So this guy has been doing the rounds on youtube the past few months and I've seen him pop up on my feed here and there. He has some serious chops and he's released a new video covering one of my favourite Foo Fighters tracks, "The Pretender". I'm sure he will put his usuall twist on things, so let's see how he gets on!
If you like my videos please like and subscribe to my channel. I really appreciate the support!

He's honestly like Buddy Rich, Neil Peart, and Joey Jordison were combined and taught Spanish. The guy is amazing. I've watched drummers for many years, if you can't tell by the Buddy Rich comment, and I've never seen anyone like him. If he can do something more with his talents than KZbin videos, he will definitely be among the greatest of all time.

He also knows if he didn't overplay to a certain extent, the video would get a bit boring for the more casual audience. He shows he can do the important stuff correctly, then adds enough chops on top to wow people even if it detracts from the music a bit. He never goes too far with it that you lose the iconic parts of the original IMO. Like cliffo says, it feels like he wants to play it the way it's meant to be played. Basically, I think he's found the perfect balance of showmanship and musicality for KZbin success.

Hi! I liked your reaction and I've been following El Estepario Siberiano for a while and wanted to point something out. You noticed how in the bridge he held the drumstick between his fingers instead of holding it "the usual way". He actually said he does it to not feel as much fatigue as it would if you sticked to only one way of holding the sticks. He changes it a lot, you can see it in the chorus of this video too, dude's just crazy good. Have a nice day man!
@cliffoplaysdrums

I tell you what, I thought about this after the video and I found that I’ve done that too myself in the past (stick between the fingers) when I’ve felt fatigued. It really does work. Link at end of comment. Also a comment, when he's showing drills in his shorts he'll regularly say that it'll take 6-9 months to go from learning speed to fluid. Really enjoying your reactions. Great comments. Let me share two things I've picked up/heard while getting into EL. First, VARUS drums...WTF! Never heard of them. So I checked their online store and man these are some of the best looking, coolest drums I've seen in a pretty long lifetime. Def check them out. On that, uhhhh, different grip. I did hear another drummer's reaction to EL and that drummer called it a "claw" grip and said it actually allowed you to play really fast, long passages without causing undo stress to your fingers and finger joints. I don't know how authoritative that guy was but other than him every other drummer whose mentioned it has had the somewhat incredulous reaction you did. El Estepario is a genius and has discovered a way to play the way he wants and bring drumming to millions of people who probably never gave drums a second thought before. And that is awesome.

Around 5 minutes, you ask about his hold on the stick. As a guitarist, I can say this for sure (it's how I pretend to be a drummer) ... He holds that stick so that the back end 'bounces' off his palm, so he can make the stick go twice as fast! Case-In-Point about 4 seconds later!
