I watched your video. Not so much the game you were viewing (I've seen it a hundred times already), but you, and your reactions. We're very different in our backgrounds and upbringing, but I felt everything you did. I was a young white kid growing up in Central Michigan who'd MAYBE met 2 or 3 black people in my entire young life. But the day I watched the Cowboys beat the Lions 5-0 was a day I won't every forget for how upset and disappointed I was. Almost the same reactions you showed in your video. And I got to watch the Cowboys just beat UP on the Lions every year after that. And I always reacted the same way you did with this video - the Cowboys just always brutalized the Lions. It took a long time, but I finally got it through my head that these players are just men. They have good days and bad. Things happen outside their control that contribute to players having a collective bad day. LIke the Cowboys had a lot of first string players out due to injury for the Lions game. Had even some of them been healthy enough to play, it might have been a much different game outcome. Hell - I remember watching a Lions game (against the Bears, I think) where they were beating the shit out of the other team, and one of their top players (wide receiver Chuck Hughes) died on the field from a heart attack on October 24, 1971. That just sank the Lions, and they wound up losing by a huge margin. So yeah - things outside their control can have a direct impact on a specific player, and can lead to a collective bad day for the team. Alla this to say - don't be so down. Individual players can have good and bad days; teams can have good games and bad games. All teams go through cycles when players are traded, age up and retire, get injured, salary caps, and bad management. It's just the nature of the game. So don't be so discouraged. You're a KZbin influencer. People listen to and pay attention to what you have to say. What you saw today was a bad day for the Cowboys, but I can't imagine they'll have a bad game every week. And believe it or not, you can have an impact. The Cowboys are the team you follow and the team you clearly love. Your understanding and support through the good games and the bad will impact your followers, and that positive influence will reach back to the Cowboy fan base. I reckon I sound like a rah-rah idiot, so sorry if it comes across that way. But watching your reactions reminded me in SO many ways of my own heartbreak and frustration following the Lions. Watching you, I feel like you have a lot to say that could be influential to the Cowboys community. Though - I'll be honest - your continuous use of a "forbidden" word for describing black men kind of appalls me. I grew up in one of the most lily-white areas of Michigan, and I still to this day cannot begin to imagine using that term, or any similar term to describe an ethnic group. I always believed that people got ahead in life by the manner in which they spoke. Being thoughtful; saying thoughtful things; not resorting to using harsh, derogatory slang terms when you had something important to say. Though you used those slang terms profusely, I rather think that you certainly have an eloquence to your thoughts and your speech. Just my own take here, based on hearing my own frustrations echoed in your own, but think you have the makings of a significant channel. IF you're willing to take the time, and make the effort, into growing your channel and your followers. It all kind of boils down to the "human experience". Like I mentioned, it took me a LONG time to get beyond the temper tantrums when the Lions were doing shit, and start thinking about the individual players, and how they're basically contract slaves. At least they were back then, in the '70's. It's a bit different now with contracts, but a player is still a human being, no matter how good or how bad they are. The rawest rookie can step up to an all-star performance, while an all-star can have a day where they suck like a a hanger-on. But through it all, the team you love and follow would benefit from having another KZbinr provide thoughtful reactions and support for all games, good and bad. My apologies if I came across like a preachy asshole. Aside from the tantrums, the 'I'm done watching this' statements, pulling your shirt up over your face, and the use of derogatory racial terms, I saw you sneak in a few insightful comments. How far do you want to take your channel? What do you want to DO with your channel? Have you given thought on how to monetize your content by making content that reaches a far broader audience? You may not have the technical aspects of the game down, but you certainly have the ability to connect with your audience on an emotional level. Whatever you decide, just know that I enjoyed watching this video. I feel like you have the guns to take it further, and I wish you well and best of luck with that.
