from your brain. So a transparent brain case would just look like a balloon of skin. Maybe in the right light you could see the shadow of your brain through it, but otherwise, meh.
