The military woman who talked with the kid was actually being really nice. The kid was infected, they would die either way, so instead of letting them be panicked and turning, they gave them a lethal injection and the military woman made them feel safe and comfortable for their last few moments alive

I agree. So many reactors watch this and totally misunderstand the scene. Questions like: "What? Why the screen is red? It surely means good, right? Is that the same kid on the car? Evil woman killed him!" I'm slightly shocked by people's lack of understanding.

Me and brother were talking about it, and we think the kid was actually immune. Even you get bit and you are immune, it still shows red (infected). He seemed fine just shy and scared. I think it makes the scene sadder if he was immune and they killed him.

Found family is just top tier and no one can change my mind: if there's one thing to highlight from "the human experience" it's how we gravitate towards each other, even during those times when we isolate ourselves for whatever reason. You will find your people and your people will find you, cause the way humans survive is that we are not alone

I have very high hopes after watching the first episode last night. I think they’ve done a great job balancing a coherent and engaging story for newcomers while fleshing out the characters and story just enough so there’s something new for people who’ve played the game to keep them watching. I can’t wait to see the rest!!

Even the scenes or parts of the story that weren't in the game maintain the atmosphere and work to further build on the characters. Those of us that played the games got to know Joel and Ellie through the hours of playtime, hearing every bad joke or attempt at small talk. Now we get these scenes and extra details about their life that, while brand new, feel like they belong.

maybe part of why you feel like you don't remember barely anything from the game is cause a decent amount of this episode wasn't really in it (or not exactly), they did extend it quite a bit probably to fit the change in medium better, for example we get a lot more time with Joel's daughter before she gets killed compared to the game (which i really like btw, i think the plot could've easily felt rushed if they hadn't fleshed it out more. seems to me that they were very aware that adapting a story doesn't mean to copy and paste, you need to actually work with the differences in medium, and seeing that i have pretty high hopes that i'll like the series just as much as i enjoyed the game)

God, it feels so strange watching ppl who haven't played the game or know how it goes to react to one of the greatest stories ever made (probably the best in videogame history), and I'm saying this in general, cause I've watched so many reactions... A game saga so big it won over 500+ game of the year awards.... My favorite game... The show has literal scenes and quotes taken straight from the game... it becomes 10 times better knowing the story... It feels surreal, but I'm hoping ppl who watches the show eventually will want to play the game, or watch gamers play it (like me). IT IS SO WORTH IT
