It does tend to get worse over time, like the larger the piece and the older you get, the tolerance seems to decline. But it depends on the artist’s technique as well, some just have a super gentle, light touch 😇

Now that I pay more attention to tattooing (As an artist), it blows my mind how unskilled A LOT of tattoo artists are... I feel like people like the idea and culture around being a tattoo artist 1st and be a good artist 2nd... And if you do portraits etc you simply need to join a atelier and have teachers with a Academic fine art background critique your value/rendering quality (lack thereoff) until it's pretty much perfect, you also need this quality of rendering and understanding since ink makes everything even harder. If you don't have this obsession of constantly improve and honing your art skills, you should have no business making permanent art works on people's bodies or calling yourself a (tattoo) artist.

Im just going to tell any newb that one's a big session. If you book a tap out session, a lot of artists will crank that machine up and bury the needle. What you think will be a 10 hour tattoo will end up tapping you out in 5 guaranteed. Im not speaking for every artist. But if the artist is willing to book a tap out tattoo, then they are most likely willing to make you tap out. Just saying. Book a 6 hour tat. I promise by the end of it. You'll have enough for the day. And if you're already doing 6 hour tats than you are experienced enough to not book a tap out 😅
