[Edit] Originally said 25 years ago cuz I mistakenly mixed up the releases of "without me" and "the real slim shady" and just remembered that song from high school which was 21-24 years ago. Problem is "Without me" was actually released in 2002. Someone decided the exact date was of more importance than the point I was actually making so Ive now looked up the date and corrected my statement. So fresh, talented white rapper Em hits the scene late 90s, and politicians use him to try to drag down all of rap. Then Eminem popped up and suddenly rap was a borderline national security threat. At least the news made it seem like that. It made kids love it more, like always. My mom didn't care. She said he was no different than when metal music popped up in her childhood so she didn't mind me listening. I had my metal cd's and rap all burned onto my xbox and would play them in game.
